Sunday Sketch with Kira

Hey there!  It's Kira and I am back with today's Sunday Sketch!  Here's a look at the sketch I am using today:

And here's my take on the sketch:

Movie nights are a big deal in our house.  My kids each have a basket that I decorate to coordinate with whatever movie we are watching.  Of course when Encanto came out, we needed to do a movie night.  Since I hadn't seen the movie yet before movie night, I gathered most of my inspiration for decorating from our local Fiesta celebration with lots of bright colors and flowers.

So when I saw the flowers in the Handcrafted mini kit, I knew I wanted to scrapbook the photos of our Encanto movie night.  I started by printing out my three photos as 2" squares.

I layered the three photos on papers from the Happy Heart kit.  And built an embellishment cluster with a flower die cut and puffy phrase sticker  from the Handcrafted kit and a puffy heart from the Happy Heart kit.

On the opposite page I used the ombre alpha stickers for my title, which I stitched over the top of and layered with a puffy sticker from the Happy Heart kit.  Under the title I added a phrase sticker and a flower puffy sticker.

For my journaling, I typed on top of the pink grid paper from the Happy Heart kit and used a washi puffy sticker so it looked like a note was stuck to my page.  I added the cactus puffy sticker as a nod to Isabella from Encanto.

Thank you for stopping by!  I can't wait to see how you use this sketch!

Sunday Sketch with Angela

Hello friends, happy Sunday!
It's Angela here and today I am on the blog with our Sunday Sketch Challenge. This is the sketch I played with this week

It is a beautiful 12x12 inch sketch with a single photo and a fun banner on the side. I created my page using The Best Parts Life Crafted kit as well as September Add-on kit. Here is what I came up with!

At first I planned to use the pink patterned paper from the Add-on kit, paper Blooming from Fresh Bouquet collection  by Crate Paper, but I preferred to save those gorgeous flowers on the reverse side for another project. Also, I wanted to get messy and create my color background. So, after the initial hesitation, I chose white card-stock for as the base of my page. This came with the Add-on kit too.

Just a little side note; the layout is dedicate to my friend Valentina, my sweet girlfriend I spent the summer with. Here is the meaning of the title, Vale is the abbreviation of her name and I stamped it on the layout using my favorite stamp ever, Citrus Twist Kits Madison Alphabet.

Now, back to the background. I used Distress Oxide inks in yellow, pink and green. First, I added some water to the pigment and used them with a brush, like watercolors. When the color was dry, I added a second layer of color of pure pigment using a brayer.

Instead of using tickets and numbers like the sketch, I fussy cut a few tags from paper Old School by Heidi Swapp and hanged them to a piece of string to create the banner.

I stamped a few phrases from September Traveler's Notebook stamp in black, to balance the page with the black title. Last, I added a few die cuts and stickers from the kits and voilĂ !

If you'd like to see me in action, here is the process video of the layout.

Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope you like the layout and feel inspired to create your own version of the sketch. If so, please share it on the Citrus Twits Kits Fan page on Facebook, we would love to see your pages!
Love, NG

Open Post with Nikki Kehr

Hello Citrus Twist Kits Friends,

Nikki here, with a new Inspiration made with the beautiful June Kits. This time I take a combination of the Life Crafted Kit and Add On Kit.

The journaling card with the words "Happy Thoughts" caught my eye. I wanted it to be the center of the layout next to the photo. For this I tried to work tone on tone and set small highlights that round off the layout but do not distract.

I prefer to decorate with many different materials and sizes of embellishments. This creates a diversity and liveliness. I make sure that I pick up the main colors of the layout again and only set one or two accent colors. In this layout, the main color is purple and the accents are yellow and light blue.

Finally, I always find the right stamp and decorate the layout with small passages of text. Here I used the stamp set "Yes" in addition to the stamp set from the Life Crafted Kit.

I hope you enjoyed the little inspiration and motivated you to get creative yourself. I am glad that you stopped by and we will see us again soon.

Sunday Sketch with Nikki

Hello Citrus Twist Kits Fans,

Nikki here with a inspiration for a scrapbook layout which I created with this week´s Sunday Sketch and the March Life Crafted Kit. Here is the sketch:

I love that the striped layout creates a lot of room for creativity. It is so versatile and you can freely combine the axes.

