It's November Reveal at Citrus Twist Kits

Welcome to reveal day at Citrus Twist Kits! This month we officially changed reveal date to the 5th so you'll now get to see our kits a full week earlier. We have lots to share with you today.

This month we are offering a self-paced class taught by Kasia Tomaszewska called "STARTbooking: Scrapbooking Beginner's Class. This class has been built with lots of love and techniques and is perfect for beginner scrapbookers and those who need inspiration to dive into their scrapbooking stashes and get scrapping! This class is available for purchase on our Kits page, and Kasia has also filmed a video promo for it.

This is our "Darling" Main kit. The rich vein of fuchsia will pop on your layouts, but its pretty fun how neutral you can go with this kit, too. That makes it one versatile kit packed with embellishments. The wood chip heart can be glued down, painted or stitched. This month's stamps were designed by @fabstagram, Design Girl Kasia's other half! His darling hand-lettered alphabet and line drawings add the perfect touch of whimsy.

We've got some "Good Stuff" for you in this month's Pocket Life kit. In the photograph you can see the 6 x 6 Dear Lizzy Polka Dot Party paper fanned out. With our PL kits you get an entire 6 x 6 paper pad. Did you know that Wednesdays on our blog are 6 x 6 paper day? Wednesdays are the day our designers share ideas on how to use your 6 x 6 paper stash.

Cosmo Cricket's new Creative Girl paper line graces this month's "My Everything" kit add-on. This paper was not made available in 12 x 12, so we've mixed a half pad of Creative Girl 8 x 8 into this beautiful kit and married the paper with some patterned 12 x 12s (WRMK, Crate Paper, Chic Tags) with lots of scrumptious embellishments.

The "Pictures" Embellishment kit is loaded with stickers, chipboard, buttons, tags and kraft paper cameras. It matches our Main and Pocket Life kits.

"Cutie Pie" is our monthly PL Embellishment kit. We design these to coordinate with your PL kit and to give you that little something extra to make your Pocket Life pages come to life. 

The "Stories" Pattern Paper kit is so much fun! This kit is almost too easy to reach for when you are working with either of your kit subscriptions this month.

Our Christmas stamp "Good Tidings" is here! This is a 4 x 6 stamp set that is filled (stuffed!) with lots of great words, phrases and whimsical drawings. @fabstagram designed this stamp for us. Whether you are working with our Christmas Daily kit, scrapbooking the holidays, card making or doing mixed media, there are so many stamps on "Good Tidings" that you'll have lots of inspiration to reach for. You can track the countdown to Christmas with the hand-lettered numbers.

Our November Stamp Add-On is "Live Inspired." This stamp set speaks for itself!

It's not too late to get your Christmas Daily kit. (Out of respect for the recent trademarking of December Daily, we have changed the name on our Christmas kit to Christmas Daily). At the time of photographing this kit, we hadn't yet received the custom wood chips, thicker alphabet (red glitter foam) and custom flairs (4), so there's even more to work with than you see. This month in our store we are offering choices on Christmas Daily albums, too. If you are a subscriber, your Christmas Daily kit will ship out with your November subscription. Kits begin shipping on the 15th this month.

Tuesday Tutorial With Amélie - Playing with embellishments

Hi,
Here is Amélie and today, I'm going to share with you some little tips to show you how to play with Heidi Swapp's transparency embellishments from Main kit.
Last month, I showed you a similar technique with gelatoes. Here, Prima Ink is used from the kit.

Below are needed supplies:

On a clean plan, put some Prima Inks:

Add spray water:

Then take your transparency embellishment and ink them:

And press your embellishment on your paper. You can try with several embellishments shapes like those:

Now, you would use them by overlaying transparency embellishments or not. This technique can also be used to create background.

And you can try it without water for a different effect:

 

Here is my layout using the two different tips (with or without water):

Guessing Game #5 Simple Stratgies

Hello Angie here to share a little Simple Strategy with you today.  Before I forget I just wanted to remind you all that our reveal day is now the 5th of every month which means TOMORROW is reveal day!!  You will love these beautiful kits ( I know I do)!

For this layout I used the November Kit add-on only.  I also used Heidi Swapp's Gold Color Shine.

Now for the details.  I first cut my patterned papers and layered them under the picture.  I'm one who loves adding accents to my layouts to make them pop.  So here is a picture of my basic layout.

All I did was added a doily (which comes in the Kit Add-on) behind the picture, added part of a doily to the corner, add some gems, and splattered some mist.  Isn't it amazing how just adding some so simple as doily can change the look of a layout?!!

Guessing Game #3: Sunday Sketch with Nathalie

Happy Sunday CTK fans! It's Nathalie here today to share our first sketch challenge of the month and my example created with the November main kit only:

I am always so inspired by Kasia's sketches that I stay pretty close to the original designs... but this time I was hesitant to cut photos into circles (would love to see your page if you do!) and I came up with the idea of adding vellum with a round window on top of my 4x6 photo instead. I really do like the end result:

NON-KIT ITEMS: Tim Holtz tiny attacher and Ranger mini mister (available in the Citrus Twist store), DMC thread, Prima ink, acrylic paint

This kit is so pretty and versatile, I can't wait to show you the rest of my pages with it!

