The April Grace Box was filled with lots of
goodies to Bible Journal with. One of my favorite products to work with is
paper pieces because there are so many variations of layouts you can create
with them. Today I’m sharing five different pages of layouts I created
using the April Grace box.
For the first layout I wanted to use this “hey girl hey” ephemera (isn’t it the
cutest?) in combination with the new clear alpha’s from Illustrated Faith
for the Hebrews 10:24 verse. “And let us consider how to stir up one another to
love and good works....” this verse is reminding us that if we want to be
able to finish this race we need one another to succeed. We need to encourage
others and be encouraged to complete the task God has given us. God knew we
would stumble and want to give up so he gave us one another to help us stand
strong. So gather with your girlfriends and start stirring!
For most of these layouts I just layered paper
pieces on top of each other and then added some washi and some paint splatter
to the top. I left room on most of my margins for journaling space to document
what I’m learning from the verses.
For this next layout I went with hexagon shapes
and just built them down the margin. The clear alphas are the perfect size to
add titles and key words right in the middle of the text because you can see
through them and they are narrow enough to fit a lot of words in. I love them!
At the top of this layout it says, “Our lives should be in harmony with the
Gospel we claim to bear.” An easy way to add to any of your grace box
kits is to type up a quote, or something your pastor said at church, or a
blurb from a devotional your reading on your computer and print it out on clear
sticker paper. If your handwriting isn’t your favorite it’s an easy way to add
lettering to your pages. 😉
And for my last layout I used the rub ons. I am
really enjoying the rub ons from American Crafts! I traveled by plane to Texas
for Spring Break and wanted to bring my Bible but didn’t want to bring all the
paints with me. So I grabbed the rub ons and these new Block Alpha stamps and
created this page from the seat of the airplane. I love that you can achieve a
painted look without any of the mess. And how gorgeous is the gold foil rub
ons? Those gold fireflies are adorable!

Hi there this is Rachel Lindas. I had so much fun designing this page in my Bible. I knew the moment I saw the adorable light bulb stamp in the April kit that I would want to use it. After studying the Bible Verses John 1:5-9 the words light and shine stood out. See God sent a man named John the Baptist to tell about the "light" to tell about Jesus. His job was to tell others about the one true light who gives light to everyone. And you guys now it's our job to shine the light and tell everyone about the good Word of the gospel. Most of us have heard to shine bright for Jesus but how many of us forget to do it in our daily routines? Are we careful with our tongue and our responses to our spouses, kids, and strangers. Do we get frustrated easily? Are we so stuck in our ways we can't love others well? Shining the light seems so simple but in reality it takes somehow who is so filled up with the Holy Spirit to actually do it.
I used two of the journaling cards for this page to make a mini book. I took the card that had the question "What is one small thing you can do each day to walk in God's Light?" And taped in it the top part of my page. I then cut down the light bulb card to fit over a part of the first card and taped it just to the top so I could flip it back and forth to reveal the question. This way I can answer the question and have it covered up the cute light bulbs as well.
I then took the light bulb stamp and made a pattern starting from the bottom of the margin and worked my way up the margin to the journaling cards. I wanted some of my light bulbs to look like they were coming off the page. I used different shades of yellow prima inks to create depth with my stamps. And then saved one light bulb in the center to be in black ink so it stood out.
I finished my page by highlighting my verse and boxing it around with my journaling pen.
Enjoy playing around with the stamp to create the look you want. Creating patterns with a single stamp is an easy way to use stamps and I think they look adorable.
