3 to Inspire with Brenda 6/10

Good morning everyone! Happy Saturday.

Today I am bringing you a simple 3 to inspire. It is literally all about threes.

Here is your list:

Use 3 patterned papers

Use 3 tags

Use 3 different elements. (You can use as many of those three elements but choose just 3)

Here is my page using my threes.

I used the three patterned papers under the photo in different sizes. My tags were too big for the page so I cut them in half before placing them. The other three elements were the washi, dots and alpha.
I had actually thought to add a bonus challenge item and do three photos but I couldn't find my photo paper. It is still in a box from our recent move. ha

I hope you have fun making this challenge your own. Use the three prompts to create your own projects and share them with us in the CTK Gallery and/or on our Facebook Fan Page for a chance to win. Don't forget to add today's date in your title.
You can also upload to Instagram and tag us @citrustwistkits.

3 To Inspire | March 19, 2016

Good Morning, everyone! It's time for our Saturday "3 to Inspire" post! Like every weekend, the design team shares a layout or project they have created using three different prompts! We encourage our readers to play along and share their creations for a chance at a prize from Citrus Twist Kits!

Here are my three prompts:
-Use a grid design on your project
-Use watercolors
-Create a frame (using strips of paper, stamping, stitching, ect.)

Here's the layout I created using this month's Pocket Life Kit!

As always, we would love to see what you create! You can share on our Facebook page or in the Citrus Twist Gallery! Make sure you include the date of the challenge in the title of your submission!

Thanks for stopping by!

Saturday Inspiration With Sandy

For me this month is all about the pattern papers. I love the versatile selection Trina put into the June Beautiful Life Main Kit, Going Places Pattern Paper Kit and Seriously Happy Add-On Kit. I used a floral on each of my layout, pairing them with neutrals and smaller prints like the diamond or the arrow to get a different feel for each page. This first one about a local musical production is all calm and serene with it's blue-green colour palette.

Next pairing gold polka dots, toned down a ted with a vellum overlay from my stash, with black and white for a bold look. The design relies on a mixture of fonts from the oversized title to the scripted journal card and the tiny typewritten phrases - created using both the Main Kit stamp and the June Bring It On Stamp.

Finally this more funky page about my father's birthday present where I paired a neon blue and pink floral with Pantone's color of the year - Radiant Orchid. The look is very graphic with that big photo and headline style journaling.

Hope you enjoy scrapping with your June kits as much as I did. Happy Summer everyone !

Saturday Inspiration with Gina

Hi everyone, I'm here to share a couple of pages with you, created with the gorgeous 'Beautiful Life' main kit and a couple of items from the 'Day Tripping' embellishment kit. The main floral paper used here, made me think of vintage florals and was perfect for this funny pic of my daughter and her friend trying on what they call "granny florals" (or something your grandmother would wear) then taking selfies in the changeroom.. I've added some patterned paper squares down the side (after scraping a little white gesso over to soften the colours) then machine stitched in plain and zigzag for a patchwork effect..

IMG_1493_3

along with a couple of handcut stars, journaling, flair and chipboard arrow..

IMG_1473_3

to finish, I've added a few Studio Calico chipboard stars and stamping using the main kit stamp and "Bring it On" stamp add-on

IMG_1474_3

I've kept this layout quite simple, leaving quite a lot of white space, because I wanted to show off this beautiful white woodgrain cardstock, which has such great texture.. I really like mixture of white and cream together, along with mint, woodgrain and yellow. I've added a few paper layers behind the gauze and doily. A little machine stitching helps to hold it all down.

I hope you're enjoying your kits as much as I am..happy scrapping!

Saturday Inspiration with Nathalie

Hi there, I am back today to share two more pages created with the fabulous June 2014 main and embellishment kits:

☞ the constellation paper by Adrienne Looman + the vintage music sheet (both in the main kit) totally reminded me of a musical my youngest did in school called "Star Search"; he played Pluto :) I even included a QR code for the first time (thanks to Sam's tutorial found here) linking to my son saying his lines during the show! So fun!

I LOVE the veneer stars included in this kit and paired with coordinating sequins, I created this fun edge:

I added a piece of vellum (from my stash) to tame the busy background a bit.

KITS USED: Beautiful Life Main kit
NON-KIT ITEMS: vellum

☞ after that rather busy school page, I wanted to create something very clean. I gathered several pieces of green papers from the kit and created a quilt like background. The pops of yellow make the page fun and dynamic:

Filling a few spots with monochromatic embellishments as well as sewing some of the elements add texture to the page :

KITS USED: Beautiful Life Main kit, Day Tripping embellishment kit, alphas from February main kit

Come back all month long for more inspiration with the June kits! Happy scrapping!

Saturday Inspiration with Nathalie

Happy Saturday! I am happy to be here today to share two of my layouts created with the May Sparkle and Shine main kit and the Happy Girl embellishment kit:

Fill the blank came from the idea of having more about my husband into our family album. I noticed he was largely under-represented! The questions are from a special issue of Simple Scrapbooks called "Scrapbook shortcuts with quizzes and questions".

nathalie_filltheblankswithbanner_CTKmay2014
The design is based on a sketch from Scrap365

nathalie_fillintheblankscloseup_CTKmay2014

For a change of pace, I then created a 8.5x11 page. I forget how much I enjoy this format and should make more!
nathalie_pasteldenatawithbanner_CTKmay2014
In case you're wondering Pastel de nata is a portuguese pastry that we tried during our trip to Portugal last summer :)

Now make sure to stop by tomorrow to see who won the NSD $100 grab bag!
And Happy Mother's Day to all the CTK moms! :D

Today I'm challenging you to : Use Embellishments. Super easy right ? From brads to buttons, chipboards to enamel dots, washi tape to ribbons; any type of embellishment is fine. Just pick your favourites and show them off on a layout. The more the merrier so don't be afraid to pile them on.

