3-to-Inspire with Ashley

Hello everyone!  It's Ashley, and today I'm here with my first Design Team Blog post!  I've got a fun 3-to-Inspire challenge for you, based on my new Traveler's Notebook layout using the March 2020 "Weekender" Kit.  This challenge is a fun way to get those creative juices flowing and give you some ideas for using your Citrus Twist Kits.  You can create a layout, Traveler's Notebook layout or pocket page spread using the 3 prompts.  Just make sure to use all 3 prompts on whatever project you choose to do.

Here are this week's 3 prompts:

     1.  Use multiple photos - 3 or more
     2.  Cut your 6x8 papers into smaller shapes and incorporate them into your project (for example:
          small squares, circles, hexagons, etc.)
     3.  Mix Chipboard Stickers, Exclusive Die Cut Pieces and Puffy Heart stickers

Here's the Traveler's Notebook layout I created for the challenge, using the March "Weekender" Life Crafted Kit.

I loved all of the 6x8 patterned papers included in the March "Weekender" Kit and wanted to find a way to incorporate them into my layout.  I decided to trim the papers into 1.6 inch squares and use them to create a grid background.  Once I had the papers arranged and adhered the way I wanted them, I used my sewing machine to stitch along the edges of the squares horizontally and vertically.

This grid design gave me the perfect spots for adding my photos.  We went to Disney World in February and they had some beautiful painted butterflies in Epcot for International Festival of the Arts.  I snapped a photo of each of the kids in front of the butterfly they picked out and wanted to have them all on one layout.  This design provided me with a visual triangle that worked great for placing the photos.

Once I have my basics in place...background and photos...it's time for my favorite part of creating a layout - adding the embellishments!  There are some fun ticket shapes in the Exclusive Die Cut pack that fit just right in the square shapes I cut for my background.  I added those first and then decided on some other pieces I wanted for the layout.  I chose the cute speech bubble from the Chipboard Stickers and also placed a couple of the Puffy Heart Stickers.  I love to create a variety of textures on my projects with embellishments from the Kits.

My finishing touch for the layout was a die cut title.  I used the words "good" and "life" from the March 2020 Digital Stamp Set.  I wanted the words to be a little bolder, so I opened them in my Silhouette Studio Software and added an Offset to get the thickness I wanted.  I cut the title from White card stock so it would add a nice contrast with the patterned papers in the background.

Thanks so much for stopping by the Blog today!  I hope you'll join in the 3-to-Inspire challenge and have fun creating with the prompts.  You can share your projects in the Citrus Twist Facebook Fan Page, and I would love to see your take on the challenge, so make sure to tag me when you post!

3-to-Inspire with Marivi

Hello everyone, I'm Marivi, and I'm very happy to be here for the first time.

These are my three elements:
1. White background
2. Stitching
3. Alphabet stickers

I used a picture of the beautiful carousel in my city, with a card with colors that blends perfectly with it.I added a die-cut piece (Citrus Twits),too.

For the other page a white background and the precious golden puffy alphabet (Citrus Twits), for the title of the layout.
And finally I have sewn the title, to give a personal touch to the project.

I have left part of the leftover thread loose, to finish decorating,in addition to another die-cut, a margarita of the three that includes the package.

It is a very simple project, which I hope you like and inspire to create your work with this beautiful kit.

Greetings and see you soon.

3-TO-INSPIRE WITH ERICA

Hey Guys! It's Erica here with your last 3-to-Inspire challenge for the month.

This week's prompts are:

1. Use multiple photos
2. Stamp on your background
3. Use the leftover bits from your puffy sticker sheet creatively

Here's my take on the challenge using this month's Life Crafted Possibilities kit and the Good Vibes add on Stamp

Your first challenge is to use multiple photos on your spread. I used a full TN page on the right side, and on the left I used one of the 4x6 + Journal Spot Page Protectors to highlight my favourite photo.

