Sunday Sketch with Nathalie

Hi there!
Nathalie here with this week's sketch challenge, and i am in love with all the layers that it showcases.  Having a sketch always makes a project come together easily in a short amount of time.  So, before i show you what i created using the Life Chapters kit and a few pieces from the add-on kit, let me share the sketch with you all.

I was inspired by the layers and positioning of the elements  to create this page about my youngest sister and her lovely story (trust me she herself is an adventure for us!)

I tried an stayed true to the sketch, but as you can see there are a few minor changes that make it more my style.  Firstly, i switched the location of the label and the small paper strip from the bottom to the top of the page, and added a bit of mixed media to the background, hence adding texture to this page.

While the texture paste dried, i used the Notebook Edge cut file to cut one of the Pinkfresh Studio papers with it, at the same time a few of the floral images from the Sunny Days papers (Maggie Holmes) from the add-on kit were fussy cut.

I pulled all the blue elements  i could find in the cut apart elements, ephemera and labels to bring the pops of color to this page.   Once i had everything ready, i followed the sketch to create the layers behind the picture using papers from both the Life Chapters and Add on Kits.

The ripped layer of paper was replaced with the fussy cut florals, and all the blue elements were used to create the small clusters that create the visual triangle on this page.   Gotta love the small alphas included in the Life Chapters kit, as they are the perfect font to combine with all die cuts, and so on, just like featured in the title of this page.  The following video will show you how it all came together:

As you can see this page is a reflection of my sister's story and it came together rather easily with the  inspiration the sketch provides.

Now it is  your turn to put the sketch to use in a project of your own.  Remember to share with us what you create, tag @citrustwistkits or #citrustwistkits when sharing it on social media or just upload your picture to the CTK Friends page on Facebook.  We love seeing your creations.

Tuesday Tutorial with Leigh- Punches

Hello, and welcome to today's Tuesday Tutorial. Leigh here, with a layout and a full process video using the January 2017 Scrapbook Kit and the Sprinkles Kit. I am so happy to be posting here for the first time!

The  "Jameson" Scrapbook Kit is so inspiring! Have you taken a peek at those wood veneer? The leafy branch wood veneer pieces inspired this page. I realized I could tie in the patterned paper and the wood veneer with a new Fiskars leafy branch punch.

You can stitch three wavy lines down the left side of the page, to have a spot for the punched bits.
I punched out some aqua, pink and golden yellow patterns from the kit, and started by placing the punched pieces down the left side as if they are growing down the page.

Do you have a new punch you are excited to use? Try this page with any punch that tickles your fancy.

Loving the exclusive pack of die cuts made for Citrus Twist Kits by Pinkfresh Studios!  Pile those babies on underneath your focal point photo.

A close up look at one of the wood veneer in this Scrapbook Kit, tucked under the photo for the title.

Check out the process video below to see the whole layout from start to finish:

Tuesday Tutorial with Veera

Hello, it’s Veera here today to share a layout and a process video with you. This month I got to play with the add-on kit and I was inspired by the frames that were included in the ephemera pack.

From the video you can see how I made this layout. Because I had a clear idea about the design the process of getting the layout done was pretty quick. As always it includes some trial and error when it comes to embellishment placing but isn’t that the fun part of scrapbooking, right?

Here are some close-up pictures:

I hope you liked the video and are inspired to use frames in your next layout!

Tuesday Tutorial with Michelle

Good morning! Michelle here with you today and for my take on this week's Tuesday Tutorial I am going to share with you one of my techniques for creating a layout when I am feeling a little un-creative.

One of my go-to scrapbooking "moves" for finding inspiration is to go back to my albums and find an already completed layout and let that be my inspiration for a new layout.  In this next video, I will show you how I took a layout made in the fall of 2014 using one of my all-time favorite Citrus Twist Kits, and used it as my inspiration piece to create a quick and easy brand new layout using the March 2016 Scrapbook Kit.

Here's a look at my finished project:

My "unofficial" challenge for you today, is to go back you your own albums or gallery, find a layout that you really love and let that be your inspiration behind a new layout or project. If you are able, make sure and upload it to the CTK Gallery so we can all see it. You can also share it with us via our Fan Page on Facebook or upload it to Instagram with the tag #citrustwistkits. Looking forward to seeing what you all come up with!
