3 to Inspire | Gina

Happy Saturday everyone and welcome to another fun challenge! Just play along with the 3 prompts for a chance to win

Here are your prompts!

1. use a stamp for part of your title
2. incorporate 3 love hearts
3. add a floral element

Here is my take on the prompts

I created this page with the October main kit and loved the pretty mix of bright patterns, florals, stickers and those tickets! They are so great to layer and make a perfect border for your design

my mixed title was created with the main kit word stamp, which I stamped onto a cut out journal tab, adding a heart sticker and finishing with these bright alpha stickers

I hope you will also play along with this one, I can't wait to see what you create!
Don't forget to upload your entry to the CTK gallery and/or Facebook Fan Page by Saturday November 4th for your chance to win.

Happy Saturday,
Gina x

3 to Inspire with Kathleen

3 to Inspire with Kathleen | Citrus Twist Kits
Hey there! It's Kathleen here again and today I have another 3 to inspire challenge for you. This week I challenge you to
  1. use as little patterned paper as possible
  2. frame your photo with embellishments and diecuts
  3. add some paint splatters
And here is my layout for this challenge:

3 to Inspire with Kathleen "Everyday Moments" Layout | Citrus Twist Kits

I used the October Scrapbook Main kit "Good Vibes" (and a small piece of a washi strip from the Embellishment kit). The floral diecuts from the ephemera pack were perfect for this photo.

Because I couldn't decide which ones to use, I thought I should just use them all and put them around my photo (and one floral piece in the lower left corner of the page). Using lots of die cuts or stickers in one place makes it very easy to add some dimension to your layout since you can let them peek out behind another piece or your photo etc. I also use foam dots to add more dimension.

3 to Inspire with Kathleen "Everyday Moments" Layout | Citrus Twist Kits

On the bottom of the page I only added a very thin strip of patterned paper to give my layout a border - to me it always feels a bit "incomplete" without one. To finish off my layout, I splattered some of my Heidi Swapp color shine across it. You probably won't find a layout I've made that doesn't have at least some paint splatters on it :D

Alright, that's it for today. I hope you like my layout and the prompts and give it a go! I would love to see your creations! You can share them with us here in the gallery and/or our Facebook Forum.

Grace Box with Ashley

Hi everyone! My name is Ashley aka @magmagandme. I am so excited to start this journey with Citrus Twist and hopefully inspire you all!  This is my first project with the October Grace Box.

I'm journaling in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.
This kit is full of pinks, teals, and warm browns. PERFECT for fall. The first thing I pulled out was the STAMP! eek! All things thankful. #grateful.
The Oct Grace Box is sold out but you can still buy the stamp HERE.

I used the tha nk ful stamp and couldn't stop!
I used gel pens & watercolors to color in the dainty outlines of the stamp. Then let the fun begin with ALL the die cuts, stickers, and fall goodies! It's all about the layers - don't be afraid to use too many.
I also added some paint splatter flicks to add some filler color around the edges.
I added some sequins (that didn't come in the kit) because I needed a small pop.
A bold circle in marker to anchor the verse on the page.
Added a bit of white sewing thread (also not in the kit) to add some texture.
So many goodies in one box, have you ordered yours?!

Happy Creating,
Ashley

Magical Fall Moments - October Main & Patterned Paper Play Kits - Nathalie

Hello Everyone!  Nathalie with you today, and I am so excited and grateful to share my first blog post as part of the 2018 CTK Design Team.

What can I say about this month's Good Vibes Kit, besides that it is gorgeous, colorful and so versatile.  But if you are a patterned paper lover (as I am), then the Patterned Paper Play kit is what you need!.   Once I saw the color combo on these papers,  I knew that i could bring an Autumn page with a twist easily together.

It is not the traditional colors of an Autumn wreath, but it works perfect for the season.   I had a few white cardstock  leaves cut outs left over from previous projects, so I decided to use a simple Fall leaves cut file from the Silhouette Store, to cut  the leaves from papers in the Patterned Paper Play kit, as well as the main kit.  In addition, i use the same cut file to cut the same number of leaves from white vellum.

small clusters of embellishments along the wreath

A bit of ink blending on the vellum leaves brings the colors of fall in a softer way to this page.  Once The wreath form was set, then a few machine stitches held it together.

To bring in the golden hues from the season, the chipboard alphas were colored using some antique gold acrylic paint.  Just love the color combination! -which may also work for all our friends enjoying Spring in the Southern Hemisphere.
If you would like to see how this page came together, just enjoy the following video (just excuse the lighting -there was a bit of renovation going on at the time of filming-):

I hope this serves as inspiration to use all the colors in these kits to put a modern twist on a classic.  Remember to check the Citrus Twist Shop for these kits (October kits have sold out, but you can start subscribing starting November).  I am a comment away if you have any questions on how this came together.

Take care!!!

Tuesday Tutorial with Kathleen | Custom Notebooks as Gifts

Hey there ladies! It's Kathleen (aka Scattered Confetti) here and I'm so happy to be on the Citrus Twist Kits blog today with my first blogpost as member of the Creative Team :)

Tuesday Tutorial with Kathleen | Custom Notebooks as Gifts
Tuesday Tutorial with Kathleen | Custom Notebooks as Gifts

For this week's Tuesday Tutorial edition I'm bringing you three cute customised notebooks which would be great as little gifts. Because they are so quick and easy to make, they'd also be perfect for a craft session with your kids or at a birthday party for your littles.

