Tuesday Tutorial!

Hello and Merry Christmas!  I'm hoping you have had a delightful day so far and your family is healthy and happy.  Once the festivities are over, you might want to get crafty - maybe ink up some stamps and that is what I'm thinking that I'll be doing!  I have a fun and super simple tutorial for you today that I think can really help you personalize all of your projects.

The left hand side was kept super simple in order to let the stamping be the highlight.  I used a few bits and pieces from the Pleasant Valley Pocket Life Kit and it was the perfect way to put it all together!

I love stamping.  It's so much fun.  And it's also so easy to personalize your projects.  I mean, where else am I going to find something that says CAL over and over again?  Right here with the Spencer Solid Stamp Set and the Spencer Outline Stamp Set I was able to create exactly what I wanted by repeatedly stamping CAL over and over again.

Before you start, there's a couple of things to consider.  What colors will you use? I wanted to use a golden yellow and navy blue -- the colors of Cal [University of California - Berkley].  I also knew that I DID NOT want the stamping to line up perfectly.  I wanted it to be slightly and somewhat offset -- all of the letters being a little bit different.  Believe it or not, that is how I like this type of stamping best.  And these Spencer alphas are PERFECT with this!

I also wanted to make sure that each line didn't start the same way as the one before it.  So, I had to make sure to keep track of what I had started with on the line previous. I didn't want it to be too contrived or neat - I wanted to keep it casual and random.

Try stamping out your own designs!  Either use them to replace patterned paper or a large cluster of embellishments -- whatever your project calls for!

Tuesday Tutorial with Sarah

Happy Tuesday, Everyone!  Today I'm here with a tutorial that has to do with using square photos in your pocket pages.  I think square photos are often overlooked in pocket pages, typically because most pockets are sized for 3x4 or 4x6 cards.  However, I wanted to show you how you can still use square photos in those pockets and have a lot of fun with it!

Let's talk about 3 different ways to use this type of photo.  My photos are sized to 2.5 x 2.5 inches, which always seems to be the perfect size because I can keep a small white border and still have the photo fit on a 3x4 card.

In this first example I used two of the 6x8 papers from the December "Pleasant Valley" CTK pocket life kit and cut them both in half to make 4- 4x6 cards.  Then I took one of the 4x6 cards and cut it diagonally.  To make a pocket out of it, I simply applied double sided adhesive to the edges and then layered it on top of a 4x6 card that had a different pattern.  This makes a great pocket to tuck tickets or any small papers inside of.  Finally, I adhered my square photo right on top of that triangle pocket and added a couple of embellishments.

In this next example I layered my square photos on top of 3x4 cards.  I love doing this because it allows me to get more use out of my filler cards, and I also have room to do some more embellishing!

My last example is to treat a 4x6 card as a mini layout.  I like to keep my mini layouts simple so it doesn't get too busy with the rest of the pockets on the page, but this again can be a great way to use up some embellishments and just have fun with your pockets!

I hope you'll give some of these examples a try on your next pocket page layout!  Its a really fun way to switch things up from time to time.

Happy Crafting!

Tuesday Tutorial with Diane

Hi Guys! I LOVE all the digitals in the Citrus Twist shop and wanted to show you how easy it is to create your own TN sized pages using the digital journal cards. Plus, how to create your own stickers using the FREE cut apart files!

By simply opening the PDF in Photoshop and resizing the digital cards to 8.25 x 4.25, you can recreate your favourite cards into TN pages in minutes. Some cards can be printed as si, and some need a tiny bit of fangling to make sure that backgrounds and patterns reach all the way to the top of the page, without cutting off any text or design elements you love.

Once you've printed your TN pages and created your stickers, pages come together in no time with a photo and some journalling. Couldn't be easier!

So here's the tutorial for creating TN pages and stickers from the CTK digital files ...

Let me know if you have any questions and don't forget to post your layouts in the Facebook Fan Page so we can all see!

Tuesday Tutorial with Cece

Hiya, friends! I’m here with a Tuesday Tutorial for you using this month’s GraceBox. I love all the elements that came in this month’s kit! Today, I’m working in the new Illustrating Bible.

First off, I used the Dina Wakely yellow acrylic paint and swiped it down using a paint card. I love this technique because it is the easiest way for me to get some paint or color down on my page, mess-free.

