Pocket Life Challenge with Jen

Hi everyone! Jen here, and today I'm issuing a Pocket Life challenge to you all. My kids first week of school just happened recently and I thought it would be fun to challenge myself to include some of their memorabilia that they brought home.

I printed out a few pictures at 3x4, then gathered some of the worksheets and pictures. I used a math sheet from my daughter, as well as a pencil and notebook that she drew. My son brought home a picture and a sheet with his name printed on it.

The progress over perfection card was perfect to document my son's handwriting!

I also made sure to label the memorabilia so I could tell what it is later down the road.

I hope you will take on this challenge to use some memorabilia in your pocket life spread!

I would love to see what you do with the PL challenge this week! Please share your work in our Gallery or Facebook Fan Page by Friday, September 22 and title it PL 09/22. Thanks for stopping by the blog and have a great weekend!

Scripture Challenge Share

Hi friends, Tara here today! I'm one of those people that love a good daily challenge. I get so excited but a week into them I'm burnt out and so behind! I'm really loving The Reset Girl's Faithful Life Challenge. It's a weekly challenge and you can do 1 or 4 different scripture writings for the week! I love having options for weeks that are packed full of things, or being able to do more when I find more time.

Here's a little peak at my traveler's notebook entry for Week 2 using the September GraceBox kit.

I started off using some Prima fluid chalk edger with a wipe and made the pink background. Then using this month's stamp set, along with an older GraceBox V4 stamp, I added crosses and stars. I'm loving the awesome alpha stickers that came in the kit this month! I couldn't get the true color to show up but they are translucent and so lovely.

Here is the full traveler's notebook entry. I love writing scripture! It helps me memorize it and I enjoy being able to go back and meditate on different messages from the bible.

This verse is one of my favorites - it reminds me that life isn't meant to be easy or without struggles. We can find our strength through Jesus. I'm so thankful for that!

Thanks for stopping by today! Be blessed, xo - Tara

In My Studio - Anna Uhras

Hi sweet Friends! Anna here today and I will invite you to my very best place in the world, ( ok, almost ,lol!) my scraproom.
First I want to let you know it's not at all as fancy as those white , airy , lovely and just gorgeous studios, BUT it's my very own room and I'm so so happy and grateful for it.

I've used what I had at home to furnish and decorate my scrappy place for almost one year ago. Before that I had a little corner in our bedroom, so this is almost heaven as compared to that :)

Here we go...

I love my big old desk, it's my Father in law's and he's got it from a school when they sold out old furniture. He doesn't use it anymore so I grabbed it, YESS!!

I got an older version of the Ikea Kallax shelf, called Expedit.
I storage my cardstock and my albums in here.
Ohh, and some other random stuff as well...lol!

You also can spy my beloved sewing maschine and my old - totally not fancy- but still working typewriter bought on a second hand store nearby.

I got some shelfs right behind my working area with loads of storage.

Here's a worktop that holds my printer and my absolutely fantastic Silhouette Cameo.
Also it swallows loads of crap in the cupboards and drawers, lol!

To the right yo see my faithful old servant, my lovely green Cuttlebug.
Still going strong!

One of my most recent purchase, a gorgeous storage basket tower from Ikea called Sommar 2017.
And a jar of cotton thread in several lovely colors.

Some close ups..
The wooden box with small plastic boxes in are from my parents old kitchen. I grabbed it when they moved and nobody else wanted it, believe it or not !!
I love it !!

Ahh!! you can spy some CTK boxes!!
I storage all my kits in it's own box as far as I can and as far as it is enough material left.
When there's just some small bits and pieces left I sort them out in other baskets and storage folders.

Just a little peek into my drawers...

Here's another favorite ,well known by many, my RÃ¥skog by Ikea.
It's awesome and gorgeous, win win!!

Well, so that's my kind of  homemade studio :)
As I told you, not so fancy but yet so very perfect for me.

Some day, in my dreams, I will have one of those absolutely lovely light and airy WHITE scrap studios too, but until then I'm totally happy here <3

Thanks so my much for stopping by!

Until next time, take care!

Tuesday Tutorial with Kira

Hey everyone!  It's Kira again for Tutorial Tuesday.  And I wanted to talk a little about inspiration.  Where do you find yours?  I am constantly looking towards other scrapbookers for my inspiration, but sometimes I like to grab my inspiration from unexpected places.

In fact, I have an entire Pinterest board dedicated to "Instagram Walls".  You know what I am talking about, right?  Those gorgeous wall murals people seek out to get the ~perfect~ Instagram shot.

For today's layout using the "Twin Falls" scrapbook kit, I found a picture of a very colorful disco ball wall.  I loved all the elements of this wall mural and thought it would translate well to a scrapbook page.