Your second challenge is stamp on your background. I used this prompt to create texture on my background with the rays of sunshine from the Good Vibes add on Stamp.

I also used the sunburst from the same stamp set to highlight this cute sign on the hot dog cart. I took a photograph of the sign and then cut it out to use as a sentiment sticker.

Your third prompt is to use all the leftover bits on your puffy sticker sheet that you normally wouldn't even consider! That's all the insides of your stars and even the middle of your puffy alphas. I used the triangle shapes to mimic the sunbursts on all my circle embellishments, and the centers of your stars as enamel dots to sprinkle around.

I hope I've inspired you to try out these prompts in your projects. Have a crafty week!

3-to-inspire with Diane

Hi everyone, Diane here with another 3-to-inspire challenge for you! You can find this challenge here every Saturday for those who need a little extra creative push to get scrapbooking, to keep scrapbooking or for those who just like a challenge! Your take on this challenge can be a layout, Traveler's Notebook page or a pocket page spread in your Life Crafted and remember that you'll want to include all 3 prompts on your project.

Your prompts this week are:
  1. Use as many die cuts as possible
  2. Include some hidden journalling
  3. Put some puffy stickers on it!
Here’s my take on this challenge using the February "Possibilities" Life Crafted kit ...

I decided for this challenge I would create a page in my reading-themed Traveler's Notebook. I was inspired by the "chill" die cut because I had spent so much time forcing myself to take breaks and relax while reading this book. First I created my base for my hidden journalling by taking a tag from my stash and typing my journalling onto it, making sure it would be hidden by my photo. Then I used some washi tape to create a flap and viola, hidden journalling!

Then I started placing my die cut on my page, making sure that I started with the larger ones first and then filling in any gaps with smaller pieces. I was trying to create a diagonal from the bottom left to the top right so that my page still had some white space to stop it becoming too busy.

Once I felt happy with the general layout, I started sticking things down, rearranging as necessary. I filled in any little gaps with puffy stickers and stamps until my page was covered.

Here's a look at the process this spread took ...

Thanks for stopping by today and I'd love to see any page you create using this challenge so don't forget to tag me and share in the Citrus Twist Facebook Fan page!

3 To Inspire with Alena

     Hello, crafty friends!
Alena here today with a 3-to-Inspire challenge for you!
    Here's the prompts I chose:

  1. Use layering.
  2. Use a cut file.
  3. Use stamps.

I am using the February 2020 Possibilities Life Crafted Kit  and  Traveler's Notebook stamps for my pages today.
I usually use color photos in my Project Life. But today I wanted to use black-white photo. In this case, it is very easy to add embellishments. Just use whatever you like.

I love this grey patterned paper with handwritten text. I divided it into two parts and used them on both pages. Thus, the whole spread looks harmonious.

Layering always looks good. You can layer pieces of paper left over from previous projects, pieces of vellum, labels, and so on.
Also I added accents with machine stitching

Remember to share your creations with us on the Citrus Twist Kits Friends page on Facebook or by using #CTK, @Citrustwistkits on social media.

3 to Inspire with Marsha

Hey friends!  It's Marsha here with this week's 3-to-Inspire challenge.  This is always one of my favorite challenges to host, and it's even more exciting today because the new kits for February just released!  To join in, be sure to use all three prompts on your project.

Here are this week's prompts:

1. Use ephemera or die cuts
2. Add a large title
3. Do some stamping

Here's my take on the challenge using the NEW February "Possibilities" Life Crafted kit and the Spencer Solid Alpha Stamp:

To begin my layout, I printed two traveler's notebook ledger papers from this month's digital TN papers.  I chose to use a neutral background because I knew I wanted to add a large stamped title.  Using the Spencer Solid Alpha Stamp, I stamped the word "Driving" using blue distress oxide ink.  This is one of my favorite alpha stamp sets- LOVE the bold look it provides!  I did a bit more stamping using black ink and the kit stamp.  Next, I layered a few ephemera pieces, also from the Possibilities kit.