Next, I added some washy tape in matching colors to give this page a bit of interest.

Then I added the devotional card that came with the kit and clusters of Paige Taylor Evans whimsical floral die-cuts on the top and bottom corners of the page.

Last, I added the gold puffy alpha stickers to write out the word HUMILITY and some words from the stamp set and filled in the empty spaces with the super cute puffy mini heart stickers to give it a finished look. Finally, I topped the page with a bow clip that matched the colors I used on this page.

Here are a couple more closeups.

Sad to say this kit's already been sold out, but you can always still get the December kit which will be out before you know it! For those who have this kit, I can't wait to see how you create with it. Please share it over on the Citrus Twist Fan Page Facebook group.

I'm Cece and you can follow me on Instagram (@candiescorner) if you'd like to see more Bible journaling processes or posts. Until next time...

Tuesday Tutorial with Melanie

Hey crafty friends! Melanie back with another Tuesday Tutorial for you. I love all the bright colors of this month's 'Sunshine in my Soul' Kits and I thought it would be fun to create some colorful backgrounds without using a Silhouette! I used the honeycomb paper from the Scrapbook Kit and punched out lots of hearts in different colors.

To create my first layout I placed the hearts on my page sorted by colors, I love the rainbow look it creates.

I replaced some of the hearts by diecuts and pieces from the Embellishment Kit and the Scrapbook Kit in the same colors.

After I had decided where everything would go, I ran the layout through my sewing machine and stitched through the centre of every heart.

I framed my photo by using the cute heart frame, put it on fun foam to make it pop and placed it on the top of the page. I finished the layout off by using some of the cute enamel shapes and framing it by putting it on the striped paper, which repeats all the colors from the page. I really love the light look of the page.

For my second layout I placed the hearts in circles on my page and sewed through every circle.

In between the heart circles I used a stamp from the stampset which is included in the Pocket Life Kit to add some interest and contrast.

I cut my photo into a circle, backed it on white paper and again used some foam adhesive to make it stand out. I placed the photo in the middle of my page.

I love all the craft related embellishments from the Whimsical Collection in this month's Kits and I used a picture of an old cake stand which belonged to my grandma which I use to store some of my inks.

I made a cluster of embellishments on the top left on the page and on the bottom right to create a diagonal.

I finished the layout off by adding some black splatters and also framed it to give it a little more contrast.

And because I still had some hearts left I also created a quick rainbow- heart card.

I hope, I inspired you to try this technique, you could use any shape and it would also look great on a black background or you could use white shapes on a colorful paper. Anyways, have fun creating and don't forget to share your work on instagram using the hashtag #citrustwistkits and in our Facebook Group so we can see your creations.

Happy crafting, Melanie

A Whimsical Tuesday Tutorial with Amanda Baldwin!

Hi CTK Friends!

Amanda here, for more November Kits inspiration with this month's edition of the Tuesday Tutorial!
I just fell head over heels with all the gorgeous papers and embellishments in the Sunshine In My Soul Scrapbook Kit - SO.much.pretty!!! I was especially drawn to all the Whimsical collection items from Paige Evans, and couldn't resist using them for today's post.
Here's what I've created.....

"Whimsical Dream"

Other Supplies: Shimmerz Paints Paste-eez in Peach Fuzz, & Shimmerz Paints Vibez in Pop Art Pink and Sweetheart.

Sigh! Full of whimsy indeed!
Happy girls are the prettiest, and when you team their photo with fussy cuts from the Paige Evan's Whimsical paper #3, you're bound to have sunshine in your soul!
I may have sat for an hour fussy cutting this entire sheet of paper, but I honestly think it was worth it!
Once cut, I played around with the layout design and what would work best for my tiny photo. I then applied my mixed media element, & added all those pretty blooms! It was then a case of lots of embellishments and pretty adornments to my sweet photo.
Let's take a closer look.....

Aren't they gorgeous girls?! Celebrating the happy life, for sure!

The Thickers from the Embellishment Kit are fabulous! Just look at that shiny foil title!
SO many pretty details from florals, to hearts and those sweet butterflies! Perfect for these two whimsical girls!

Just beautiful!
