Pocket Life Challenge -Candace

Hello friends!  Candace back with you today to share a new pocket life challenge.  I am in love with the May pocket life kit!  So many fun colors and themes this month it is perfect to tell your everyday moments and memories.  Here is a look at the page I created using this month's kit.

Currently, I am caught up on my 2018 album so I decided to go back a few years and find a few pages that still needed to be completed.  Since I always print out my photos and put them in the pockets all I had to do was to look through my past album and find a page with no cards.  I was not in love with the photo quality in this spread,  but I knew that these stories still needed to be told.  This leads to my first two challenges.

1.  Go back and complete a spread that still needs to be documented.

2.  Don't worry about the photo quality.  Memories captured and documented are the most important part of memory keeping so if you don't love the photo quality, don't worry about it!  Get those memories documented!

When I was working on the spread I came to one card that the opposite card in the spread was a tag.  No worries!  All I did was insert my journaling on the card then cut it to match the shape of the card on the opposite side!

3.  Customize a journaling card to match your spread.  Think about shapes that could compliment the theme and feel of your spread.

Since this spread was about my little guy turning three I wanted an embellishment that symbolized this.  In the physical kit there was nothing with a 3 on it but in the digital kit there was!  Yea!  I printed and cut out the embellishment and added it to a 3x4 card.

4.  Go digital.  Mix your physical kit with the digital cards and embellishments to stretch your kit even farther!

Such a fun spread!  I love the mix of blues and pinks.  I happy that I completed an old spread and documented these memories and moments.  I am so glad that I had the digital cards and embellishments to mix with the kit, now I can create even more spreads!  What will you create this month?  I can't wait to see!  Have fun!

Stay Wild, Stay Sassy TN with Kira

Hey friends!  It's Kira and I am back with a travelers notebook spread.  I am documenting our recent trip to the Poteet Strawberry Festival, which, if I am being completely honest, was a disaster.  Our youngest son is notorious for getting sassy when he's hungry (a trait he gets from his dad).  And we mistakenly didn't feed him enough breakfast before we left home.  Combine that with an hour long car ride and standing in line for another 30 minutes, and you're just asking for a sassy toddler.

Once we got Elliott fed, things improved (not entirely, but that's another story for another scrapbook layout).  I snapped a few pictures of him eating and calming down.  And chose this one for this layout.

I was immediately drawn to the frame ephemera piece from Wild Heart that says "Stay Sassy".  Ellie gets referred to as "Sass Pants" all the time, so it seemed fitting for him.  I love that its a circle cut out of the frame instead of a square, so I wanted to repeat that element in other parts of the layout.

The next piece I found was the circle ephemera that says "Stay Wild"...another piece made just for Elliott.  Since I was going for a sassy/wild theme, I reached for the paper Roar, from Crate Paper.  I had originally planned to just use the black and white pattern but loved the pop of yellow from the reverse side.

There were so many other fun elements in this months kits that were perfect for this layout, like the PFS puffy sticker that says "My Bad" and the tiny word sticker from CTK that says "URG!"

And here's the finished layout again!  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Meet our May Guest Designer & Tuesday Tutorial with Ginny Hughes

Today we are so excited to share with you our May Guest Designer, Ginny Hughes!

My name is Ginny Hughes and I live in NH with my husband and 5 kids, ages 7 to 14. I work full time at hospital in Health Information Management and I spend my spare time sewing, reading, scrapbooking. Ha, just kidding my spare time is spent shuttling kids around! I don’t have a big scrap space but I am so grateful that I have a little room in our home to spend some quiet time. It is usually pretty messy but it is an organized mess. I use the typewriter & sewing machine all the time. My husband built me a huge desk and I love it! I am inspired by photos & stories so that is where I usually start and project. I used to only scrap 8.5x11 layouts, but more recently I have fallen in love with pocket pages and TN scrapping, it is fun to discover something new in a craft that I have been doing for many, many years.

Q&A with Ginny

When did you start scrapbooking?

I started scrapbooking about 12 years ago, I have taken quite a few breaks over the years but I always come back!

What is something most people would not know about you?

I have 5 kids, so I have plenty of things to scrap about just not a lot of time to scrap!

What are three scrapbooking products you can’t live without?

Enamel stickers of any shape, Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher & a good grid paper. Pretty boring, but the basics never go out of style, right?

What do you love about the Malibu kit?

I love the colors and those cut out labels were my fave!!

Finish this sentence - If you could see my scrapbooking space now..

You would wonder how I could get anything done in there! Haha, it’s a little messy right now.

And now onto our Tuesday Tutorial..

-------------------------------------

I really love the clean lines of the stamp packaging and those little strips of color, so I wanted to use those in one of my projects this month. I tend to be drawn to subdued colors and I love anything with a grid pattern, so those were really calling to me. The first thing I did was to stamp some of the journaling boxes out and decide what I was going to stamp/journal.

The TN spread that I made was pretty simple, but I love it! Sometimes I have issues journaling but I find that having little “homes” for the journaling makes it a bit easier for me. I can see myself getting so much use out of this stamp set, if I could I would eat tacos every single day. Seriously!