I couldn't resist using the ephemera keys and banner from the kit in a small cluster at the top of the page.  They worked perfectly with this story documenting my son driving.

For the other side of the spread, I typed my journaling on the computer and printed it directly onto the ledger paper.  I trimmed the multi-pattern kit paper into three strips and adhered them to the edge of the page.  Next, I layered my photo over a journaling card and trimmed the top of it into a ticket shape, following the ticket print on the top of the card. To embellish, I stamped a few sentiments onto labels using the kit stamp and layered ephemera and chipboard circular pieces over the edges of the photo.  To complete the spread, I added some puffy heart stickers to a few areas on the layout.

I hope I have inspired you to create a page using this week's 3-to-Inspire prompts!  I will see you again soon!

xo,

3-to-inspire with Diane

Hi everyone, Diane here with another 3-to-inspire challenge for you! You can find this challenge here every Saturday for those who need a little extra creative push to get scrapbooking, to keep scrapbooking or for those who just like a challenge! Your take on this challenge can be a layout, Traveler's Notebook page or a pocket page spread in your Life Crafted and remember that you'll want to include all 3 prompts on your project.

Your prompts this week are:
  1. Create a rainbow
  2. Use border punches (or cut files, or distressing...)
  3. Stamp a title
Here’s my take on this challenge using the January Life Crafted kit ...

I started by creating two base pages for my Life Crafted album, both from white card stock sized at 5 x 8.25 inches. Then I choose 5 of the exclusive 6x8 papers to create my rainbow with. I'll admit, my interpretation of a rainbow is pretty loose, but I still love this colour scheme!

From each of the patterned papers, I cut strips that were 1 x 5 inches and then each strip got punched with my border punch. I carefully lined them up the page in rainbow order to make sure I had enough to cover the background (SPOILER: I did not have enough and had to cut more!). Once I knew I had the right number, I adhered them down.

I added my photo with a piece of craft foam for dimension and some vellum to tie in my journalling on the left hand page. Under my photo I added a label with the year stamped on it and a few puffy stickers for contrast.

I stamped my title using the Solid and Outline alpha stamp in 3 different colours. I stamped the outline in a darker shade and then filled in the letters with a lighter shade of the same colour. I then added a few smaller scraps of punched paper to the top and bottom to add some colour and tie the two pages together.

I stitched my journalling in place, as well as stitching around the edge of my layered page to secure all the strips firmly. And then I called my page done!

Here's a look at the process this spread took ...

3-To-Inspire with Elizabeth

Hello friends.  HAPPY, happy New Year.  And, HAPPY Saturday too.  I'm DELIGHTED to share another 3-to-inspire challenge with you.  This weekly series is designed to help YOU channel your inner MOJO.  To participate, simply include ALL three of the following prompts in ANY project.

The prompts this week include:

1.  Make a LIST.
2.  MODIFY a card.
3.  Add a PUFFY sticker (or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5).

Here's my take on this challenge using the "Fierce and Fabulous" kit...

As you can see, I chose to do a two-page spread in my Life Crafted Album.  The first prompt, Make a LIST, seemed TIMELY for the beginning of a new year.  This kit has SO many options for lists - numbers, symbols and icons.  I used one of the number stamps to document five of my personal GOALS for 2020.

The second prompt, MODIFY a card, can take courage.  You're the BOSS.  USE the kit.  Don't be afraid to cut, punch or use PART of a quote or phrase.  In this layout, I cut a 3x8 bookmark into three pieces.  I used the largest one to create my list.

I used the second piece to REPEAT color and add journaling to my right-hand page.  ( I still have the top to use on yet ANOTHER project).

The final prompt is PUFFY stickers.  I'm a bit OBSESSED.  I love the variety and DIMENSION.  I try to add embellishments in ODD numbers.  I also try include a VARIETY of shapes and styles.

I hope this challenge provides some inspiration.  HAPPY crafting.
