Here is my take on the prompts

I created this page with the October main kit and loved the pretty mix of bright patterns, florals, stickers and those tickets! They are so great to layer and make a perfect border for your design

my mixed title was created with the main kit word stamp, which I stamped onto a cut out journal tab, adding a heart sticker and finishing with these bright alpha stickers

Two Colorful Cards with the October Scrapbook Kit

Hi! And welcome to my third guest post this October here on the Citrus Twist Blog. I, Sandra, want to share two colorful cards with you today. I used the beautiful Paper 2 and the ephemera pack from Turn the Page that come with your October Scrapbook Kit. Almost everything on the cards can be found in the kit. I only used a stamp from my stash to stamp the title 'happy birthday', some sequins and confetti for the shaker windows.

Let's take a look at the first card. It's a friendly birthday card that has a fun shaker frame on it. I used one of the frames from the ephemera kit. I glued transparency foil to the back of the frame.

Then I added some sequins and a coffee cup. In a last step, I glued a second sheet of transparency foil to seal the shaker frame and used foam pads to attach the frame to the card. 

To decorate the frame, I added a flower ephemera and the stamped title 'happy birthday'.

It's fun to shake the card and to see how the sequins and the cup move around in the frame.

Now let's move on to the second card. 

Just as for the first card, I made a shaker frame with sequins, some confetti and a heart sticker from the sticker pack that comes with the kit. Then I added a second frame, the beautiful butterfly ephemera and a star for decoration.

I haven't used a lot of embellishments for the card, however, I like how it turned out.

I hope you like my shaker card inspiration. Last but not least, I would like to thank Citrus Twist Kits for having me as a guest this October. It was fun to create with the Scrapbook Kit and I had fun contributing three different projects to the blog.

SUNDAY SCKETCH | LAETITIA + KIRA NESS

Hi everyone, it's Laetitia. I'm so excited to share with you my first post for Citrus Twist! I loved the October kit with which I realized 4 12'x12' layouts.

Today I introduce you the sunday sketch. A challenge that I like so much! I enjoyed using this model :D

Before I started my page, I selected a photo and polaroid frame from the scrapbooking kit of the month to stay in the main formatting. Then I added a few scraps of paper and a placemat.

I then added some die-cut to embellish.

I then realized the bottom of the page drawing as much as possible from the sketch. And to finish, I have added stickers sentences from an old collection  to replace the journaling part and some chinese ink tasks.

I made this page to offer to my NSP Celina_scrap. I hope she likes it. Anyway I'm having fun! And you, already inspired?

Wow!  Laetitia's layout is stunning right?!  Kira here with a layout using the sketch as well.  I am so grateful to be sharing center stage with one of my favorite scrapbookers.  And I am just in awe of everything Laetitia creates.  

Here's my take on the sketch:

I decided to flip the sketch upside down because I wanted the photos placed on the right bottom corner of my page.  If you didn't already guess, I am documenting a photo of my son's spot on Halloween costume from last year.  I thought this side by side comparison of him and Marty McFly was hilarious.

I started by adding a ton of layers to my photos, along with some fun foam for added dimension.  I used some of the exclusive paper, along with some of the 6x6 sheets from the Pocket Life kit.

I built a few clusters around my page with ephemera from the Turn the Page die cuts included in the main kit, the exclusive ephemera from the Pocket Life kit, the exclusive epoxy stickers from the main kit, and some of the washi tape from the Embellishment kit.

For the top cluster I used the same papers I had used to layer behind my photo, along with the same embellishments used in my other clusters.  I finished off my page with some black splatters (I used watered down acrylic paint, which works great and is super inexpensive if you don't like to spend a lot on mixed media products!).  You can watch my entire process here.

3 to Inspire with Kathleen

Hey there! It's Kathleen here again and today I have another 3 to inspire challenge for you. This week I challenge you to

1. use as little patterned paper as possible
2. frame your photo with embellishments and diecuts
3. add some paint splatters

And here is my layout for this challenge:

I used the October Scrapbook Main kit "Good Vibes" (and a small piece of a washi strip from the Embellishment kit). The floral diecuts from the ephemera pack were perfect for this photo.

Because I couldn't decide which ones to use, I thought I should just use them all and put them around my photo (and one floral piece in the lower left corner of the page). Using lots of die cuts or stickers in one place makes it very easy to add some dimension to your layout since you can let them peek out behind another piece or your photo etc. I also use foam dots to add more dimension.

