Everyday Documenting with Nathalie

Hi there!

Nathalie with you today with a new new pages using the beautiful Fresh Starts kit and the Life Crafted album.   Are you loving  the new album?!  Honestly, what is not to love about it, i mean it is versatile, compact and a time saver.  So today, i want to give  you a few quick ideas on how to use the kit and the album when documenting every day details.

I love large titles, so I took advantage of the 3x8 card that is included in the Fresh Starts kit to build this simple page about my daughter's 16th birthday picture.

I tool advantage of this month's TN stamp and This is Life stamp to build upon the title.  Since this is  all about my wishes for her, what better way than to add  a few flying wishes - dandelion seeds- to the background.

To keep the clean look of the page, i added my journal to a tag that is hidden behind the picture in a vellum pocket.  A few of the stickers from the kit complete this page.

Love how this turned out, and how fast it is to put together!, but since i am all about everyday documenting in this new format, i went ahead and added a new entry on the following page, this time is all about my son's new haircut (FINALLY!)

Once again i went for a simple but striking look for this page.   I reached for the Spencer Alpha and Outline stamps for this page, as i wanted to create a bold title for the page.

I decided to trim the picture into a circle so that it becomes the focus of the page.    Next it was all about using the large alpha stamps to create the title around the picture.  First i stamped the top word using the bold alpha, and then used the outline alpha to create the next word by stamping them on one of the patterned papers and fussy cutting them.

The beauty of CTK stamps is how flexible they are! so, i used a few sentiments from the add on and TN stamps to complete the circle around picture. Then i added a few extra stickers using foam adhesive -LOVE LOVE LOVE being able to add dimension in this new format-

I love how simple these entries are, and how easy they come together in the Life Crafted album, the following video will give you a more in-depth look on how they came together:

Remember to stop by Citrus Twist Kits to check the kits and the album, soon you will see the new kit (gorgeous one , btw!).  As always if you have questions on how these came together, leave me a comment.

Sunday Sketch with Amanda!

Hi Citrus Twist Kit Friends!

It's Sunday, and that can only mean one thing - let's get our sketch on!!!
Amanda here, & I just love the Sunday Sketch challenge! Such a fun & relaxing way to start off the week!
Here's the sketch we're playing along with this week....

Isn't this a cool layout design?!
Here's my take on it....

"Xmas"

Oh, what a cutie! Such a lovely Christmas moment documented!

CTK Supplies | Pleasant Valley Pocket Life Kit, Pattern Paper Kit (Crate Paper Merry Days pattern paper), & the December Embellishment Kit.
Other: Watercolor paint droplets.

I have drawn on the colors in my darling photograph, and created a Christmas layout with no actual Christmas supplies. For this to be successful, I use a crisp white, mint and red color scheme, as well as puffy sticker stars and a reindeer die cut embellishment. Combined with my Christmas photo, it totally works! I have pretty much kept to the sketch design, only giving it a little Happy Arty Days twist!
Here's a few close ups for you.....

There are so many beautiful details here! From lovely layers to sweet embellishments - the Pleasant Valley Pocket Life Kit is really something!

Loving the Puffy Sticker title, and those layered tags!

I used those fabulous printed label stickers as my journaling, and the die cut hearts in place of the banner at the top of the page. Perfect!

Simple. Sweet. Sketch complete! Now it's your turn!
What will you create with this week's sketch?

Be sure to share your creating with us in the Facebook Citrus Twist Kits Fan Page HERE - we love seeing everything you make, & love to talk paper too!

Thanks so much for visiting today,

Traveller's Notebook Challenge with Nathalie

Hi there!

It is my first time creating a challenge in one of my favorite memory documenting formats, Traveler's Notebooks.  It is no secret, I  love TNs, and keep a daily visual journal of my everyday life, plus a few other side projects -all in TN formats-.   I love the format as it allows me to combine the graphic look of a scrapbook page, and the journal look of my dairies.

By now, some of you are receiving the Pleasant Valley Kits (aren't they gorgeous?!!!), well this month two new sets of stamps were also added to the store,  Spencer Alphabet and Spencer Alphabet outline.    I love the large font and clear look of the alphas, so i decided to used them to document some every day memories in my personal journal.

For the first entry, i decided first on a color combination that will make everything pop.   Then i used the Spencer Alpha stamp set to create the large title of this layout.

The impact of the title makes it one of the focus of the page, so i made sure that it told the story of the picture.

Love the colors in this month's Pleasant Valley PL kit, so it was easy to stay in the same color combo when adding the clusters around the picture. To finish this page, i added a few more stamping sentiments using the TN stamp set.    Any clues on what the challenge is, yet? Let me give you another hint.

For this page, I chose to tell the story by using the Spencer Alpha Outline Stamp set to create a large title.

To bring life into the page, stamped the title on different papers from the Pleasant Valley Scrapbook Kit, and then fussy cut around them, the font is so clean and crisp that it took no time to get this done.

The letters were then glued to form the large title, and this time i added stamped sentiments using this month's add-on stamp set.

How lucky  was i to find a few sunglassed  in the puffy stickers from the Goldenrot collection, included in this month's embellishment kit, they complete my title.  Since the story is told in the title, i just used one of the labels, from the Emerson collection stickers included in the main kit, and used it to hide the rest of the journal in a pocket behind the picture.

By now you have guessed this week's challenge:  CREATE A LARGE TITLE.  Use stamps, alphas, paper or the Spencer Alpha stamp sets to create titles that will tell the story of your page and create lots of impact on your pages.   Trust me it, once you build the title, 80% of your page is done.  So you will be able to produce them in no time!

Remember to share with us what you create with this challenge either on social media using @citrustwistkits or #citrustwistkits or on CTK friends page on Facebook.  I cannot wait how you interprete the challenge.