My challenge is inspired by the awesome selection of embellishments in this month's Citrus Twist Kits. There are must-haves in each and every kit, which is saying something for a paper-lover like me. I've used something from each of the kit starting with a whole bunch of die-cut shapes on this vacation layout.

c3

Mixing translucent vellum and acrylic pieces from two different ephemera packs allows me to retain a feeling of lightness while layering. There are also rub-ons, label stickers and my absolute favourite - Simple Stories Photo Stickers. They go on totally clear and, if you are indecisive like me, you can easily reposition them without leaving behind any residue on your photo. That's neat !

Here are some tips for working with vellum and acrylic. For an even softer look, try flipping your shapes to the reverse side. To secure, you can tuck them partially under other layers to hide the adhesive, use a stapler or stitch them on with some embroidery thread. Hope you have fun with this challenge and don't forget to keep coming back all week to check out what the other designers have in store for you.

Wishing everyone a very Happy National Scrapbooking Week !

Saturday Inspiration With Sandy

Today's layout is inspired by the colours of the pattern papers in this month's kits. That doesn't mean I used a lot of papers on my page, rather it's about being inspired by the palette of colours and patterns represented. Here's a look at my thought process as I went about creating my layout :

f3

The first step is to gather a selection of my favourite papers from each of the April kits to serve as my inspiration. This sets the general direction that my layout will be mainly white and blue, with pops of yellow and orange accents. Several papers will actually make it onto my page : the powder blue text, the diagonal stripe and the wood grain.

c3

I like the idea of polka dots but the black and white seemed a little severe, so I replaced it with a Jen Allyson MME paper from the Pattern Paper Kit. As a background the pastel bubbles works beautifully, softening the angular lines of my L-shaped design.

g3

To provide accent colours I look to embellishments from the kits. The bright orange XOXO title comes from an Amy Tangerine die-cut tag. I carefully cut away the matting and re-stitch it onto a journaling card. To get a little pop of yellow, I used a Maggie Holmes label with the word Cutie on it.

k3

I've even included the idea of leaves from bottom corner of the inspiration picture. Not actual leaves per say, but rather a stitched feather tag peeping out above the photo. It's radiating ribs replicating the branching form of the leaves.

m4

I've included two shop items on my page, they are the blue mosaic pattern paper (from the Amy Tangerine Plus One 6x6 Pad) and the arrow journal card (from the Basic Grey Highline Capture Snippets). Do check out the Citrus Twist store as Trina has added lots of exciting embellishments that coordinate with the April kits.

h3

Like many of my fellow designers I love the mix of green, blue and citrus colours in this month's kits, and especially the fact that there lots of soft neutrals to pair with these colours. Hope you enjoy scrapping with these kits.

Saturday Inspiration with Nathalie

Happy reveal day CTK fans! :) I am very excited to share my first two pages with you and hopefully they'll inspire you to get those gorgeous April kits to work!

This first page was inspired by the pretty cloud paper included in the main kit and a recent blog post of mine. Also, I really wanted to add a quote on that typewriter tag from Amy Tan (from the embellishment kit):

KITS USED: April "Picture Perfect" main kit, "It is written" embellishment kit
NON-KIT ITEMS: date stamp, inks and paper clip

This second page is very different and a bit quirky as far as subjects go but I have been wanting to document our favorite items from the grocery chain Trader Joe's for quite some time. The fact that the kits matched wonderfully the gift card I wanted to include sealed the deal! :) The frames included in the main kit were the perfect starting point and allowed me to use multiple photos without overcrowding the page:

KITS USED: April "Picture Perfect" main kit, "It is written" embellishment kit, and the "Five star" rating stamp set available in the CTK store
NON-KIT ITEMS: date stamp, red alpha stickers

I wish you a very creative weekend and urge you to come back tomorrow to discover our first April sketch challenge!

Saturday Inspiration with Gina

Hi everyone, today I'm sharing a couple of layouts with you, created with the Fireflies main kit and Happy Little Moments embellishment kit.  On this first page I've used the Snapshots 'Click' paper as my background, which was perfect for the camera theme of my photo..

IMG_1116

I've layered around the photo using papers, Daily Flash die-cuts, exclusive CTK veneer and flair with some machine stitching and messy thread for extra texture..

IMG_1118

I've stamped one of the die-cuts with a stamp from the stamp add-on..love how the font matches that on patterned paper..

IMG_1119

Here is my second page.. I've used the die-cuts once again and to add layers and help the design to flow across the page.. also picking up the colour and pattern from Rhi's dress in the Studio Calico Lemon Lush paper and by misting the numbers for the title..

IMG_1120

a bit of random stamping with the main kit stamps and scattering of cork stars complete the layout..

Have you been creating with the March kit? We'd love to see, so please share your work on our facebook page!