On the bottom of the page I only added a very thin strip of patterned paper to give my layout a border - to me it always feels a bit "incomplete" without one. To finish off my layout, I splattered some of my Heidi Swapp color shine across it. You probably won't find a layout I've made that doesn't have at least some paint splatters on it :D

Tuesday Tutorial with Kathleen | Custom Notebooks as Gifts

Hey there ladies! It's Kathleen (aka Scattered Confetti) here and I'm so happy to be on the Citrus Twist Kits blog today with my first blogpost as member of the Creative Team :)

For this week's Tuesday Tutorial edition I'm bringing you three cute customised notebooks which would be great as little gifts. Because they are so quick and easy to make, they'd also be perfect for a craft session with your kids or at a birthday party for your littles.

For my notebooks I used the October "Good Vibes" Scrapbook Main kit and the October Embellishment kit and here's how I made them:

First I gathered my supplies. You will need some patterned paper, regular white printer paper and some things to embellish your notebooks (like alpha stickers, ephemera and other bits and pieces).

1. Per notebook I used three sheets of printer paper which I cut into six equal parts (about 3.5"x4.25"), that makes 18 pages per notebook. I used my stapler to staple them all together at the top edge. (You could use more pages, but keep in mind not to make it too thick because you will need to still be able to staple them together.)

2. For the cover I cut down a sheet of patterned paper to 4" wide and 9" long.

3. I then scored that piece of patterned paper at 3.75" and 8.25" and adhered the stack of printer paper with a strip of double sided tape to the middle part. To cover the staple needles, I used a small strip of paterned paper and adhered it on top (see second photo in this post).

4. Now the fun part begins: embellishing your notebooks! I used the October Scrapbook Main and Embellishment kit for this. When I was done embellishing them, I also added the initial of the person I made it for on the cover.



Tip: To easily keep the notebooks closed, you can use an envelope notcher on the bottom flap so you can slide the top flap into it (I hope I'm making sense, haha :D ). I don't own such a tool, so I just used my craft knife.

"Home Is..." Fall Traveler's Notebook Spread with Mary

Hi scrappy friends!  Mary here with my very first Traveler's Notebook insert project ever!  I had so much fun using the main kit plus the embellishment kit to create this DIY insert and my introductory spread.  

But before we dive in, can I tell you a little story first?  Have you ever felt the prompting in your gut to just do something and not have any rational reasons as to why?  Well....I felt this tug over summer to start documenting places and scenery of where we currently live.  I had no clue at the time as to why I felt that pull but now that reason has definitely been revealed and I'm so glad I acted on that prompting.  

Last weekend we announced to our church (who my husband and I have been ministering to for 7 years) that we are starting the transition to relocate closer to family.  While this is a super sad transition, it is also exciting in many ways since we have not lived closer than 3.5 hours away from immediate family and with my husband's partial knee disability we really need to be closer to family.  

To be honest my husband and I have never felt that this place is OUR home but it absolutely is our children's home...they have never known anything different.  So I want to be able to document their first home in detail, from the beauty that's here, to the places we love to go, to our routine places like grocery stores.  I never want them to forget the place that was their foundation. 

We know we will be here for at least two more seasons so my goal is to document as much as I can of our town during each season.  I have a feeling this project will bless me in the process as well.  

So are you ready to take a peak?

If you watch the process video you'll see I start out in a completely different direction than what I end up with.  After working some kinks out I decided I needed to create this cute pocket because I knew I would have a bunch to say in the introduction.  I just stitched a piece of cardstock that was about the size of a 3x4 journaling card which I cut down from the Citrus Twist exclusive paper included in the main kit.  Here's a closer look for ya:

 

I cut apart this "Inhale the future, exhale the past" ephemera piece from Paige Evans' latest collection "Turn the Page" (which, by the way, was designed based on her own personal relocation process of embracing the change...or it could be that she knew I would need her wisdom in my own transition to come) and layered up some flowers and a frame behind it.   Don't be afraid to alter your ephemera bits!  This allowed me to make a tag for the journaling card and have an extra piece for another project.  Fist bumps for making three embellishments out of one!   

At the top of the spread I added some fussy cut banners from the Maggie Holmes "Carousel" line as a base for my cluster at the top.  The words on the washi tape that comes in the "Turn the Page" washi book are absolutely perfect for our transition time.  

I added this picture I took of the canal that I drive over every day on my way home.  I want to remember the beauty of our valley in the fall when the blue of the sky meets the brown of the desert hills.  The reflection in the canal that will soon be dried up is just breath taking.  

I kept with the washi tape theme on both sides of the spread to really tie it all together.  And, of course, gold Heidi Swapp Color Shine...#goldallthethings #amiright

Sunday Sketch with Veera and Kelly

It's Sunday and time for another Sunday Sketch challenge! This week's sketch is so fun with all the white space it has.

Here's Veera's take on the sketch: "I flipped the sketch  over and instead of two pictures I used one 4x6 photo. The exclusive pattern paper from October's main kit was perfect for this sketch as it had patterns there supporting the sketch like the subtle paint splatters on the top right corner."
