Sunday Sketch with Sheree

Hi everyone!

It's Sheree here to share today's Sunday Sketch with you all!  This sketch is an 8.5 x 11 inch sketch but it could easily be adapted to 12 x 12 inches if you prefer that size.  Let's take a look...

Here's what I came up...

I used papers and embellishments from the May 2020 Scrapbooking Add-on Kit along with the digital version of one of the TN papers from the May 2020 Journeys Kit.  I started with a white cardstock background, then added a floral strip across the bottom of the page and a strip of the labels paper across the top before adding some stitching.

I used a punch to add a notebook paper look to the edge of the digital TN paper then layered it with two other patterned papers underneath the photo.

At the bottom of the photo I used one of the acrylic speech bubbles as the title, then added the phrase and ladybird stickers.  I also used my sewing machine to stitch a little trail behind the ladybird.

To the left of the photo I added a label from the labels paper which I stamped with the date, then added the journaling strips underneath.  Stitching was added across the page above the photo and along each of the journaling strips too.  I finished off by adding another ladybird sticker and some messy thread to the left of the date label.

Sketches really do make it so quick and easy to pull a layout together!

Hybrid Life Crafted Spread with Sheree

Hello everyone!


It’s Sheree here on the blog with you today with a life crafted spread featuring the May Scrapbooking Add-on Kit and a little digital goodness mixed in too.

For the first page of the spread I chose a white, clean cardstock background so that the colours of the embellishments would really pop.  I added a strip of the dark blue TN patterned paper from the digital version of “Journeys” Life Crafted Kit across the bottom of the page and added some machine stitching.

I used a two inch square photo behind the frame from the add-on kit foam and cardstock sticker pack and added a floral sticker in the bottom left corner.  The embellishment cluster above the photo frame was created using a speech bubble and puffy stickers also from the add-on kit.

The title was cut from the script paper in the add-on kit then I added a label from the digital cut-apart elements for the date underneath.  A little stitching was added across the label too for added texture.

The journaling was added to a digital version of the “Journeys” Journal Cards, a puffy sticker positioned in the bottom right corner, then I stitched around the edge.

I also printed out the digital version of the journal card with the phrase “just as you are”, stitched around the edge and added a yellow heart sticker to finish it off.

While the May Scrapbooking Add-on Kit is sold out, you can still get the digital items from the Life Crafted Kit in the shop and they’re so much fun to use!  I hope I’ve inspired to give them a try!

Sunday Sketch with Krystal

Hey everyone! Krystal here with this week's sketch. I'm so excited to be working with a sketch this week, and I can't wait to share what I've created! First of all, here's this week's sketch.

And here's the page I made!

I used both the "Journeys" Life Crafted Kit and the May Scrapbook Add-On for this page, and I LOVE how it turned out.

I followed the sketch pretty closely for this one. I knew I wanted to use the Amy Tangerine paper from the Scrapbook Add-On for my background layer, and chose papers from the Life Crafted Kit to coordinate with it. 

I added journaling directly to my background cardstock using my typewriter. I love adding my journaling this way! I made sure I knew where all of the elements on my page were going to go, then before gluing anything down, I ran the whole thing through my typewriter. So easy!

For my title, I used a combination of the alphas from the Add-On and one of the die cut ephemera pieces from the Life Crafted Kit. I love the combination of these fonts and how they nestle together. 

Once I had all of the elements from the sketch in place, I decided to add a few extra bits and pieces to further embellish the page and make it my own. I chose a few of the adorable little flowers from the Thickers set in the Add-On and added a few more die cuts from the ephemera pack as well. 

And that's my page all finished! I love how easy it is to put a page together using a sketch. It's perfect for times when you're not feeling super creative or when you're feeling paralyzed by the blank page. Having a pre-determined design gives you someplace to start and helps to get the creative ball rolling.

Sunday Sketch with Angela

It's Angela here and today it's Sunday Sketch! Yay!!