Sunday Sketch with Nathalie

Hi there!
Nathalie with you today with the first Sunday Sketch for December using the new revealed Pleasant Valley kits! How gorgeous are they!!!  Since we are already getting snow here in Toronto, I think this sketch is perfect for the season, but trust me it can work with any season.  Let me show you the sketch:

This time, I want to show you how versatile this sketch can be. So i created both a layout and TN spread with it; let's start with the Scrapbook layout:

For this page, I chose to work with this month's Add-On kit -since it is filled with Winter theme papers and embellishments- and one of this month's free  cut files.

I chose to stay true to the sketch with just a few small changes.   First i added a few extra snowflakes to the page, and decided to take away the small triangles on the top picture, and replace them with a layer of paper and some embellishments.

The bottom part of the page was created following the sketch.  I love all the colors and patterns of the Simple Stories papers in the add on kit!  But decided to use the Shine On paper from the Patterned Paper Play kit as the background for the page.   I added a few extra snowflakes cut from vellu, and  added some embellishments around the layers.  The sentiments all come from this month's TN stamp.

Love how this turned out, the colors of the kit are perfect for the cute pictures of our baby playing on the snow, but since we are already talking snow, I decided to continue the "winter" team to my TN using this sketch to document our first snowfall of the season.

This time, the sketch was flipped by 90 degrees to fit the format.   I decided to go for a large picture instead of a two picture spread, but decide to use the snowflakes that are in the sketch to help me tell the story.

The title of this page was added to the center of the picture using one of the cut outs and one of the cut apart elements from this month's free printable.

I continue the layered look of the cards onto the other half of the TN using papers, embellishments and cards from the PL kit.  To add the ilusion of dimension, I simply added glue just to the top part of the cards, and layer a few vellum snowflakes in between.  I chose to add a large snowflake in place of the second picture, and added a few sentiments using this month's TN stamp.

Did i mentioned that this sketch is super versatile? and about all the beautiful Pleasant Valley  kits!  Well, then it is time for you be inspired by the sketch to create a page of your own.  Remember to share your creations with us on the Citrus Twist Kits Friends page on Facebook or by using #CTK, @Citrustwistkits on social media.  I cannot wait to see what you create with this sketch.

Happy Birthday Folsom! with Kira

It's my dog's birthday, y'all!!  Folsom is 12 today!  So it only seemed fitting that I make a Folsom centered layout.

My oldest son has a blankie, that he takes EVERYWHERE!  He is slightly obsessed with his blankie.  So when he "shares" blankie with anyone, it is the highest honor.  And when I caught him placing it on Folsom, I had to snag a photo of it.

I decided to cut a large "F" out of this floral paper found in the main kit.  The rest of my page was coordinated to match the floral paper.

I used one of the journaling cards from the Pocket Life kit as a subtitle.  I roughed up the edges to give it some texture.

Then it was just a matter of embellishing.  I used bits and pieces from a lot of the kits, but my favorite pieces have to be the floral die cuts from the PL kit!

Thanks for stopping by!

3 to Inspire with Anna and Kira

Hey friends, it's Kira and I am back with Anna for 3 to Inspire.  There is so much yummy goodness in the July "Skyland" kits, that it was hard to narrow down our prompts this week!  But we did and our prompts are:

1.  Use vellum

2.  Include stamping

3.  Incorporate the Pink Fresh Studio fabric stickers

Here's a look at my layout using these prompts:

I am mildly obsessed with vellum, and would be giddy if we received a sheet in the kits every month (hint, hint Trina),  So it wasn't hard to figure out a way to use it on my page.  I decided to tuck my journaling into a vellum pocket.  I created a vellum pocket using the vellum, my scoreboard and my sewing machine to adhere it all together.  One of the journaling cards from the pocket life kit fits perfectly inside and I love how the vellum softens the black and white of the card.

Stamping is another element I absolutely love adding on a page.  Have you seen the Conversation Starters stamp set yet?! I could use these stamps on every page from now until the end of eternity (and you will likely see me do just that!).  I thought it would be cute to add some stamping along the stripes of my background paper.  I used the phrase "this is what I love most" because it perfectly summed up how I felt about my youngest son obsessively eating Doritos while being stalked by seagulls on our recent beach trip.  Lol.

Now prompt #3...oh boy.  I tried really hard to make the fabric stickers work for my page.  (And you'll see later how perfectly Anna was able to make them work on hers!)  But I made the mistake of going too light and bright on my page and then the fabric stickers felt oddly out of place.  So I altered them!  This is such an easy way to make products work for you!  I experimented with quite a few of the stickers and found that a light coat of white gesso will still let the words show through, if you like that look.  You can add other elements like stamping or ink on top of the gesso for yet another look.  And stitching over top of the fabric stickers is super easy, because they're fabric!  I used white gesso on mine and added a little stitching over the top!

Now let's see how Anna used the prompts this week!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi dear CTK friends! Anna here in company with my super talented scrappy friend Kira (Don't you just love Kira's page? It's beyond wonderful) bringing you this week's 3 to Inspire promts. And as Kira said this month's kits are (as always) jam packed with goodies so it was a challenge to narrow it down to three promts.
Anyway, we made it and here we go :) And here's what I came up with

I opted for a pretty limited and masculine color scheme and even the design is clean and simple. I  acctually like how it turned out ( if I can say it myself, lol)
And I succeded to incorporate some vellum (in my layers) some stamping and even the fabric stickers, check!

For this layout I've used the July Skyland Scrapbook kit the Pocket Life kit and the This is Life "Daily Routine" stamps as well.

And there you have it! Both Kira and I made it through, using all three promps (and a few more pieces, lol), YAY!
I hope we have inspired you to give it a go! Can't wait to see :)
