March Kit Reveal

Today we rolled out reveal on our website for our March kits and new self-paced class. You can see the kits here.

Be sure to check out yesterday's blog where guest designer Beshka Kueser shares her scrapbooking space and peeks at some of the work she's done with March's Pocket Life kit.

We are very excited to offer Citrus Twist Kits Stamp Class. For just $12, you'll get the class stamp and class. We have 8 contributors sharing how they use stamps in their scrapbooking plus an introduction covering stamping, stamp storage and more:

This month's Main kit "Sweet" is packed!

Here is our March "My Happy Place" kit. We did have to do a last-minute replacement of the puffy stickers shown in this photo (that product is caught up in the backlog of the west coast port strikes) but were able to get a wonderful, brand new replacement: Maggie Holme's new Confetti line puffy stickers:

Here is another close-up of the PL kit:

Our "Happiness Is" add-on is fun, bright, happy and filled with new product from Elle's Studio, Pinkfresh Studio, Maggie Holmes Confetti and Craft Market by Crate Paper:

The "Smile All Day" embellishment kit has a set of accent stickers and alphabets, pink label maker word stickers and October Afternoon's Saturday Morning ephemera:

This month we are introducing our new monthly Sprinkles kit. This kit is $10 and has bits of this and that, split packs of embellishments and more. The style may vary from kit to kit but the product lines won't. Here is a peek:

"My Everyday Life" Pattern Paper kit is bright and fresh:

Check out this month's "Days of the Week" add-on stamp. @fabworqs did the calligraphy for this stamp:

In My Studio with Janine Langer

Hi everyone, I am so excited to show you my scrap space today! Lighting is horrible these days, but I did my best to get some shots that show my scrap room a bit.

My space is quite small and it is a home office/scrap space kind of thing. It is also quite messy, but it is a creative mess and I love that! I need to have the items I use in sight, otherwise I forget about them, and so there is a lot going on on my scrap table. :)

When you enter the room, the space on the right sight of the room is my office space. There is my computer, my printers and my Silhouette.

When you turn around, straight on the other side, there is my scrap space. I love that I can sit at my computer, printing my picture, turn around and am able to scrap straight away.

Now you can see what I meant by saying 'messy'.

Everything got its space and it is clean (well - I could have emptied the trash bin beforehand), but it looks messy though. But I love it this way, everything I need is there. :)

I do have a lot of small boxes hanging on the wall which contents I change frome time to time. I have some thickers and alphabets in one of them, that I would love to use the next few weeks. Then I change them again, the rest of my thickers and alphabets are stored in boxes in a shelf that you can't see on the pictures.

The small box under the alphabet one is filled with printables, left overs and twine that I use quite often.

These are my favorites, my tool boxes! There is a lot going on and I use everything there on a daily basis. There are my Neocolors, Gelatos, pencils, knifes, brushes, scissors everything I need!

On the left side of my table, there are some boxes with Die Cuts, Labels, vellum shapes, frames ... just everything that I would like to use the next weeks as well as some recent papers, bigger scraps and a (closed) box full of smaller scraps. I love using scraps, so I do have the feeling that nothing I bought is going to be wasted.  I also do have a tiny box where my adhesives are stored so I can reach them easily. :)

Well - that's it for now, not the biggest space, but I love it. It is mine and I can create and spend me-time in there. Thanks so much for looking and have a wonderful day!

~Janine

3 to Inspire: Get Crafty with Citrus Twist Kits

Hello everyone. This is the debut of our new weekly "3 to Inspire" blog post. Do you need a little creative boost to keep your pages moving along? Are you getting behind in Pocket Life? Did you step away from your crafty space for too long? We hope you'll join us and participate in our new inspirational blog post, coming to you weekly on the Citrus Twist blog.
Are you ready for your challenge? Here we go!

Create a scrapbook page or Pocket Life page using the following 3 things:

  1. A piece of fabric on your page.
  2. An arrow/arrows to direct your eye to a title.
  3. A frame behind a photo with 3 layers of pattern paper.
Here is my use of fabric. I tore a strip (instead of cutting) to fray the edges, then layered a strip of pattern paper over the top and stitched it all down:

Use a wood chip arrow and position it near your title:

Last, use 3 pieces of pattern paper to frame your photo. One of my papers is a strip of gold-printed vellum that I cut a different size and shape from the other two pattern papers:

Here is my finished 6 x 8 layout, one of the mini scrapbook pages for my 2015 Pocket Life:

This mini page was created with the January "Fields of Gold" main kit. When you subscribe this month you'll get a free Main kit, shipped with the first kit in the Main subscription. (P.S. The price of our 6-month Main kit subscriptions just went down to $29.95 a month!)