Hi it's me, Rachel Lindas and I'm excited to share a Tuesday Tutorial with you. I decided to go a bit out of my normal and get messy with some new product. I wanted to play around with the new Tim Holtz's Distressed Oxides. I was so excited to use them because of their ability to have bold bright colors that don't bleed together if you don't want them to. However when playing with them I found out they do bleed through your Bible pages which makes me so sad because the looks you can achieve with them are endless. I didn't give up so easily. As you will see in the video I used the journaling card that comes in the April kit as inspiration and made my own tip in. This way I could use the product I wanted to achieve the look I was going for without fear of ruining my pages. You'll notice for my design I used the journaling card (I tab punched the shine Word and cut out the word "world" from it), light bulb stamp, and one of the paper pieces for the Simple Stories Faith line that all came in the April kit. I added the home spun alphas from Illustrated Faith and punched out a star from white card stock to finish my look.
Take note: When using the distressed Oxides one of their neat features is that you can blend the colors together when you activate them with water. Once that layer of color is dry you can add more color to the top even wet without it mixing in with the base layer. This is a very unique feature of these oxides and make the yellow color on my tip in pop on top of the blues instead of blend in. They can also be used as stamp pads. I used the same yellow color for my light bulb stamp to layer on top of the blue colors. I love how it turned out with bright bold colors.

Hi my name is Rachel Lindas and I am thrilled to be a guest
designer for Citrus Twist Kits for themonth of April.I am a mom trying
to raise three spiritual warriors, a wife to a man who leads me and is my
favorite team mate, and a journaler who delights in God’s Word.
Let’s start by me trying to answer these questions in attempt to
share a little about myself with you.
1.How long have you been Bible Journaling and
why did you start? I have been Creating in the Word of God
for about two years now.Its been a game
changer for the way I am able to process the Word of God.Most of us are visual learners so this
provides the perfect way to study God’s Word, in combination with beautiful and
meaningful images to help you remember it.I have had a love of paper crafting since I was little and started my
very own scrapbooks when I was in high school.So this creating world was never new to me, but as life continued and I
became a mom of three my time, like most of us, became even more precious.The pressure
and guilt to spend time on my photo albums grew and I was being drawn into
spending more time in God’s Word and studying the Bible as I had a desire to
raise three spiritual warriors.But I
missed creating and ,if I am honest, I think we are all made to create in some
way; so when I was introduced to this idea of Bible journaling I knew it was
the perfect match for me.God’s Word and
creating all in one. Oh yes!Insert my
Happy Dance.The rest is history.I have just started my 3rd Journaling Bible
and have now taught a year worth of Bible Journaling classes at the local
scrapbook store, and at local churches.The enthusiasm and a ha moments are continuing to grow in my community
and that makes me so excited. 2.How
would you describe your style?
Creative
and Messy.Ok but seriously I would
describe my style by sayingI view
illustrating your faith by first and foremost the verse you are about to
illustrate.I wanted Bible Journaling to
not be another art project for me but a place and that I could deepen my
understanding of God’s Word andthough
the process of allowing God to speak to me illustrate what I have learned or
what I need to focus on.The images that
God gives me after studying a verse is what deepens my knowledge and
strengthens my relationship with Christ.After studying the verse that has been placed on my heart I then get
messy.I don't need my pages to be
perfect and in most designs I include a tie dye splatter paint look on
them.I'm not a great “artist” so you
won't find beautiful drawings on my pages.I tend to lean towards bright colors on my pages and using
embellishments that illustrate the image I want to remember.
3.What Bible journalers have influenced me
most?
Well
I have to start with Shanna Noel from Illustrated Faith.Finding her early posts about her journey and
her Bible pages gave me the inspiration to explore God’s Word in this way.She continues to inspire this community and
cheer everyone on around her.I love her
passion and heart for God’s Word and her sweet transparency that she shares
with this community.I also love her
style.I probably connect most with
Morgan Massey’s style of Bible Journaling.I love the beauty of so many people's illustrations in their Bible but
Morgan’s style speaks to me personally.The way she includes her own handwriting on the pages, has a fun messy
ink splatter look to each page, doodles fun arrows all over her pages, and just
has a gorgeous but messy look to her style and I love every page she
designs.Lately I have fallen in love
with Bekah Blankenship’s flowers.I
haven't had the courage to try flowers on my pages before finding her creations
but its quickly becoming a favorite to include on my pages.They are simple, follow my messy line looks
and make the pages pop with color and beauty.
