Sunday Sketch with Nathalie

Hello everyone!
Nathalie with you today with this week's Sunday Sketch.   At this time, when we all are living in a state of caution, crafting seems to be a perfect escape for all the news that are bombarding our lives.   Today, i want to share with you all, how i used this week's sketch to document snapshots of our lives using the March kits.  Let me show you the sketch:

I love the versatility of the sketch, and how it helps to kick start your creative process.  Well, i wanted to show you how it can easily transform the sketch from a scrapbook layout to a Life Crafted entry.

For my Scrapbook layout, i chose to work with the March 2020 Add On Kit.   All the Stamp Market papers were the perfect background for the picture of my little guy.  I stayed pretty close to the original sketch with a few minor changes.

The sketch asks for pieces of paper as picture corners, i chose to change them for small floral clusters and labels ( these both are ephemera pieces from the Add On kit), and even switch the position of one of them so that it doesn't cover an important part of the picture.

Another change was the title placement.  The sketch calls for a small place mat (available for free to subscribers, or for sale at the CTK Digital shop) cut out, instead, i supersize one of the PL cards and used the space add my journal lines.  I created a pocket from vellum and placed it in between the pictures, so i can slide the journal card easily.

puffy

I move the title to the top of the page, and chose to add a large cluster of flowers to balance the page. A small piece of ephemera from the WEEKENDER kit was stitched on top of the flowers as the title for the page.  A few stamped sentiments in the labels and under the title ( Life Crafted and TN stamp), a few enamel dots and the puffy butterfly complete the page.

Now, let me show you how i used the sketch as inspiration for this Life Crafted layout:

It was so easy to convert the sketch to a Life Crafted layout by just rotating it 90 degrees.  This time, i use the Weekender  kit to complete this page...

I chose to size down the pictures to squares, and pretty much follow the sketch to create the layers behind the picture.  I cut some of the paper, and the 4x6 cards to create the layers.   The  title card comes from the PL digital cards.   I chose to add bits of hand stitching around the page to add texture on the layout.

I followed the sketch as to where to place the journal ( i used Photoshop to create a journal box  that will hold my writing).  Once i printed the paper, i glued a large strip of paper to the right of the page, than hand stitched a cluster of elements to it just as the sketch shows.  A few more stamped sentiments complete this page.

I hope this has inspire you to check the March Kits and use this week's sketch to create a project of your own.  Remember to share with us your finished projects,  we love to see what you create, too!

'Til next time!

Sunday Sketch with Sheree

Hi everyone!

I’m so happy to be here on the blog today to share the Sunday Sketch with you!  I love working with sketches and this has to be one of my favourites yet!  Let’s take a look…

Here’s what I came up with using the gorgeous March “Weekender” Life Crafted Kit

Since I really liked the sketch I pretty much stuck to the basic design.  I decided on two inch square photos and matted each of them with the pretty teal paper from the kit.  I also chose white cardstock for the background so the colourful papers and embellishments would really pop.

Across the top of the page I positioned the first photo and added some messy machine stitching to the top left corner and a chipboard circle embellishment to the top right.   Next to this I have a strip of the yellow paper from the kit with a stamped sentiment from the new March2020 Life Crafted Traveler’s Notebook Stamp Set and a puffy heart sticker.  There is also ticket and phrase die cut embellishments grouped together which I also added some stitching to.

Across the middle of the layout I layered lots of the puffy heart stickers together in their own little cluster just like in the sketch…so fun!  The photo to the right has a line of stitching across the top for a little texture.

At the bottom section of the page is the third photo.  I added a die cut tab with another stamped sentiment from the same stamp set that I used earlier.  To the right I used the “Comments” die cut for the title and I absolutely love these letter stickers in the kit this month!  Underneath is one of the labels from the cut apart sheet.  I added more stitching and made my own little date tag from white cardstock, added some twine which was stapled into place and another puffy heart sticker was the final touch.

You can see my process in the video below...

I had so much fun working with this sketch and I hope I’ve inspired you to have a go at it too!

Thank you for joining me on the blog today!  I look forward to sharing more “Weekender” Kit projects with you soon.

Enjoy your Sunday!

Sunday Sketch with Marsha

Hey friends!  It's Marsha here with you today sharing this week's Sunday Sketch Challenge.  My project came together so quickly using the sketch and the gorgeous Scrapbooking Add-on Kit and This Is Life "Weekend Life" Stamp!