Thanks for visiting and reading 3 to Inspire. Send us a request to join the Facebook Citrus Twist Kits Fan Page. We'd love to see what you do with this challenge posted there or in the Citrus Twist Kits gallery.

Please join me in welcoming our new and continuing creative team. (We will be announcing more soon, so stay posted!)

Pocket Life Creative Team

April Joy Hill (United States)

Quirky crafter at heart.

Engineer by day.

New mom to adorable baby Hill.

Get ready for a new year of Pocket Life.

Hello 2015!

Amelie Mordret (France, living in the U.S.)

My name is Amélie Mordret. I’m 37 years old. I’m married and have two boys. The eldest is 9 years old and the youngest is 3. I'm from France but since since a few months, I live near Philadelphia PA. I started scrapbooking after the birth of my first son. I wanted to make him a baby book, and I have been addicted ever since.

I have always been really creative, and I enjoy drawing & painting. Scrapbooking has been a great avenue for me to express my creative side. I love making layouts and cards and occasionally mini-books.
I scrap whenever I can find free time. It allowed me to get away from the stress of my professional life but now I'm a stay at home Mum;)
I don’t really have a particular style, it really varies from project to project. I just love playing with different papers and trying new techniques. My projects often include stitching and lots of layering.

Janine Langer (Germany)

Hi, I am Janine Langer. I am 37, soon 38, years old and I live close to Cologne in Germany. I am wife, mother and I am the offical family photographer. That's what I also do for a living, btw, photographing. It hasn't always been that way, when I was much more younger I learned being a foreign language correspondent, I also worked for the German government. But that wasn't what I really wanted to do, and after I gave birth to my son and have been a stay-at-home mom for four years, I decided to do something completely different, and I love it!

I started scrapbooking when I concentrated more and more on photographing. I had the need to not only take the pictures, I also wanted to keep all the memories that came with the picture in one place. I think that was around 2006/2007. And since then I am hooked on it! Unfortunately I had to make a little break in scrapbooking, but now that I can do it again, I won't ever stop with it. It is my creative outlet, kind of like a therapy. :) And I love the thought of my son looking through all the albums, when he's a grown-up, maybe having his own little family!

I love being a part of this community, thanks a lot!

Olya Schmidt (Canada)

I’m Olya, a watercolor sketch artist by day and a scrapbooker by night. I have a weakness for pretty paper, notebooks and anything stationery.

Besides sketching my beautiful city, I try to do something creative every day, whether it's Project Life, art journaling, writing snailmail to my Instagram friends or working on mini books. When I create I simply feel happy and joyous, which makes me want to create even more.

Pamela Ho (Canada)

I'm a girl in her mid-20s with a degree in Business.

I'm a coffee junkie, paper hoarder and stamp addict.

I started off crafting as a card maker and only started my Project Life last year.

I love using it to document every little and big moment that happens in my life.

Trina Craig (United States)

Welcome 2015! I'm ready for an action-packed year documenting our adventures in my Pocket Life project.

This year I'll be using 2 Handbook albums to record life's important stuff through a mix of PL and mini scrapbook pages (with an occasional 8.5 x 11 page thrown in).

Life was a wild ride in 2014 and I look forward to playing in my craft studio this year, sharing how a busy mom and business owner keeps up with her Pocket Life.

Scrapbook Creative Team

Angie Gutshall (United States), Design Team Coordinator

Ashley Fowler (United States)

I am first a child of God, constantly seeking a deeper relationship with Him.

I am a wife, a sister, daughter, and a loyal friend.

Lastly, I am a therapist for adolescents, and a wannabe-scrapbooker-crafter always on the lookout for new crafty tools and anything related to paper.

Christin Gronnslett (Norway)

My name is Christin,  a 40  year old Norwegian living with husband and two kids, 7 and 5 in a small town south of Oslo, Norway. I first came into contact with scrapbooking  in 2002 after living and traveling in the US for six months,  but it wasn't until my daughter was born in 2009 I started to scrap on a daily basis, and I haven't looked back. So when the kids are asleep I sneak down in my scraproom in the basement to scrap.

I am a clean and simple scrapper, who just happened to dare to incorporate a few new techniques, but you will never ever see me fill a whole page with patterned paper.  I need my white space, like I need white walls in my house.  Words that have been described my style has been artsy, whimsical, fresh and colorful.  I don’t scrapbook to document, I am more in it for the fun and to just capture feelings, emotions and the many cute faces my kids make as they grow up.

