3 to Inspire with Jessy

3-To-Inspire

Hi, I'm sharing my first "3 to Inspire" challenge. You can find this challenge here every Saturday for those who need a little extra creative push to get scrapbooking, to keep scrapbooking or for those who just like a challenge! Your take on this challenge can be a layout or a PL spread and remember that you'll want to include all 3 prompts on your project.

Your prompts this week are:
  1. Use cirlces
  2. Use enamel dots
  3. Use stickers (it can be alpha/ numbers, etc)

With my layout, I was inspired by the wood veneer stickers by WRMK that you can find in the May Add-On kit. Basically that's how I decided to go circle all over my layout.

TIP > I wanted to use up the Elle's Studio alpha stickers too, so what I did was to arrange them onto a white card stock and punch them out with my 2" circle punch.

Now it's your turn! Use the three prompts to create your own projects and share them with us here in the gallery and/or in our Facebook Forum. You can also upload to Instagram and tag us @citrustwistkits. Look forward to seeing your takes on this challenge.

Thanks for swinging by!

Mini Album by Jessy

Hello there! I'm here to share with you what I have created with the Citrus Twist Kits May 2015 "Tropical Zest" Add-On kit. Such a beautiful kit!

Mini albums are really fun to create especially when you have a bunch of photos of the same event. Each page doesn't need to be too complicated. In mine, I kept it simple and each page has a similar composition with the previous page.

I wanted to document Easter 2015 for my daughter as it was her first time celebrating in school with her friends.  I used everything in the kit except for the gold polkadot washi tape & the yellow arrow on the cover :)

Hope you are inspired to get your kit and start creating! Thanks for coming by!

mini album tutorial with Lucia

Hello girls! Lucia here today to share a tutorial about how to create a cute little mini album - and recycle at the same time! My mini is about my trip to Prague last week :-)

Here's what we're going to need:

IMG_6080
/ hot glue gun, crop-a-dile and brads, two metal rings, sewing machine and the Citrus Twist Kits - I'm using the mix of April and May main and sprinkles kit - and we are going to use the cardstock and paper bags as a base for our mini album /

For the first time in my life, I wanted to make a mini where each page had different size - and it was so hard, lol. (i'm a bit of a perfectionist...). The mini album's cover is about 6.5'x4.5' and I cut it out of the craft cardstock that comes with every main kit. I covered it in the patterned paper from both sides:

Here are the paper bags that I'm going to use. To make the pages look more pretty and solid, I cut out two pieces of cardstock for each paper bag and glued it on to the both sizes of the bag.

3 4

I used only a school glue to position the papers and I sewed the upper and bottom edge later on to secure the paper. I didn't sew on the right side in order to get a little pocket for flaps :-)

5 6

I punched holes and the base is ready.

Now for the fun part - the embellishing! Here's my finished album. I used some of the pockets to insert little cards with journaling and some additional materials such as lace, fabric or tissue paper.

In My Studio with Diane

Hi I’m Diane and I’m so excited to have joined the Citrus Twist Kits Pocket Life design team!

Today I wanted to give you a quick tour of my studio. I got really lucky when we bought our house because there was an extra room that I could immediately paint pink and use for all my crafting (and supplies)! I’m a little bit of a neat-freak so I try to keep this room as tidy as possible. I love the feeling of putting everything away in its place after a crafting marathon. That way I have plenty of room to start again next time!

On one side of my room is my desk set up, which is where I do most of my creating, but it also has my computer for work and, more importantly, Pinterest browsing. The shelving unit on the left holds all my albums, cameras and lens, stamps, books, dies, paper, journalling cards, my Cuttlebug, paint, ink and various knick-knacks.