4.What is your favorite thing about kit
clubs?
That’s
an easy one for me.. the unknown.. the surprise… the fact that you will get
some product in the mail that you might not have picked up on your own but are
so glad you got the chance to try it.Since I develop monthly Bible journaling classes for others I am pretty
good about knowing what is out there and the different options available but
even I, a shopping expert, is nicely surprised with something different to try in
the monthly kits and that makes it fun and keeps it fresh month after
month.And for those who tend to only
use one brand of product this helps you try a new line. I am always impressed
how well different brands can tie in together to make beautiful pages.
5.What are your 5 favorite Bible journaling
items you can’t do without?
Illustrated Faith journaling pen; alpha stickers (all kinds), but love the Home spun brand from Bella Blvd; Tim Holtz’s Distress Paint Dabbers (all the beautiful bold colors); Items I use with above paint, Aqua Paint Brush, mini mister, and a plastic bag; and Wordfetti from Bella Blvd. (I adore hunting for the right words to stick on my
pages.)
6.How would you describe the Citrus Twist April
Grace Box kit and why will people love it?
Adorable cute irresistible birds.....I love how this kit includes different brands but they all work together so nicely. I personally have fallen in love with the Simple Stories new faith line and I have had the opportunity to work with that product for the past couple of months as a guest designer and in the pack of the paper pieces there are so many great embellishments to get you inspired. For the newbie out there saying I want to get started but I don't know how this Grace kit is the perfect place to start. Lots of goodies stuffed in the kit have Bible Verses marked right on the design making the "where do I start" part very easy. And for those like me who have been Bible journaling for years, the CTK stamps had me giddy the moment I pulled them out. I definitely encourage anyone who has a love for creating to give the kit a try. What I was most thrilled about was the quality and newness of the product in the kit. April's kit had the very latest and greatest. I promise you, you won' t be disappointed.
As stated earlier, our guest this month is handing out the first challenge of the month, so let's see what she has for this week's 3 to Inspire Challenge! Here are this week's prompts:
1. Layer your embellishments to add depth and interest. Try adding a variety of type and size of
stickers on top of each other.
2. Try getting messy by using Distressed Paints with a plastics bag to create a tie dye look for your
pop of color.
3. Use your stamps to create patterns on your paper pieces.

I am so excited about my first post
on the Citrus Twist Kits blog! This month’s kit was packed with so many fun
goodies that I have had so much fun creating with.
This page is focused
on Psalm 125:1-2
Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion,which cannot be moved, but abides
forever.
As the mountains surround Jerusalem
so the Lord surrounds his people
from this time forth and forevermore.
This verse has meant so much to me
in this season. I love that it is a promise and reminder that God stands with His
people at all times.
I started off by spreading a thick
coat of white paint down on the page so that the alphabet stickers would pop
once they were on the page.
Once the paint was dry I pulled out
the October Afternoon stickers from this month kit and began to arrange them on
the page. I choose to spell out “King of my Heart” for this page after I had
listened to “King of my Heart” by Caves. My favorite part of the song is when they
sing, “Let the King of my Heart be the mountain where I run, the fountain I
drink from. Oh He is my song.” When I look at this page I want to be reminded
that, while God is always standing by my side, I am also striving to be close
to Him.
Next, I pulled out the fun die cut
pack that was included in this month’s kit. I loved the pink circle that says
“THIS” as my tab. And let’s not forget about the super fun, Illustrated Faith
washi stickers that come with the December kit. Since I journaled a song I used
the music note washi stickers at thetop and bottom of my page. The XOXO tape is also a part of the kit,
which I thought went perfectly with the music notes.
To finish off my page I splashed
some watercolors across the page as messily as I could. I had a blast
worshipping as I worked through this verse and I’m so glad I could share it
with you guys.