For my notebooks I used the October "Good Vibes" Scrapbook Main kit and the October Embellishment kit and here's how I made them:

Tuesday Tutorial with Kathleen | Custom Notebooks as Gifts

First I gathered my supplies. You will need some patterned paper, regular white printer paper and some things to embellish your notebooks (like alpha stickers, ephemera and other bits and pieces).

1. Per notebook I used three sheets of printer paper which I cut into six equal parts (about 3.5"x4.25"), that makes 18 pages per notebook. I used my stapler to staple them all together at the top edge. (You could use more pages, but keep in mind not to make it too thick because you will need to still be able to staple them together.)

2. For the cover I cut down a sheet of patterned paper to 4" wide and 9" long.

3. I then scored that piece of patterned paper at 3.75" and 8.25" and adhered the stack of printer paper with a strip of double sided tape to the middle part. To cover the staple needles, I used a small strip of paterned paper and adhered it on top (see second photo in this post).

4. Now the fun part begins: embellishing your notebooks! I used the October Scrapbook Main and Embellishment kit for this. When I was done embellishing them, I also added the initial of the person I made it for on the cover.

Tip: To easily keep the notebooks closed, you can use an envelope notcher on the bottom flap so you can slide the top flap into it (I hope I'm making sense, haha :D ). I don't own such a tool, so I just used my craft knife.

And here's a closer look at the other notebooks I made:

I really hope you enjoyed this cute and simple tutorial and maybe give it a try! Thanks for stopping by!

3-To-Inspire with Anna and Emma

Hi friends!  It's Anna and Emma on the blog with today's 3-To-Inspire challenge!

We share this challenge every Saturday for those of you that are looking for a little extra push to get scrapbooking, to keep scrapbooking, or those just looking for a challenge (and the chance to win a little something is an added bonus!).

I hope you'll join us this week using the following prompts:

1. Use 4 (or more) die-cuts
2. Use patterned paper for your background (i.e. no white cardstock, ahh)
3. Use your stamps

First up let's look at Anna's page!

I'm so happy to join Emma on her lovely 3 to Inspire challenge. I love this sort of challenges a well as sketch challenges.

The "use patterned paper as your backgroud" prompt is a bit scary but it's fun and inspiring to push yourself out of your comfort zone sometimes, lol!

I went for a grid design and a pretty clean and simple page this time.  Just a few splatters of ink this time.

This kit is really so lovely to play with! It kind of scrap itself, lol.   Can't wait to see your take on this fun challenge!

And here is Emma's page using the same 3 prompts:

In most cases for the 3-To-Inspire challenges we will create a page then set the challenges around it, but this time Anna and I set our 3 ingredients first and then created our pages.  I have to confess the first one stressed me out - pattern paper background?!  Ahh!  I'm one of those people that uses white cardstock almost always but fortunately in this instance the main kit includes a gorgeous ledger pattern paper (CTK exclusive paper) - WIN!  Funnily enough, both Anna and I used the same paper  for our challenge ;).

I LOVE die-cuts so having to include 4 (or more) was a easy one and I actually built my page around those die-cuts.  I'd selected the "magical" and "moments" pieces first (for my title) and then layered additional die-cuts around them.  Before starting my page I'd picked out a couple photo's (a square and landscape format) but settled on using the square photo because the title die-cuts seem to fit better.  Anyone else create pages and then settle on a photo? I'll often start a page with one photo in mind but change it to something else later ;)

The stamping was another fun challenge although stamping doesn't come naturally to me, I often have to remind myself to use them (I used to be so intimidated by them...crazy hey?!) but I love how they're a super easy way to add more sentiments to your page.

To add a bit of dimension on my page I added foam dots underneath a few of my die-cut pieces and the photo.  I typed my journaling up on the computer again (using a typewriter font) and then just machine stitched it in place at the bottom left of my page.  The butterfly die-cut sitting at the bottom right was a last minute addition as I felt the bottom of the page needed a bit of balance (even out the gold flower at the top left of my photo) :)

Now it's your turn! Use the three prompts to create your own project/s and share them with us here in the gallery and/or our Facebook Forum.  We both look forward to seeing your project!

Thanks, Anna & Em xo

Sunday Sketch | Gina + Leigh

Hi everyone, Gina and Leigh here today, sharing our projects with you based on this fun sketch!

We hope you can play along as well this week, we'd love to see your take on this sketch. To enter the challenge, post your project in the CTK gallery and/or Facebook Group page with today's date (Oct 8) in the title

First up is my take.. this layout was created with the beautiful Good Vibes main kit.  I've followed the sketch pretty closely apart from at the base of the layout.  I've also added in a couple of journal tabs and stamped on them.

I've used a foam pop dot under the star die-cut for added dimension

I'm absolutely loving the "perfect" stamp in the main kit stamp set,  it's going to be a go-to fave for sure!

Thanks for visiting and Happy Sunday all!
Gina x

I'll hand you over to Leigh Ann to share her lovely project..

My "Sweet Things Season" layout is pretty close to the sketch. I added strips of the colorful patterned paper to the top and bottom of the layout and kept the embellishment areas like the sketch.

I used most of the frames from the Pink Paislee Turn the Page die cut pack to form an interlocking frame backdrop for the photo. Frames were added to the other two embellishment clusters to unite the page. I had fun stamping the kit stamp sentiments in bright colors that coordinate with the page

I stitched through the kit alpha, and love the different colours included in the pack

Close up view of the groupings on this page. Staples and stickers and labels from the kit create some interest.
Thanks to Gina for letting me join in this Sunday Sketch today:)
