3 To Inspire with Veera

It's time for this week's 3 To Inspire Challenge! Here are my three prompts for you:
  1. Layer tags
  2. Use elements from previous kits
  3. Use a color that you haven't used a lot

For this layout, I wanted to challenge myself to use the gorgeous purple that was included in the June scrapbook kit. I really like that color but haven't really used that in my scrapbook layouts.

When I saw the die cuts 1, 2, 3 I knew I wanted to create a list. My original idea was to add journaling to this list but that didn't work as I hated how my handwriting looked. Tags to the rescue and I covered the journaling with the tags. Instead of writing my own journaling I took some old phrase stickers from previous CTK kit to act as my journaling.

Even though I wasn't brave enough to have handwritten journaling on my layout I encourage you to do so! I really like how handwritten journaling looks on layouts and I want to learn how to add that to my layouts more!

Now is your turn to use the prompts to create a project of your own.  Remember to share your creations on the Citrus Twist Kits Friends page on Facebook, or on social media (please tag @citrustwistkits) .   I look forward to see how you interpret the prompts in your pages.

Sunday Sketch with Veera

It's Sunday and that means a new weekly sketch!

This sketch is fun and gives a possibility to use two photos. As I normally use only one photo per layout I thought I show you how you can do that also with this sketch.

Instead of using two photos I used one photo and one square card from May ephemera pack. This way I have two fairly same size elements as my main focus point. I followed the sketch fairly closely as I really liked the elements in the sketch.

Now it's your turn!  To play along with this week's sketch and to be eligible to win a $5 gift certificate to the CTK Store,  create a layout based off of this week's sketch and upload it to the CTK Facebook group with today's date (05/27) in the description. Can't wait to see what you all come up with!!

Traveler's Notebook with Veera

Hi, it's Veera here today to share a traveler's notebook spread I created with the wonderful April kit. I was so inspired by the bold and fun colors so I wanted to incorporate that to my spread.

As traveler's notebook is slightly smaller format than 12x12 layout that I also do, I wanted to make sure that the layout is not too busy. I added majority of the colors and embellishments to the right side with bold and colorful pattern paper. To balance this, I kept the left side of the spread fairly neutral but still had a strong element there also to keep the two sides in balance.

The gold glitter phrase from Dear Lizzy is a good example of the fact that even though the format of TN is smaller you don't need to use only small embellishments.

On the right side I used embellishments of different colors and shapes. The embellishments blend quite nicely to the background but still add interest.

Are you loving the colors of April kit as much as I am?

3 To Inspire with Veera

It's time for this week's 3 To Inspire! It's Veera here today to share you this weeks' prompts and two projects I made with these prompts using March kits.

This week I'm challenging to use

  1. Stripes
  2. Tags/banners
  3. Hearts
This time I wanted to show you two different type of projects with the same prompts: 12x12 layout and traveler's notebook spread.

Both of these projects have the prompt "stripes" as a form of pattern paper. In the layout I used a part of patter paper in the color of white and peach horizontally. The traveler's notebook spread has a piece of pattern paper with from Crate Paper with those beautiful painted stripes.

The element with the "tags/banners" is similar in both projects in form of product used. I used the Pinkfresh Studio leatherette tags from March Embellishment kit. For the layout I placed the tags as banner.

This time "hearts" was a easy prompt as the March "Lemon Drop" scrapbook kit had those beautiful epoxy hearts by Pinkfresh Studio. I just love the soft, glossy and stylish effect these hearts add to any project!

Now it's your turn to show how you interpret the prompts!  If you play along, don't forget to upload your project to the CTK gallery and/or Facebook group for a chance to win a $5 coupon to the store!

Product Showcase with Kira, Anna and Veera

Hey everyone!  It's Kira and I am back with Anna and Veera for another product spotlight.  This month we wanted to highlight and show y'all a few ways to use the Here and There ephemera that was included in the main "Lemon Drop" scrapbook kit.

First off, how perfect are the colors in this collection?!  I chose this photo of my son Elliott outside and I played off the blue in his shirt and the orange of the pot beside him.  I also loved the neutral pieces along with the rose gold, which played off the other colors in my photo.

