Travelers Notebook and Bible Journaling with Patricia

Hello beautiful CTK friends!  I hope you are enjoying or soon will be enjoying your kit(s).  The colors and patterns of the papers in the Life Crafted kit, inspire me like crazy.  They inspire me also to try something I don't normally do, and that is to use a very vibrant and busier pattern paper for a background.

So picking out my background pattern paper, I adhered that into my Traveler's Notebook on the right side.   Before finishing that side, I went to the left side and used another pattern paper, but in a neutral color and less busy pattern.  Then using the Let's Wander stamp set with the color inspiration from the pattern paper on the right, I started stamping.  I did some stamping right on the pattern paper, but did a lot of stamping onto more pattern paper and then detail cut out.  That soft orange really complements the right side.

For my photos, I used the This is Life digital stamps available this month in Photoshop Elements for my photos.  If you don't have software to work with your photos, you could also stamp directly onto your photo, like I did on my pattern papers.  I was able to create a clipping mask, so the photo shows only within the first circle and have a border.  If stamping, it would not have that white circle border.  I filled in with a little bit of embellishments and stamping to finish it, but since it covers most of the page, I turned to the subscriber's Explore Cut Aparts, using one of the labels to type my journaling in Photoshop Elements.

Then back to the right side, I printed a larger photo, layered with the same pattern paper I used for one of the circles on the left, added some die cuts, and the puffy stickers from the kit.

Keeping the details on this side lighter, lets the photo and the paper be balanced.

I love the vintage feel but also modern feel of this spread.  I have another project to share with a video!  Inspired by all of my leftovers, I decided to share a Bible Journaling entry with you today.

I used a combination of the subscriber cut file for this this month called Find Joy Everyday, using just the three hearts from it, die cuts and alpha stickers from the Life Crafted kit, the Crate Paper stickers and die cuts from the Add-On kit, the Let's Wander Stamp, The Travelers Notebook Stamp, and the Typewriter Font Stamp.  With those items picked, I started by stamping "wisdom," adding the hearts cut file, watercolors, journaling and then added in the stickers and die cuts.

I stayed with lots of blues and greens, but I love that tiny bit of the pink from the die cut heart.  To highlight my verses, I used the watercolors.  I was only going to do one side, but since part if it carried over, and I had my supplies out, I kept going!

I used the Floral Circle cut file from this month to start this side, but used the clear gesso that I use to prep my pages as the glue for this larger piece.  I did the same as I did on the left side using the watercolors, and then added the die cuts, stickers and stamps.

If you do any kind of art journaling, Bible Journaling, anything other than documenting, this is a fun way to use your leftovers and try a different creative process.  You can watch my video on my YouTube channel here in HD or below.  Thank you so much for stopping by!!  Happy creating!

Bible Journaling with Cece

Hey there, lovelies! Cece here and today I'm sharing how I used this month's GraceBox in my Bible. I absolutely love all the elements that came in this month's kit and enjoyed working on this page so much!

First, I put down some interest in the background using a stencil I had in my stash. I love using stencils because it's quick, easy, and mess-free. Next, I put down some of the die-cut that came in this month's kit. I love all the die-cuts! They're gorgeous. This bird spoke to me and reminded me of the old hymn His Eye Is On The Sparrow. I looked up the lyrics and God spoke to me and reminded me of how much He loves me and will always look out for me and take care of me. So I layered a couple of birds, leaves, and some flowers right in the center and made sure to put some on the edge of the page. Then I used the beautiful alpha stickers to spell out the word SPARROW. Last, I used the fabric strips to make some bow clips to add to the top of my page.

Here are a few more closeups.

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas!

Tuesday Tutorial with Cece

Hiya, friends! I’m here with a Tuesday Tutorial for you using this month’s GraceBox. I love all the elements that came in this month’s kit! Today, I’m working in the new Illustrating Bible.

First off, I used the Dina Wakely yellow acrylic paint and swiped it down using a paint card. I love this technique because it is the easiest way for me to get some paint or color down on my page, mess-free.

Next, I added some washy tape in matching colors to give this page a bit of interest.

Then I added the devotional card that came with the kit and clusters of Paige Taylor Evans whimsical floral die-cuts on the top and bottom corners of the page.

Last, I added the gold puffy alpha stickers to write out the word HUMILITY and some words from the stamp set and filled in the empty spaces with the super cute puffy mini heart stickers to give it a finished look. Finally, I topped the page with a bow clip that matched the colors I used on this page.

Here are a couple more closeups.

Sad to say this kit's already been sold out, but you can always still get the December kit which will be out before you know it! For those who have this kit, I can't wait to see how you create with it. Please share it over on the Citrus Twist Fan Page Facebook group.

I'm Cece and you can follow me on Instagram (@candiescorner) if you'd like to see more Bible journaling processes or posts. Until next time...

