Let's Get Digital with Kira

Hey Citrus Twist fans!  It's Kira and I am back with another 8.5x11 layout using a mix of the December kits.

Have you checked out the exclusive cut files for the month?  I was immediately drawn towards the poinsettia cut file.  I knew it would be perfect for this conversation my son and I had about Santa.

I started by cutting the cut file fairly large from white cardstock.  When I cut it, I thought I might cut up the cut file slightly, but didn't have much of a plan until I actually got it cut out.  I backed it with papers from the main kit and the pocket life kit.  After it was backed, I decided to cut some of the leaves and other decorative elements off, leaving just the large poinsettia.

The photo I used for this page is a filtered selfie of my son and I, since the "story" on this page is a conversation him and I had as Christmas was approaching.  I backed the photo with the "Confetti" paper included in the add on kit.  Then I tucked a couple of tabs from the PL die cut pack on top of the photo.

I decided to use the wood grain side of the "Harrison" paper (included in the main kit) as my background.  I placed my poinsettia in the lower left corner and sort of nestled my photo into the flower.  I used some of the leaves I had cut from the cut file, underneath my photo.

The title was perfect for this story!  I used the word "believe" from the Shimelle thickers included in the add-on kit.  I finished off the layout with some embellishment clusters in the upper left and bottom right clusters.  I added some typed journaling strips and black splatters and called the page done.

I can't wait to see how you plan to use the cut files this month!

Mixed Media with Adele

Hey all!

Today I am playing with some mixed media and the gorgeous December Main Scrapbooking Kit. I decided to crack open my junk journal and do some "scrap-journaling" using a photo along with some paint and a stencil.

I used some of the gorgeous Crate Paper goodies included in the December kit today. I also created a process video at the end of this post, showing more details about each step I took using the mixed media.

I added paint and stenciling to the right hand side of my spread and overlapped the spine to create a more seamless look across the two pages.

Do you enjoy art journaling? I love including photos in my junk journal in a fun creative (and painty!) way. Have an awesome weekend scrappy peeps!

Pleasant Valley Pocket Page with Andrea

Hello sweet friends! Raise your hand if you are flying through your Pleasant Valley kit! It's so darn easy to use and the COLORS! Can we talk about the colors for a second? The pinks and blues in this kit are perfect for Fall days, Summer documenting, or even Winter pages. Today I'm sharing how I used them for a fun trip to our favorite orchard!

The day was warm and sunny so I wanted to bring out that vibe with the colors. I followed my typical pocket page formula of alternating photos and cards and sneaking in some smaller photos on the cards that have lots of room!

The colored puffy stickers make this title card POP! Since I had so many colors to choose from, I decided to do a rainbow effect with the colors that would contrast with the pink paper. Adding the floral sticker to the top and the word strip to the bottom finished it off!

The simple little yellow strip over the blue striped heart was the perfect place to stamp a little sentiment! Also, layering labels and stamps and photos and hearts is such an easy way to add color and story!

I spiced up this cute pink pocket card with a yellow puffy heart, a stamped statement, and some journaling.

Thanks so much for being here today and checking out how I am using the Pleasant Valley kits! Have a super crafty week!

Sunday Sketch with Nathalie

Hi there!
Nathalie with you today with the first Sunday Sketch for December using the new revealed Pleasant Valley kits! How gorgeous are they!!!  Since we are already getting snow here in Toronto, I think this sketch is perfect for the season, but trust me it can work with any season.  Let me show you the sketch:

This time, I want to show you how versatile this sketch can be. So i created both a layout and TN spread with it; let's start with the Scrapbook layout:

For this page, I chose to work with this month's Add-On kit -since it is filled with Winter theme papers and embellishments- and one of this month's free  cut files.

I chose to stay true to the sketch with just a few small changes.   First i added a few extra snowflakes to the page, and decided to take away the small triangles on the top picture, and replace them with a layer of paper and some embellishments.

The bottom part of the page was created following the sketch.  I love all the colors and patterns of the Simple Stories papers in the add on kit!  But decided to use the Shine On paper from the Patterned Paper Play kit as the background for the page.   I added a few extra snowflakes cut from vellu, and  added some embellishments around the layers.  The sentiments all come from this month's TN stamp.

Love how this turned out, the colors of the kit are perfect for the cute pictures of our baby playing on the snow, but since we are already talking snow, I decided to continue the "winter" team to my TN using this sketch to document our first snowfall of the season.

This time, the sketch was flipped by 90 degrees to fit the format.   I decided to go for a large picture instead of a two picture spread, but decide to use the snowflakes that are in the sketch to help me tell the story.

The title of this page was added to the center of the picture using one of the cut outs and one of the cut apart elements from this month's free printable.

I continue the layered look of the cards onto the other half of the TN using papers, embellishments and cards from the PL kit.  To add the ilusion of dimension, I simply added glue just to the top part of the cards, and layer a few vellum snowflakes in between.  I chose to add a large snowflake in place of the second picture, and added a few sentiments using this month's TN stamp.

Did i mentioned that this sketch is super versatile? and about all the beautiful Pleasant Valley  kits!  Well, then it is time for you be inspired by the sketch to create a page of your own.  Remember to share your creations with us on the Citrus Twist Kits Friends page on Facebook or by using #CTK, @Citrustwistkits on social media.  I cannot wait to see what you create with this sketch.