This is my version of implementing the sketch. As you can see, I have reinterpreted the stripes and replaced the three-way combination of the photos with bags in which a photo and the journaling have their place.

For the stripes in the background, I randomly cut a pattern paper into stripes so that they are crooked. This makes the background a little more lively and you can also work with smaller papers.

The bags were created from the journal cards. I sewed the stripes in the background and the bags with the sewing machine. The seams give the layout a certain something :)

After the base was finished, I cut the cards for into the pockets. With the Puffy Stickers, Alpha Stickers and Die Cuts I then decorated everything and finished the layout.

I hope you enjoyed the little inspiration for the sunday sketch and motivated you to get creative yourself. I am glad that you stopped by and we will see us again soo.

Sunday Sketch with Kira

Hey there!  It's Kira and I am back with another Sunday Sketch!  I am using the February Life Crafted Kit and working in my Life Crafted album.  Here's a look at the sketch I am using today:

And here's a look at my completed layout:

I have been starting every layout in this album with journaling, some of my journaling is a story I am telling to Folsom (my dog who passed away, and who the album is focused on), but a lot of my journaling is a letter to someone whom the story relates to.  In this layout, it is a letter to Hobbs, my dog that was a few years older than Folsom, who died a few years back.  I typed out the letter on white cardstock and cut down to 4.25x8.25.

Then on the reverse page, I stuck fairly close to the sketch.  I had one photo of Folsom, sized at 3.5x3.5.  I used some patterened paper from the LC kit, and placed my photo tilted on the paper.  Instead of a label, I used the die cut bird as my embellishment.

I used some more patterned paper as the bordered strips on the layout.  And I used some machine stitching to add some texture. I also brought some of the strips of paper to the journaling page, since I had about an 1" of white space at the bottom of the page.

I wanted to include a photo of Hobbs dog to the layout, so I printed out a photo that would fit in the die cut frame.  Then I adhered that on top of a journaling card that I punched to fit in the LC album

Thanks for stopping by!  I can't wait to see how you use this week's sketch!

Wish List with Kira

Hey there!  It's Kira and I am back with a look at a layout I made for my December Daily album, using the December add-on kit from Citrus Twist Kits.

My kids received some Amazon toy catalogs this year and it didn't take my five year old long before he was filling up the "holiday wish list" page with all of the presents he wants Santa to bring him.  I caught this photo of him diligently writing it up while we were on a walk one day.  And then after his list was complete, I took a photo of it (he won't let me have the list yet, but when he tires of carrying it around, I'll stick it in my album too.

I started by printing my photos.  I am working in a 6x8 album, so the photos are around 2" wide.  I printed them in black and white since the colors in the photos would've clashed with each other and with my kit.

Then I spent a bit of time fussy cutting all of the stars out of the specialty paper included in the kit.  I created an envelope with my envelope punch board, and created a layout where it looked like the stars and photos were floating out of the envelope.  Some things are adhered with foam adhesive for added dimension.

I used the foam thickers to create the title "Wish List" and used some of the gold thicker stars to embellish the page.

Thanks for stopping by!

Sunday Sketch with Kira

Hey there!  It's Kira and I am back with two layouts for this week's Sunday Sketch!  Here's a look at the sketch for today:

The first layout I made is for my fall TN:

I decided to flip the sketch on it's side and split it in my TN.  I used the add on kit for this layout and absolutely love the fall feel of the kit!

For the left side cluster, I used an exclusive cut file and layered it with a die cut flower and tag and added some puffy sticker thickers for some added texture.

The second layout I created is 8.5x11 and I used the Life Crafted kit (and one piece of paper from the add on kit).  I kept the sketch in it's upright position and stuck closely to the sketch.

I used the vellum die cut leaves to layer under my photo and added some chipboard pieces and yellow thread to add some texture.

The bottom cluster was created using vellum speech bubbles, stamped with some phrases from the LC kit.  I added some additional thread and a chipboard heart as well.

I can't wait to see how you use this sketch!