The other side of the room has a comfy couch which is perfect for a bit of reading and a coffee (as well as being a handy place for storing all my kits that are waiting to be used!) This side also has a set of drawers that hold all my inks, paints, pens, letterpress supplies, Silhouette mats and blades, card stock, pattern papers, paper trimmer and the bottom drawer has become a home for everything else that doesn’t fall into any of those categories! On top of the drawers I keep my typewriter which I love to use for journalling since I don’t have the tidiest handwriting.

On my desk you can always find my planners, sketchbook, any mini books I’m currently working on, my printer and Silhouette, a bowl of wood veneer and my large fishbowl of wash tape. And usually a few empty coffee cups – but I tidied those away for these photos!

I keep all my smaller embellishments, flair, veneer, brads and sequins in clear, segmented containers so I can always find what I need. All my stamps and dies are stored in labelled Avery Elle pockets in bins on my shelf so they are always handy and I can quickly flip through them to find what I need.

I tend to use what I can see the most, so I try to keep as many supplies out and visible as possible. The large tray on my desk holds all my essential tools – corner rounder, Tiny Attacher, pens, scissors, tags, brushes, adhesives. I found that since I made a permanent place to set up my sewing machine, I use it so much more because I’ve eliminated the hassle of pulling it out every time. I use the shelves above my desk to store smaller packets of embellishments and stickers, mists, die cuts and my latest favourite scented candle (Grapefruit and Mint – yum!).

This is the room I send the most amount of time in and it is constantly evolving but I love it to bits! I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing a peek into my space.

Sunday Sketch with Trina & Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all of you Moms out there! Today my sketch is in memory of my Mom who I miss to pieces.

Here is a brand new sketch from Citrus Twist. This week we are working with two photos and lots of circles for embellishing, plus fun paper layers. Here it the sketch:

My twist on this week's sketch is a 12x12 conversion down to 6x8 for my Handbook album. I had to scrunch things down a bit and moved my journaling poem up to take the place of one of the 2 photos.

I loved the circles, stitched and otherwise, in this week's sketch and they are what really grabbed my attention. I did swap out the mist splatters for fussy cut hearts from the Rise & Shine paper that comes in this month's Main "Life Is . . . " May kit.

Here is my finished page:

I have been holding onto the little bird October Afternoon flair button, wanting to use it on a layout about my mom for over a year, so that one came from my stash. I also used a piece of old lace from my mom's sewing stash for one of the sketch elements plus some shell buttons from her old sewing chest.

Here are some close-ups:

Now it's your turn! Make a project inspired by this week's sketch, upload it to the Gallery by May 17th with the sketch date (May 8 or 5/8) in the title, and you will be eligible to win $5 to spend at the CTK Store-how awesome is that??

Wishing you all a fun, relaxing Mother's Day.

3 to Inspire with Nathalie

Hello! This is a very sad post for me as it is my last as Design Team member for Citrus Twist Kits. It has been 3 amazing years since the day Trina selected me to be on her very first team. I am so grateful to her and I will remember her wonderful kits each time I'll look back at the many pages I created with them!

Speaking of which... ;)

Our weekly 3 to Inspire challenge is for those who need a little creative push to get scrapbooking, to keep scrapbooking or for those who just like a challenge! Your take can be a layout or a PL spread but remember to include all 3 prompts on your project!

Here are the 3 things I would like to inspire you to do:
1/ Use your hobby/hobbies as the subject
2/ Create your journaling as a list
3/ Use packaging

Here is my example created with the May "Life is..." and Sprinkles kits:

nathalie_CTK600_ctkmay2015
In this homage to my years on the CTK design team, I created a collage showing a layout from each of the kits I received. I also used a brown paper bag as a mat, with a few "goodies" sticking out, because for me they are a trademark of Citrus Twist kits. Finally, I listed what these three years represented in my scrapbooking life...
Here are a few close ups:

Now it's your turn! Use the three prompts to create your own projects and share them with us in the CTK Gallery and/or on our Facebook Fan Page. You can also upload to Instagram and tag us @citrustwistkits. Looking forward to seeing your takes on this challenge!
