Tuesday tutorial with Lucia

Hello girls :) Lucia here today to share a very quick and simple winter tutorial with you - a star garland.  All you'll need is just some white paper, a punch, scissors and sewing machine.

DSCN9655

I'm using a star punch but you can use circle or other shapes - and also colorful or patterned papers. I like to keep it clean and simple, so I'm using just one shape and one color - white :)

The step-by-step tutorial is very simple. First, cut out bunch of the shapes...

... pull out some white thread...

... and start sewing them together. Leave as much space between each shape as you like by pulling out the thread.

Your garland is ready :) Mine is already hanging! Happy crafting :)

December Guest Designer Steffi Ried + Giveaway!!

Hello! My name is Steffi Ried and I live with my little daughter and my husband in the south part of Germany. I´m working in the administration of a energy supplier. But, I would say my big passion is my love for papercraft and photography! All these things have accompanied me all my life. I started scrapbooking in 2012 and I love to play with all the beautiful patterned papers, embellishments and watercolors. My layouts, mini albums and photos are mostly about my little girl, our travels and the little moments in my life. And what is also interesting about me? I enjoy my life as a mommy, to travel, coffee, chocolate, warm summer evenings and I love to listen movie soundtracks during my scrapbooking-sessions :-) I thanks a lot CitrusTwist to be a guestdesigner this month and I hope you enjoy what I created with this beautiful kit! You can find more about my crafty projects on my blog  or on Instagram

Guest Design Q&A
 1.   How long have you been scrapbooking and why did you start?
I started scrapbooking in 2012. My daughter was born and I searched a good idea
for a mini album about her.
2.   How would you describe your scrapbooking style?
I can't say that I  have a "special style" so far. But I like bright colors and I love to play with watercolors and mixed media. So I often use white cardstock as background for my layouts. Also I like to create many little lovely details on my layouts and mini albums.
3.   What scrapbookers have influenced you most?
I get my inspirations from so many different scrapbookers and paper crafters, but for projects with mixed media Anna Maria Wolniak is my favorite.

4.  What is your favorite thing about kit clubs?
I love the mix of patterns and colors. So it makes easier to create layouts, mini albums...
If I had to choose all the papers and embellis for my crafts, it takes so much time! When I see the different items from the kit I get the ideas which photos fits perfectly for the colors - that make so much fun!

5.  What are your 5 favorite scrapbooking items?
I`m absolutely in love with...sequins, wood veneers, enamel dots, watercolors, color shine sprays

6.  How would you describe the Citrus Twist December Main kit and what do you enjoy most about it?
I think the colors are very warm and harmoniously - perfect for the cold season. It's not a typical christmas kit but you can still create a great layout about this topic...and I felt in love with the enamel dots. Die selection of embellis is huge and flexible to use - it's awesome!

**Make sure to leave her some love to WIN ONE of her favorite things!!!**

Sunday Sketch Challenge with Trina

It's Trina here with another week and another lovely sketch from Design Girl Kasia. Her sketches are a sure way to keep scrapbooking all month long, no matter what size or format--scrapbooking or pocket pages--you are working in. Share your take on this week's sketch in our gallery and earn a chance to win a $5 gift certificate from Citrus Twist Kits.

These days, I'm pretty much working in 8.5 x 11 and 6 x 8 format. These sizes fit my lifestyle so much nicer and I can quickly complete a layout in either of these trim sizes.

Here is Kasia's sketch:

I converted the 12 x 12 sketch to the 8.5 x 11 inch format by cutting down on the background between the vertical borders on the left and right sides. I used 2 photos instead of 3 to better fit the 8.5 inch width of my page.

I started the layout by splattering Tinsel Color Shine randomly on white card stock, then used the fun trapezoid shapes from one of the new Amy Tangerine Stitched pattern papers to create the vertical borders on each side.

Here is a close-up:

The new kraft thickers from December's add-on inspired me to pull out my Heidi Swapp Color Shines in Tinsel and Black. I decided to mimic the popular hombre look by first painting the Tinsel Color Shine on with a brush. While the Tinsel was still wet, I painted over the lower half of each letter with the Black Color Shine, blending the Tinsel into the Black. Here is a close-up up of the end result:

I fussy-cut the butterflies out of one of the sheets of pattern paper in this kit:

Here is one last sneak:

Now it's your turn to take on this week's sketch!  We love to see what you do with our kits and sketches so please make sure to upload your projects to the Citrus Twist Gallery. And remember, by uploading your take on today's sketch to the gallery by 12/7, you will be entered to win a $5 Coupon to use on anything in the CTK Store!

Pocket Life with April

Happy Black Friday, CTKers!  For everyone in the US, I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

April here to share my Pocket Life Week 37 using the November PL and PL Embellishment Kits.  This was one of the spreads that I did as part of my catch up effort.  I had the spread planned and my photos in the page protector, so all I did was fill it with the fun details.  I definitely have been keeping things more simple since I am playing catch up.
