Pocket Life with Marie-Pierre

Hi everyone!

Marie here and today I would like to walk you through my process of putting a Project Life page together.

At the beginning of the month, I always use an empty calendar that I print on white cardstock and I fill it in with the important stuff of the month. This month I decided to highlight the days where something happened by coloring them with some pink ink. I also added some splatters. The "June", written in French, is a cut file I designed and cut out of black paper.

When I work on my PL album, I try to gather my photos, stories and ephemeras in small groups of  2 or 3 pockets. Here, for example, I was working on a cake for my upcoming daughter's birthday. I used a 4x6 photo, a 2.5x2.5 photo that I printed to look like a polaroid and a 3x4 card for some journaling. I embellished slightly.

Sometimes, when the story is small, I can fit everything on a 3x4 card, like here, for the contest I won at Crate Paper, I simply printed the text that was on the website as part of the photo and added a small word sticker.

The next 3 pockets are for the swim meet. One 3x4 photo, one 4x6 and a 4x6 card full of text with little embellishments. I love to use stitching to add cute details to my cards and photos.

To add journaling, sometimes I have enough of a small label and some letter stickers.

The small stamps coming with the kits are really fun to mix with our own hand writing!!

And the word stickers, labels and cards containing words are very useful too to add little details.

On this card I simply added ink splatters.

There you go! I hope I could inspire you some. :)

In my Studio with Mira

Hi there!
It's Mira here and today I invite You for a little tour into the place where I create. I was planning to write this post for a veeeery long time, but it was Citrus Twist Kits that actually motivated me to do it! I hope You will enjoy visiting this part of my everyday world.

First of all - it's hard to call it Studio, but ok - let it be my studio for a while!
To be more honest - it's more like a part of the small room in our apartment :)
Look:

My scrapbooking world is a small part of our daughter's room and it will stay this way as long as we prefer Ola to sleep in our bedroom.
So here it is - wide desk and a few drawers :)
I am really happy to have that space well organised. I often check what things I no longer like/need and donate it to the relatives (mostly kids :D) - I don't want to be overwhelmed by too many stuff, cause then I end up not knowing what I have and what I want to use. That's also why I loooove working with kits - it just help me to keep my mind clear! (One of the things hanging near my desk is a little quote that I found on Piterest - tidy desk - tidy mind - this is so true to me!)

Now  let me show You more details!
Left side of the desk is my sewing corner:
Right side is the actual place where I scrap and work on the computer:
Most of my space is dedicated to Pocket Scrapbooking :)

Here's for example how I store PL cards (ordered by colors) and some of my favourite stamps and washi tapes:
In those mini paper bags I keep color pencils, paper cips, scraps of papers and my very recent purchase - BH fuse tool:

My desk has two gorgeously huge drawers, that I just admire! They let me have tidy desk with a really quick access to everything that I need!
I keep it all in small containers: pictures, paper cuts, stickers - things like that!

Right drawer is perfect to hide the computer when I work with papers:
And here's how I store the monthly kits:
On the right side I also keep my Silhouette Portraits and I have a few more drawers here - filled with stamps and inks, chipboard cuts, hard drives, envelopes, etc. I keep the rest of my supplies in the Ikea Raskog basket - twines, threads, badges, paper clips, embellishments:
Accrylic spray paints, basic tools, buttons, wood chips, ribbons, sequins, glitter, etc:
And on the left side of "my creative wall" there is a bookstand full of boxes that are filled with wool and mini albums:
This is it!
As I said - it's not a scrapbooking Studio AT ALL... but it really really is my Favourite spot in the house.

I could finish here - at this exact moment...
or I could also open the rest of my drawers to photograph them for You... (and You would probably yawn)
But I won't do any of it!

I would share a little bit of my desk surroundings instead! Why? Cause I need to prove that this is our daughter's room - kid's room, right?

Here You go - Toys (that inspire me a lot actually):
gorgeous Graphics hanging on the wall:
My hand-made decorations:
And even more decorations:

Ok,
now I can finally finish this tour...

But before that - one more thing for You to get the whole picture:
here's the view from the window that I am constantly looking at:
Yep! This is it - now You know everything...You can drop by and scrap with me :)

If You woud like to visit more creative spaces - check what the rest of CTK team presented on the blog so far! Believe me - it's really inspiring material!

I hope that You enjoyed this post!
Have a lovely day!