I personally LOVE ephemera, but sometimes, does it ever feel like you're drowning in it?!  Which is why I like to create really ephemera-heavy layouts at times.  I started with a couple of the journaling cards that were from the "Photo Op" paper.  I layered one behind my photo and another beside it, but slightly lower.

Then I started layering my ephemera.  I don't think there is any wrong way to create a layout like this.  Grab pieces you like and tuck them every which way around your photo!  Seriously, have fun with it!

I also used a frame from the ephemera pack, but felt like it was missing something.  Easy fix!  I grabbed one of the stamps (I chose "snapshot") from the kit, and stamped right on it for a unique piece of ephemera.

You can watch my entire process here.  I can't wait to see how you use the ephemera in this kit as well!

Hi CTK friends! Anna here with my Product Showcase page. But first I want to say that I adore my team mates, Kira & Veera, stunning pages. Super inspiring indeed!

Well, here's what I came up with.

This is one of my absolutely favorite views. The sunrise in California, from the kitchen of one of my best friends. This silhouette is super exotic for a Swedish girl, lol!

These gorgeous Here+There Ephemeras are just perfect for my page, love them all!

Hi, It’s Veera here to show you our last product showcase layout. It’s no secret that I love ephemera and this time wasn’t an exception. One of my favorite ways to use ephemera, especially when there are bigger pieces of ephemera included like in this case, is grid design.

In this grid layout I have used mostly elements from the ephemera pack. With all the different colors and shapes I was able to create a loose grid. I layered the ephemera pieces to create additional interest. I tried to use a variety of shapes and sizes.

Tip of the day: It might be a good idea to use ruler when starting the grid so that it’s not all crocked like mine!

We hope that you are now inspired to use the Here+There Ephemera pack from your kit!

Sunday Sketch with Veera and Kathleen

It's time for another Sunday Sketch Challenge! This week's sketch is so versatile and works with so many type of projects! This time we have two times of inspiration for you with two layouts: one by Veera and one by Kathleen.

Veera's turn first: It was so fun working with Kathleen, you will be amazed with the layout she did! I followed up the sketch very closely. I only used 12x12 as my background instead of 9x11. I didn't have a suitable landscape picture so I used a smaller square picture but included a piece from ephemera pack to bring a bit more shape behind the picture.

I also added a bit more flowers as embellishments. I used a visual triangle to create interest to the layout.

Now it's Kathleen's turn:

Hey there, it’s Kathleen here again and I am so happy that I got to do this Sunday Sketch together with Veera! Her layouts are always absolutely gorgeous, very light and airy with lots of white space! :) It’s no surprise then that this sketch was perfect for her ;)

As you can see, for my interpretation of the sketch I actually stuck quite closely to it and didn’t change much at all. Basically I flipped almost the complete sketch horizontally and moved the upper paper strip to the top of my page, simply because my photo was relatively big and the paper strip didn’t really work where it is shown in the sketch.

For my layout I used the gorgeous Cedar Grove scrapbook kit and the embellishment kit. This photo was just perfect to use with these kits because I could find all the colours from the photo in the papers and embellishments, too.

The only things I added from my stash are the white and golden enamel accents and the „you make me happy“ stamp beneath my title. Speaking of which: how could I live without these alpha stickers?! I’m pretty sure I will need at least one more set of these!! The colour is stunning! I love that it’s more of a champagne/platinum gold rather than a yellow gold. And the big and small letters are such a great thing, too. I am pretty much in love with them, haha :D

I hope Veera and I could inspire you to give this sketch a try, too! And if you do, don’t forget to post your layout in the member gallery and/or facebook group together with the date of today’s blogpost, so you will be eligible to win a $5 gift certificate for the CTK shop! :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Tuesday Tutorial with Veera

It's Veera here today to share this week's Tuesday Tutorial. This time I don't have just one but two process videos for you! Both of these are scrapbook layouts made with the lovely January kits.

I'm a quick scrapper which means that these videos will be quick to watch through, thanks for iMovie's speed up function :)

In this first layout I wanted to use those pom-pom frames. See the process video from here: https://youtu.be/R0sR2xYe_B0

In the other layout I was inspired by the ephemera pack and wanted to use all those notebook inspired elements. See the process video from here: https://youtu.be/jqZg2Wwhfc4

I hope you liked the layouts and videos!