Personally, I love using sketches in scrapbooking because they make the work much easier and pages come together so quickly.

Here is what I came up with, using May 2020 Journeys Life Crafted kit and Scrapbooking Add-On Kit

and here is the sketch I worked with

It is supposed to be a three photos page but, instead I substituted two of them with journaling cards. One card has a beautiful quote I want to dedicate to my son in the photo and the second one is where I wrote the journaling. 

I wrote the journaling with my computer and then printed on vellum. Then, I glued it on the card. If you are having trouble printing on vellum, like me, I solved the problem this way. I stick vellum on the paper with a strip of washi tape and than print. 

It's mainly a black and white page. I used Miss Modern Script Word by The Stamp Market as a base for my layout and I added a just a touch of color using pink and light blue. I really loved the shade of pink and blues that are in Life Crafted kit and I am not afraid to use pink for masculine layouts, especially since my son loves pink and it is comfortable wearing it.

I added a bit of stamping under the photo, using Journeys stamps, from Life Crafted kit and Daytripping stamp. Even if they have travel theme, they are perfect for my son, a young growing man. Life, somehow is a journey.

As in the sketch, I decorated the borders on top and bottom of the page with little strips of sewed together and added a little cluster with the title at the bottom right. The blue letters of the title are Puffy Stickers exclusive from Citrus Twist and you can find them in Life Crafted kit.

Using Cut Files with Shannon

Hey there, scrappy friends! Shannon here with a pocket page using cut files. I combined the May 2020 Journeys Life Crafted Kit with the May 2020 Scrapbooking Add-On Kit and added some cut files from the May 2020 release. I loved all the colors in the kits so they were the perfect fit for this stained glass chalk art that my daughters made in front of our house.

I started the project knowing that I wanted to use the GEOTAGGED Cut File to create a title card for my page. I use a Silhouette so once I brought the file into the Silhouette software I erased all of the phrases except "home." I then resized it to fit a 4x6 card. Once I had it cut, I pulled some patterned paper together to back each letter. I wanted a little variety and lots of colors! The papers are a mix of the May 2020 Life Crafted Kit papers and the May 2020 Scrapbooking Add-On Kit. I used teal cardstock as the card base to let the eye rest among all of those patterns! It was the perfect backing for the lighter teal alphas that were part of the Life Crafted kit this month. I purposely added those for a monochromatic look to, again, give the eye a chance to rest.

I will admit that this was my first time backing a cut file. I have no idea if I did it in the right or most efficient way! But I'll explain my process anyway.

1. Cut the outline.

2. Choose your patterned paper. If you're going to back the whole thing with the same patterned paper then you can simply cut the file again on that and use the negative space to back it. Otherwise...

3. Cut the paper slightly bigger than the size of the space you're backing.

4. Adhere the outline to the patterned paper using a thin line of glue.

5. Once the glue dries, use scissors or a xacto to carefully cut away the excess.

The second cut file that I used is from the JOURNEYS TITLES set. Just like with the first one, I pulled this into my software, erased what I didn't need, and resized to fit my card. Since I wanted this one on patterned paper, I chose to back it with the plain teal cardstock and the rainbow cardstock. It allowed me to add a pop of color without being too overwhelming. I used the May 2020 This Is Life DAYTRIPPING Stamp to stamp an arrow that leads the eye down to my photo. A puffy sticker from the Scrapbooking Add-On Kit completes the card. The sentiment is perfect for this die cut!

Once I had my cut files completed and placed where I wanted them, I got to work on the rest of the page. I only used one other journaling card and I kept it neutral. The card is numbered for a list so I chose to list the steps we took to make this design.  I also used some ephemera, a label, a puffy sticker, and a stamp to make my own small cluster on a photo. I didn't want to take away from the artwork that I was documenting so I had to keep it simple and small. 

I finished off the page by adding a couple of small accents to my other 4x6 photos using product from the May 2020 Scrapbooking Add-On Kit. I can't get enough of those acetate speech bubbles!