Sunday Sketch With Sandy

Hi everyone! Are you ready for another Sunday Sketch challenge? This week Kasia has a sketch for us which calls for a large photo. Play along and be eligible to win a $5 gift certificate to use at the CTK Store, upload your project to the CTK Gallery by July 12th and please include the date of today's sketch in the title of your project!

July Sketch

My approach with this 6"x8" layout is to call out the three main colours of the threads in the photograph. So I picked a red stripey background paper from the Life Noted Add On Kit, a blue label sticker from the Sprinkles Kit, a wood button from the Main Kit and cut out soom green Shimelle paper journal phrases from the Pattern Paper #2 Kit.

It's great that there are three alphas in this month's Main Kit. My favourite is the confetti sprinkled letters from the Webster's #Happy Sticker Sheet. They are predominantly white but can easily be coloured to suit any layout. Here I tinted them with Versa Turquoise Ink which isn't opaque so it allows the confetti pattern to show through. Then I layered the inked letters over white ones for a shadowed effect.

Hope you'll be inspired by this week's sketch to play along with us.

Friday Pocket Life Sketch

Good Morning!

I have some new Pocket Pages to share with you this morning that I made with the July main kit, Good Times Pocket Life kit.

Here's what I came up with!

And here are some detail shots!

Now, here are the sketches based off of these pocket pages I created. I love using large pictures in my album, yet I always forget to include them! This time, I made it a point to incorporate two large pictures in these spreads.

Make sure you share your pocket pages with us in the Citrus Twist Gallery or onto our Facebook page!

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look!

July Guest Designer

Happy first day of July everyone! Today we would like to the take the time to introduce you to our July Guest Designer! Say hello to Missy Whidden!

Untitled

Hi, everyone! I'm Missy Whidden and I live in sunny Florida, USA with my husband and two sweet daughters. I am a stay-at-home mom and a fitness instructor at our local gym. I have been scrapbooking for over eight years now, and I still love it as much as I ever have. I have had the honor of being a part of many awesome design teams over the years. I would describe my style as "organized chaos."  I love patterned papers and layering and being nice and neat, but I also love getting messy with gesso, watercolors, gelatos, and other mixed media. When I'm not scrapping, I love volunteering at my daughter's school, reading, and working out. I'm thrilled to be guest designing here this month! Thanks for having me!

Missy has provided us with some photos of her scrapspace, but before we get to those, this is what she has to say about her crafty place:

I am very fortunate to have a "scrap cave" at home. We live in a very old house and I use the formal dining room as my scrap area. We are far from formal dinners, so it's perfect. I have two large windows, so I get nice natural light during the day. I have just recently started making process videos and my husband helped me set up a camera arm on my desk. Now I just need more shelving for all of my goodies!

Time now for a little Q & A with Missy:

How long have you been scrapbooking and why did you start?

I have been scrapbooking for about nine years now. I began right before our first daughter was born. My mother-in-law asked me to help her make a scrapbook of my husband's baby pictures and I was instantly hooked. I think I fell in love with the artsy aspect of it before the preserving memories part. I have always loved art and I had many sticker books as a child.

How would you describe your scrapbooking style?

This took me a while to actually define, but I think I'd describe my style as "organized chaos." I love getting messy with paints, sprays, gelatos, watercolors...but I love making sure every little detail is in its place. I love layering patterned papers just so, but I love the look of messy tangled thread. I love machine stitching, anything gold, and using die cuts created on my Silhouette Cameo.

What scrapbookers have influenced you the most?

My first scrappy crush was on Jana Eubank. I discovered her blog years ago and just loved her style. I've  been influenced and inspired over the years by Audrey Yeager, Wilna Furstenberg, Ashley Horton, Paige Evans....gosh, the list goes on. Over the past year I've been inspired by a ton of awesome YouTubers like Irit Landgraf and Jennifer McGuire.

What is your favorite thing about kit clubs?

I just love kit clubs! I love the mix of products...you get items from different manufacturers that you mix and match. A lot of times you receive products you might not buy on your own and you're able to see how using something out of your comfort zone quickly becomes something you love. I also love that you get exclusive items you won't find anywhere else!

What are your five favorite scrapbooking items?

Wood veneer, patterned paper, die cuts, watercolors/gelatos, and enamel dots

How would you describe the Citrus Twist July Kit and what do you love the most about it?

I love this kit! The colors of the papers allow you to create a lot of different looks. There are a lot of neutrals and brights. The navy Thickers are very versatile. I really love the exclusive stamps and the fun arrow clips. Overall, it's a fun mix of products, colors, and patterns that can work with any type of photos.

Now let's take a look at Missy's first beautiful project using the July Kit:
