SUNDAY SKETCH WITH KATARINA

Hey CTK friends!

It's Katarina with you today, this time again with the Sunday Sketch challenge. This week's sketch is just perfect if you want to use up a lot of those super pretty papers and embellishments, or you can modify it a bit and even make a multi-photo layout.

I went for the first option because there is so much gorgeousness in the new GATHER mini kit! I created a single page layout in my Clementine 6x8 Life Crafted album about a quiet morning moment with coffee and a good book.

To make all the elements of my page stand out I wanted to use a neutral background, but since I am also so in love with the GATHER digital papers, I used one of them as a border around the white cardstock. 

The center of my layout is a big square photo of my coffee cup and a book. I layered some of the Gather Digital Journal Cards, Digital Elements and Ephemera behind the photo and added a couple of Cork Tiny Word Stickers.

I cut little squares from multiple Digital Journal Cards to create little places for more embellishments and placed them in the top part of my layout. I layered them with the Die Cut Ephemera, puffy stickers and digital elements.

For the bottom part of the page I used two rectangular digital elements - one for my journaling and the other one to add even some more pretty details.

I finished off my layout with Jewel Enamel Dots and machine stitching.

SUNDAY SKETCH WITH KATARINA

Katarina here with you again, today with this week’s Sunday Sketch challenge. I really loved the sketch I worked with, I believe it will be inspiring for you too. Let’s have a look.

This week’s sketch:

 And here’s my project inspired by it:

When I saw the sketch for the first time I immediately knew I was going to create an interactive project. I turned the sketch by 90 degrees and decided to create a layout in my 6x8 Life Crafted album where I started documenting our December stories. I used the super pretty Jingle All The Way kit and digitals as well as some other products from the shop.

I loved the circular elements on the sketch and created a flip page using the beautiful patterned papers from the kit. I used a plate to draw a semi-circular line on my papers. Then I printed two of my photos as circles and matted them with two bigger circles cut from the papers from the kit.

I used a big die cut with presents from the kit ephemera to secure the flip page and added lots of stars that I found in the kit embellishments.

There’s a gorgeous bookmark in the collection’s digital journal cards, I used it behind the flap to add my journaling.

On the right side of my spread I used another beautiful patterned paper and since it was 6 inches wide and I needed 7, I cut it and added a stripe of craft cardstock towards the right side of the page where I knew my photos and title were going to be.

I used both alphabets from the kit to add my title, and the pretty self-adhesive golden lace (also included in the kit) for a pretty detail.

I created a paper bow using two papers from the Crate Paper’sMittens and Mistletoe 6x8 Paper pack from the shop. It was perfect to finish a little Christmas present I fussy cut from one of the digitalpapers.

As a finishing touch I sprinkled a bunch of sequins from the kit's sequin mix and some stickers from the kit around my layout and called it done.

I love how a good sketch can inspire me to create something I would otherwise never come up with. Hope you get inspired too to use your Jingle All the Way Kit and that you find some time to create something beautiful! Thanks for stopping by, friends!

Sunday Sketch with Suzanne

Hello friends!

I hope you are doing well and still enjoying summer. We have vacation until august 30th, so we are full on enjoying the free time.

I have made this layout using the sketch from this week, I had so much fun making this page in my album using the august kit.

I printed the flower design paper and gave the flowers some color to match with the embellishments from the kit.

 

And I have to say that I am in love with the color of the letters this month!

SUNDAY SKETCH with Nathalie

 

Hi there!

Nathalie with you today to bring you some inspiration featuring this week's sketch and a mix of new products from this month's release.  I am sure that you (as many of us) are looking at easy and quick ways to document your memories.  Well, sketches are a great help when it comes to documenting in style in a short amount of time.  They are like a blueprint to your page, the rest is up to you! Let me show you this week's sketch:

And here  is my project, inspired by the sketch:

I chose to use the sketch  for a Life Crafted album layout.    First, I had to decide on the orientation of the sketch so that it work for my album.  This meant, rotating the sketch 90 degrees counterclock wise.

I chose to place my photos and all the paper layers ( Fernwood Add -on kit and December Digital Files) on the left side of the album.  I followed the layering on the sketch to build the layers behind the photos, and replace the cut file mat with ephemera pieces from the Fernwood add on kit,

I decided to switch the background paper of the other side of the layout to one of the Digital papers from the December release ( this was also used as a layer behind the  photos.  I used Photoshop to add my journaling before printing.  

I added the small strips of paper to the right of the layout, just like in the sketch.  I repeated some of the patterned papers -Fernwood Add on kit-  so that it ties the two sides together; then switched the small label for CTK exclusive TAKE IT INSIDE ephemera pieces.

3-to-Inspire with Shannon

Hello there, friends! Shannon here with your 3-to-Inspire for the week. I love this challenge. Picking three things to focus on when I'm creating my layout makes it come together so much easier. It's such a great starting point! Let's get to the list:

1. Use an old photo

2. Use a sketch

3. Use multiple embellishments to make a title

And now let's look at the page I created using these prompts.

1. Use an old photo

I knew that I wanted to use the Travelogue products for this page so I started looking through my photos for one that hadn't been scrapbooked yet. This photo from a few years ago is one of my favorites. It was taken during my long scrapbook hiatus so I knew it wasn't documented anywhere. All that I had to do was pull it into my phone for a quick edit. Sometimes I'm hesitant to document older photos because the quality isn't as good as new photos. I'm really trying to get over that so hopefully this challenge will give you a push to do the same!

2. Use a sketch

I always find that sketches help flip my brain into creative mode. This is helpful when I want to scrapbook but my brain might be feeling a little fried. Or when I want to break out of my box a little. Did you know that there is a new sketch every Sunday on the Citrus Twist blog? You can find them all through the Sunday Sketch tag. I chose a sketch from May 2020 for this layout. I made several changes - there is only one photo, the journaling is in a different place, I made a cluster of stamps, chipboard stickers, and puffy stickers at the top, and my page is in a Life Crafted album. That's what I love about sketches. You can interpret them as literally or as freely as you want.

3. Use multiple embellishments to make a title

This part of the challenge was so fun! I gathered up some Travelogue ephemera and chipboard stickers that had words on them. From there, I decided what I wanted to use for my title. There are so many possible combinations! You could also add in some stamped phrases or words too.

Sunday Sketch with Krystal

 

Hey all! Krystal here with this week's Sunday Sketch. Here's a look at the sketch I chose for today.

I loved all of the layers behind the photo, the label embellishments, and the stitched accents! Here's the page I was able to come up with using the sketch. 

As you can see, I made a few changes. Instead of doing a regular layout, I decided to create a page in my Life Crafted Album. So I flipped the sketch on its side and created a two-page spread.

I used the B-side of the Crate Paper "Flora" paper from the Scrapbooking Add-On Kit as the base for my pages and cut them down to 8.25" x 5" so that they would go directly into my album and not be in a pocket. I added a tiny strip of one of the Traveler's Notebook Basics papers to add a border on both sides, then stitched them down using my sewing machine. 

For the layers behind my photo, I chose a combination of papers from the True Stories Life Crafted Kit and the Add-On Kit. I also added one of the little doilies from the Add-On Kit to give the page some texture and add softness to the layers. I added a little stitching to these layers as well, similar to the stitching shown in the sketch. 

I tucked a couple of the tags and tickets from the True Stories Digital Tags and a label from the kit in around my photo for additional layers and to tie in all of the colors from the rainbow paper. I added a small phrase die cut, as shown in the sketch, then decided to add one of the florals from the Life Crafted Kit ephemera to the top of my layers as an additional embellishment. 

I kept the other side of my spread very simple, as it was in the sketch. I stamped two of the stamps from the True Stories Kit Stamp Set in black ink at the top of the page, doing a second and third generation stamp of each to give the title more visual weight. Then I added my journaling below my title using my typewriter. 

I finished my page by adding another floral from the Life Crafted Kit ephemera and a tiny heart puffy sticker from the Add-On Kit to the bottom of my journaling. This helps tie this page in with the elements on the other side of the spread.