3-to-Inspire with Cece

Hi, friends! Cece here with a 3-to-Inspire challenge for you!

For today's challenge, I am using:
1. Acrylic Paint
2. Thicker Word Stickers
3. Alpha Stamps

Here's a page I made in my Bible using elements from the GraceBox kit.

1. Acrylic Paint in blue and purple which I swiped down using a paint card. This technique is a great way to get a nice thin layer of paint down on your page and is great for when you don't have a whole lot of time to paint in your Bibles or projects.

2. I love this pack of Thicker Stickers with all the fun words! I used the words "a" that I took out from another word and "adventure" that I cut up in syllables to give it some interest and fill up more of the margin space.

3. This beautiful Citrus Twist Kits Alpha Stamp set in this lovely font I used to spell out the word "great" for "a great adventure".

And here is the finished page! I love how simple and beautiful it turned out!

I'm excited to see how you use the elements in this kit! Be sure to join our Facebook group so we can all see how you created your lovely page.

Tuesday Tutorial with Cece

Hey, friends! Cece here with a Tuesday Tutorial for you all. Today, I'm sharing how this Bible journaling entry I did using the elements from this month's GraceBox came together.

First, I wanted to put some paint down on my page. The easiest way for me to get some color down was to use the paint card technique where I just put a bit of acrylic paint at the edge of my paint card and swiped the paint from left to right. I swiped down some light pink first in three different areas, then waited for it to dry before swiping down a sunny yellow color just below or above the pink.

Next, I fussy cut these florals from one of the patterned paper, used the Willow Lane alphas and "enough" die cut and placed them down to my liking.

Then I added the words "Christ is..." right above "more than enough." I knew I wanted to add more elements, so I placed some washy and layered them on top of each other on both the top and bottom and of the page. Then I took the Maggie Holmes Willow Lane Sparrow pattern paper and cut up the birds and placed them around the page and added some heart and cross die cuts to fill up some of the empty spaces.

Last, I added some lines to write down a short prayer and topped the page with the ribbon clips I made using the fabric strips that came in the kit.

I hope you enjoyed today tutorial. Come check out my on Instagram (@candiescorner) to see what else I've been doing with this kit and to follow my progress.

If you haven't already, check out the details of this kit in the shop. I look forward to see what you do with it.

Have a blessed week and keep on creating!

3-to-Inspire with Cece

Hello, friends! Cece here today with a 3-to-Inspire challenge for you! This month's #gracebox is super fun and has a load of goodies to create and play with.

For today's 3-to-Inspire, I will be creating with:

+ Pinkfresh Puffy White Alpha Stickers
+ Dina Wakely Media Turquoise Acrylic Paint
+ Citrus Kit White Cardstock Die Cuts

I am creating in my 100 Days of Bible Promises by Shanna Noel today and I'm working on Day 48. First, I scraped down some of this gorgeous turquoise acrylic paint using an old credit card. I love how smooth this paint is and how easy it was to put down. The scraping technique is an easy way to get some color on your page with very little mess.

Next, I put down some stamps and the puffy white alphas and wrote out -- "I'm still here with you. Forever and always by your side."

Last, I put down some of the die cuts to fill in some of the white spaces above the words.

I loved working with all the elements of this kit and loved how this page turned out and hope you do too! Remember to share your pages on the Citrus Twist Kits FB Fan Page or on social media and use the hashtag #citrustwistkits. I'm excited to see what you do with this kit.

Wishing you a great weekend and God bless!

Using Cut-Outs with Ashley

Hi'ya! Ashley @magmagandme here. I am opening my August GraceBox and pulling out my Bible today. I am going to show you a simple technique that has great impact.

"So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the LORD your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you."
Deut. 31:6

I choose my verse in Deut. 31 because it went nicely with the stamp set in this months box. But in the end didn't end up using the stamps at all. opps! But look how cute it is....

First, I picked a background color scheme. Pink. It's almost always pink. :) Knowing that I was going to make the white layer on top, I decided to go with one color, but used different shades of it.
A bunch of colors would be very busy and distract from the main layer. I used the .50 cent acrylic paint from Walmart.
Brush stroked on some layers & a bit of splattering.

Then I pulled the white cut out flowers and played around with placement. One trick to making your pieces go further is cutting them in half. You can put them on the edge of the page and people are non the wiser. It stretches them and helps the page look like it was snagged out of a larger piece of work.

Next, I glued them down and used the white alphas from the box to write out the main point from the verse.
I love how clean the white looks on the pink.
I also love how it pops right off the page.
The last step was taking a white and pink gel pen and adding a few subtle details on the painted background. It adds interest and layers without being too busy.

Not only was this verse a great reminder, I hope the process will inspire you to try a cut out layer over color!

Happy Creating!