I started by searching for a picture of a disco ball and turned it into a cut file.  Because my inspiration piece was yellow, I used the exclusive "Pathways" paper as my cut file.  Initially, I thought I would back my cut file but once I placed it against the white American Crafts cardstock, I was in love with the clean look it gave my layout.

I stitched down the vertical lines of my cut file with some white thread.  This added the perfect amount of texture without taking away from the cut file.  I placed my photo (of me and my two monkeys) in the bottom left corner of my layout since they are both looking towards the upper right corner of the photo.

I built three clusters around my layout using some fussy cut flowers from the "Belle" paper from Maggie Holmes, some die cuts from the PFS Escape the Ordinary paper die cuts and some of the foam hearts from the Amy Tangerine thicker pack.

You can watch my entire process below.

I hope you were able to gain a little inspiration from this layout and look outside the box when you are looking for even more!

Let's Get Digital! with Trina

Good morning everyone! It is digital day here on the Citrus Twist blog. We've uploaded two versions of our free September film strip digital file to the Facebook Citrus Twist Kits Fan Page (one PNG and one Silhouette file).

I've made two scrapbooking layouts for you in 6" x 8" trim size. These layouts were made using both the September "Twin Falls" Scrapbooking kit and the Pocket Life kit.

My first layout is based on the Sunday, September 3rd, sketch. It's a perfect use for 2" x 2" photos or cropping in on your subject's face, hands, feet, etc. (Note: two of our Sunday Sketch challenges feature this film strip this month!)

My second layout shares how you can use one photo behind the three windows on the film strip. Because of the positioning of the photo it didn't extend the full depth of the third window so I used some of the Twin Falls Ephemera (September Pocket Life kit) to cover that lower portion of the window.

Here are close-ups:

Be sure to share how you use the cut file in our Gallery and on our Facebook fan page.

Thank you for visiting today!

Sunday Sketch With Anna Uhras

Hello Friends, Anna here today! Happy Sunday everyone , and it's a very happy one for me since it's my very first blog post here as a Dt-member at Citrus Twist, YAY!
It's such an honor and I'm so happy, a dream have come true! Thank you Trina for having me!
I'm here today with another Sunday sketch for you.

I've used mostly the Main Kit other than a tiny little lovely text sticker from the awesome Embellishment Kit.

This is an awesome sketch to work with, acctually it spoke to me the very first time I saw it, lol!
My take is pretty close to the original design, I just turned it upside down.

Also I've used this months Free Cut File for my film strip. You can find it posted on the Facebook Citrus Twist Kits Fan Page.

Here we go..

Love the touches of green here, my no1 favorite color!
It's a page about when our youngest daughter turned six years old, can't believe it, I mean SIX years old already... time flies.

Love this green camera!
And you can see my sewing maschine have been working, always does.
I think almost every single project from me have some stiches on, lol!

Here you see the "Press On" sticker from the Embellishment Kit, they all are awesome!
Also you can spy another of my signture things, some cotton thread, I love it :)

Aahh! can you see those lovely golden glittery alphas? Aren't they gorgeous?!

This was my take on this super inspiring sketch, can't wait to see yours! To play along with this weeks Sunday Sketch Challenge and be eligible to win a $5 gift certificate to the CTK Store, create a layout based off this sketch and post it in our gallery with today's date (9/10) in the title.

Thanks so much for stopping by, have an awesome day!

See you soon again! Take care, Anna xo

3-to-Inspire with Trina

Hi everyone! It's 3-to-Inspire Saturday and we hope you'll join us for this scrapbooking challenge. Each Saturday Citrus Twist provides three prompts to get those creative juices flowing. To play along and be eligible for a fun prize, make sure and post your project in the CTK Gallery with today's date (Sept. 9) in the title. Now lets get to those prompts!
3-to-Inspire day is always one of my favorites on the blog. Today I'm sharing a pocket page spread that I made remembering the last vacation I took with my daughter before she went to college.

These are your 3 challenges:
  1. Use a repeating motif on your page. (I used crosses.)
  2. Do some sort of fussy cutting on your page.
  3. Celebrate something you did as a child.
I made these pages using both our brand new "Twin Falls" scrapbooking kit and pocket page kit. (You can view them here.)

Here is my mini 6" x 8" scrapbook page:

I had so many embellishments and papers - and a darling gray speckled alphabet - to choose from, it was hard to decide where to start. Since I was working with a black-and-white photo, I decided to keep my color palette minimal.

My 6" x 8" Handbook album is the format I've used for my PL for a few years now. I generally have a small "mini" scrapbooking layout facing a page with 3" x 4" cards or 4" x 6" cards.

It's always fun going home to where I grew up but I have to admit it's even more fun when I see my daughter doing the same things that I did when I was young. This is part of your challenge: celebrate something you did as a child! (Don't you just go aargh! when you have a typo. I always go with the flow though.)

Here are a couple of close-ups.

We can't wait to see what you do with the challenge!