Here's a look at the sketch:

Here's the layout I created:

For my project today, I chose to create a spread in my Life Crafted Album, instead of doing a traditional 12x12 or 8.5x11 page.  To begin, I trimmed some white cardstock to 5x8.25 inches to serve as base pages for my project.  Following the sketch, I trimmed two patterned papers to span across both sides of the album.  I typed my journaling on a piece of white cardstock and used the This Is Life "Weekend Life" Stamp to add a bit of stamping above and below the journaling. Next, I used the Magical Forest Copper Alphabet Stickers to add the word "good."  I used a black and white striped paper from this month's Life Crafted kit to add a hand-cut pennant banner above the journaling block.  This little detail was found in the sketch and I love the extra interest and texture it adds to the page!

For the other side of the layout, I fussy cut a large floral piece from a patterned paper in the Add-on kit.  Then, I layered my photo over a "remember" card I trimmed from a cut apart sheet in the kit.  To embellish, I added some gold polka dot washi tape, a puffy butterfly sticker, and an ephemera tab and label.

For the top portion of the spread, I followed the sketch and added a strip of patterned paper across the top of the layout.  I tucked another fussy cut floral behind the strip.

For the title, I stamped the word "weekend" using the Weekend Life stamp and black ink.  I used the copper alpha stickers to complete the title and added an ephemera tab to the edge of the page.  As a final finishing touch, I added some machine stitching to several areas of the layout.

Thank you for stopping by today!  I hope you will join in on this week's Sunday Sketch Challenge and share your project with us on the CTK Facebook Fan Page or on Instagram using #citrustwistkits.  I will see you again soon!

Sunday Sketch with Kira

Hey there!  It's Kira and I am back with another Sunday Sketch.  I am working in my Life Crafted album and using this month's add-on kit.  Here's a look at the sketch:

And my completed layout:

I started with this photo of my son, which, no joke, looks like he committed murder.  Lol.  I caught this photo after he enjoyed a red frosted cupcake at the park.  I decided to play off the red/orange and greens in the photo and gravitated towards those colors for my embellishments.

I fussy cut out a few of the flowers from The Stamp Market's floral paper.  Since I only had a single photo for this layout, I used the flower to "stand in" for the 2nd photo the sketch calls for.

I love the detail on the sketch with the layering of multiple labels.  I used a red label and a yellow label, both cut from a cutapart sheet from The Stamp Market.  I added some bakers twine from my stash and a few tiny attacher staples.

On the reverse page, I typed up my journaling on my computer.  Then I added a fussy cut flower to the top of the page, layering on top of it die cuts and puffy stickers from the kit.  I finished off the entire layout with black splatters.

Thanks for stopping by!  I can't wait to see how you interpret this sketch!

Sunday Sketch with Tina

Hey CTK friends!

Tina here on the blog today to share a new Sunday Sketch Challenge with you! I loved playing with this sketch along so much and should say that my layout came together really quickly and easy thanks to the gorgeous February Add-On Kit !

First I decided to rotate the sketch 90° around to use a portrait style photo instead of a landscape one. After that I started to work on the background for my page and chose my favorite rainbow pattern paper from the Add-On Kit for this. I've fussy cut rainbow curves leaving a little bit of white paper on both sides of them and also I drew a few clouds on the rest of the paper and cut them out.

Next I punched holes along the edge of all the pieces I've prepared before and hand stitched them using matching embroidery thread. And then I adhered all the rainbow pieces and clouds onto the textured white cardstock from the kit.

After that I created a paper cluster behind the photo of my daughter and added journaling instead of the second photo on the sketch. Using lots of beautiful bits and pieces from the Add-On Kit I embellished the photo and journaling.

To finish my layout I added a title using the "Hello" puffy sticker and dark green alphabet thickers. It was such a pleasure to create this page with the help of such a gorgeous kit! I hope I was able to inspire you to use this week's sketch!

Thank you so much for stopping by! Happy crafting!

I love to kick start my layouts using a sketch, makes everything so much easier. I've been playing with the fabulous February POSSIBILITIES Life Crafted Kit for this page and I stayed very close to the beautiful sketch.Though I cheated with my handwritten journaling using a few beautiful sentiment stamps from two of the February Add on sets, this and this one.