Emma Wood (Australia)

Hi, I'm Emma!  I'm so excited to be a part of the Citrus Twist design team!  I live in country Victoria, Australia.  I'm mum to an awesome little dude, Zack - who features in the majority of my layouts.  I work full-time but in my spare time (when I'm not running around after Zack) I love to sit down and be creative with paper.   I've been scrapbooking for only a short time (this will be my fourth year) but its quickly become my favourite creative outlet.  I started with Project Life but soon found I enjoyed putting together 6x8 pages and almost all my layouts are this smaller size (the 6x8 size is so much easier and trickier at the same time!).  I love organising all my scrappy goodies almost as much as creating pages and you can often find me spending the entire day moving one pile of "stuff" from one side of the room to the other ;)

Eve Limacher (France)

Happy 2015!

Evelyn Yusuf (Indonesia)

I'm so excited to celebrate new year, 2015. I believe the new year gonna be awesome like before and can surprise me with good news.

I just wanna say stay positive, enjoy our day because life isn't complicated.

Life is Simple!

Jessy Christopher (Malaysia)

Happy 2015 to all of you! Hello I'm Jessy Christopher, a stay-at-home mum & an avid scrapbooker in Malaysia. Married to my very supportive husband, Eric for 9 years now. We have a beautiful baby girl, Katelynn & 2 feline fur-babies. I started off with digital & hybrid scrapbooking late 2007 and finally ventured into paper scrapbooking in the early of 2008. Currently I am designing for Maggie Holmes Design Team, Elle's Studio & Jillibean Soup. I am truly honoured to be a part of Citrus Twist Kits design team and looking forward to challenge myself as well as inspiring you.

Happy New Year everyone!

Lucia Barabas (Slovakia)

Hello! My name is Lucia.

I design patterns, blogs and brand identities and scrapbook a lot.

I also cook, craft, dream, read detective stories and love my pets.

Michelle Wedertz (United States)

Hello! I'm Michelle Wedertz and I am so excited to be part of the Citrus Twist Design Team. I am a happy mom of three, a wife, a lover of books and coffee, and a scrapbooker.  I live in a small town in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas in California. Besides scrapping and reading I love going on little adventures with my family, drinking coffee, taking pictures, and taking walks with my dog Rincon. I have been a scrapping machine since the birth of my oldest daughter in 2010 and wholeheartledly love the craft and the scrapping community.

Nathalie Leonelli (United States)

Hi! My name is Nathalie, originally from France, I now live in California with my husband and two boys. I have always loved anything paper related and, motivated by an intention to get photos out of shoeboxes, I dove into scrapbooking about 7 years ago. I love the process and I love sharing my creations. Kits are my favorites!

It is with great pleasure that I return to the Citrus Twist Design team in 2015!

You can find me blogging at http://anounceofcreativity.blogspot.com or follow me in Instagram: anounceofcreativity

Sandy Ang (Singapore)

I love playing with lines and shapes in my design and my style varies depending on the supplies I’m working with. It ranges from classic to quirky and eclectic. I approach each project as an avenue for creative expression and as an exciting opportunity to try something new. cheers, Sandy

Sunday Sketch Challenge with Trina

It's Trina here with another week and another lovely sketch from Design Girl Kasia. Her sketches are a sure way to keep scrapbooking all month long, no matter what size or format--scrapbooking or pocket pages--you are working in. Share your take on this week's sketch in our gallery and earn a chance to win a $5 gift certificate from Citrus Twist Kits.

These days, I'm pretty much working in 8.5 x 11 and 6 x 8 format. These sizes fit my lifestyle so much nicer and I can quickly complete a layout in either of these trim sizes.

Here is Kasia's sketch:

I converted the 12 x 12 sketch to the 8.5 x 11 inch format by cutting down on the background between the vertical borders on the left and right sides. I used 2 photos instead of 3 to better fit the 8.5 inch width of my page.

I started the layout by splattering Tinsel Color Shine randomly on white card stock, then used the fun trapezoid shapes from one of the new Amy Tangerine Stitched pattern papers to create the vertical borders on each side.

Here is a close-up:

The new kraft thickers from December's add-on inspired me to pull out my Heidi Swapp Color Shines in Tinsel and Black. I decided to mimic the popular hombre look by first painting the Tinsel Color Shine on with a brush. While the Tinsel was still wet, I painted over the lower half of each letter with the Black Color Shine, blending the Tinsel into the Black. Here is a close-up up of the end result:

I fussy-cut the butterflies out of one of the sheets of pattern paper in this kit:

Here is one last sneak:

Now it's your turn to take on this week's sketch!  We love to see what you do with our kits and sketches so please make sure to upload your projects to the Citrus Twist Gallery. And remember, by uploading your take on today's sketch to the gallery by 12/7, you will be entered to win a $5 Coupon to use on anything in the CTK Store!