BIG NEWS!!! Citrus Twist Kit Club Design Team Call

 

Citrus Twist Kits, a kit club designed to inspire scrapbookers worldwide, is seeking new members to expand our wonderful Design Team! Every month Citrus Twist Kits creates a kit that uses new products on the market and delivers inspiration to scrapbookers everywhere.

We will be taking submissions from now through November 25, 2013. We want to see your best work and want you to take the time to put together a thoughtful application that speaks to your love of scrapbooking and what you will bring to our team.

We are seeking talented designers (worldwide) who are passionate about scrapbooking. As a Design Team member you will promote our kits and website on forums, our blog and other social media outlets (like Instagram, Twitter and Facebook). 

Requirements

As a member of our Design Team, you will be asked to:

1. Create 3 scrapbook layouts each month (one made with our Main [or add-on] kit only. Once every 2-3 months, 1 of your 3 layouts will be based on a sketch that we supply.)

2. Contribute one technique/tutorial quarterly (tips or techniques with step-by-step photos--our DTs get a monthly calendar on which they can sign up for blog post dates). Your tutorial or sketch layouts can be part of your 3 required layouts.

3. Create 1 alternate project of choice each month (in addition to your 3 monthly layouts): Card, mini album, Pocket Life page, etc.

4. Post your layouts monthly to other online forums and scrapbook communities, referencing Citrus Twist Kits.

5. Promote Citrus Twist Kits on your blog weekly.

6. Promote our classes on your blog.

We encourage you to submit your work for publication but please give Citrus Twist Kits proper credit in the contents list.

Guessing Game #2 - Saturday Inspiration with Sandy

Hi it's Sandy with my first layout using the November kits. I thought it's appropriate to place the photo of this little darling, dressed for an Alice in the Wonderland party, against a tumble-down cascade of 4"x6" cards which leads to a fussy-cut clock face.

 

I love playing with patterns so it's great having smaller designs from  the Add-On Kit 8"x8" papers to throw into my pattern mix. With the pattern-play being the centre of attention, I keep the colours and textures minimal. Wood grain is repeated across the page providing texture and a warm background for the other neutral colours of power blue and cool grey.

Starting this month we are moving our reveal date from the 12th to the 5th. We'll still do our Guessing Game during the first 4 days of the month with full reveal for everyone on the 5th. So  leave a comment with your guess of what's in this month's kits based on what you see in my layout and you'll be entered to win a $5 GC to the CTK shop!

Introducing our November Guest Designer ~ Janna Werner (Giveaway)

My bio: Janna Werner lives in North Germany, together with her husband, the dog Sindri, two rabbits and a few foster fishes. Janna´s love for papercrafts and mixed media art evolved in 2010 when a friend introduced her to scrapbooking. Since then she has been working together with well-known papercrafting companies, magazines and international designers/artists. She is currently doing design work for Crate Paper, entreArtistes magazine, Elle´s Studio, OhDeerMeKit by Freckled Fawn American Crafts, and Two Peas in a Bucket.

How long have you been scrapbooking and why did you start?

- I started papercrafting in 2010 and scrapbooking in 2011. A friend of mine introduced me to scrapbooking and it didn´t take long until I got hooked. I always loved stationary, pens and pretty paper, so this was the perfect hobby for me.

 

How would you describe your scrapbooking style?

- I guess it depends on my mood. I love shabby and filigrane designs in light colors, but sometimes I also enjoy creating a colorful and straight layout. The more I got on my mind, the straighter and cleaner my pages get.

 

What do you like about kit clubs?

- The surprise and excitement of what will be in the next kit. I also find it convenient that someone else thought about what fits together and/or what might look great on a page or any other papercrafting project. Usually there items in a kit that I would not have grabbed myself, but in the end I adore them. Great for stepping out of my comfort zone from time to time.

What are 2 blogs you get inspiration from?

- Tara Anderson, The Pink Couch and Stephanie Dagan´s blog are two fantastic blogs, but there are tons of blogs that I enjoy, it always feels unfair to me to name only a couple, because I get inspired by so many people.

 

If you were stuck in Paris, what are 5 scrapbooking supplies you would want to have with you (besides your camera and photos)?

- Paris?! No way I would scrapbook then ;) I´d rather eat Crepes and climb the Eiffel Tower, visit The Louvre and improve my French. Well ok, just in case I get stuck for a veeery long time.. I´d love to have my sewing machine with me (handy, right?!), white cardstock, a black pen, scissors and glue. Embellishments are everywhere, so I think I would be ok with those 5 things :-D

 

What was your favorite thing about the November Kit? Why?

- The variety of supplies - there are light, but also colorful items in the kit. Furthermore there are tons of embellishments in it (although I wouldn´t need them in Paris, I am a sucker for embellishments ;-D ).
