Food Coma - patchwork mini book with process video

Hi Guys! It's Mira Jurecka here today with some mini book love :)
I have like tones of pictures presenting very simple story - our daughter's recent food exploration. She's at the very beginning of that adventure but She's doing great, You should see Her! Her funny faces and the apetite! Adorable...
I thought it would be nice to have some of those pictures closed in the form of mini album.
So when I saw CP Wonder collection from September PL and Embellishment Kits I knew immediately - this is the time! I want it all in my mini book!
And here it is - fat little scrapbook that I admire:

For some time now I looove creating this tag pendants to add some fun extra dimension to my mini books. This time it was super easy, cause I found a lot of tags in the kits! Some of them were ready-to-go, some of them I cut from the mini paper pad.

Obviously there is a lot of space in my mini albums to use these gorgeous CTK stamps!

With all those tiny lovely stickers, small paper elements, puffy stickers and scraps of paper my mini was super easy to put together!

And talking about super powers... I especially love the picture, where Ola holds the spoon with Her feet - isn't that funny? Do all the kids have that skill?

Oh yes - She seems to really enjoy this food journey!

Tuesday Tutorial with Karen

Today I thought I would share with you how I add some mixed media to my layouts. I've been adding paint splatters to most of my layouts for a while now, and I love the effect it creates, it adds depth to your pages and I hope that by showing you how easy it really is, you will give it a try on your next layout.

Below is what I grabbed in my studio, part of my creative process is gathering my papers and embellishments first, this helps with keeping under 15 minutes. The products I used on this layout are from what I had left over in the September Pocket Pages Citrus Twist Kit.

I love a good 'Grid' design, and I usually stick to this format when creating a layout. 

Place the squares on the page, including your photo. Play around with the patterns until you are happy with the look.

I had a few pl cards left over, including this one 'Sweet Thing' above, so I cut around it and placed in the middle of my 'grid'. 

I then added a few embellishments on the grid and around it. There is no real method in my madness here, it's pretty much hit or miss, whatever I feel satisfied with. I just play around with it.

Now for the real fun, mix up some paint in your palette, I went with a pink. I use a Zig Watercolour system brush and you just squeeze in some water with paint, this creates a runnier consistency to work with.

As you can see from above use your pointer finger to 'flick' or 'spatter' the paint on, you can even add some paint dots to your page to give it those bigger paint 'dots'. Add as much or as little as you want, again, there is no rule, no method, just when you feel enough is enough. 

And that's it, pretty easy huh. I added a little corner embellishment on the bottom too. This layout took under 15 minutes.

Go Big or Go Home with Aimee

Today I have a really quick and easy layout for you that works on a very simple principe - Go Big!

It all starts with a big photo and a big alpha. Once you have them in place you are already three quarters of the way done! 

I choose to mat the photo on big chunky banners in a smaller pattern paper to match the patterns on the alpha and give the layout more detail. The theme I had in mind was big, overstuffed old lady couch - you could just go with rustic.

Once you have your 'big' pieces in place it's time to add the tiny little details that make the spread yours and brings the layout all together, like the twine that tied up Septembers kit, a button and a felt heart from the Wonder ephemera pack. I also went a little crazy with the black destress ink just to amp up the 'well worn' feel. 

So there you have it my giant old lady overstuffed couch - I mean layout. All done and dusted in under an hour.

Hello! It's Mira Jurecka with 3-to Inspire challenge! You can find this challenge here every Saturday for those who need a little extra creative push to get scrapbooking, to keep scrapbooking or for those who just like a challenge! Your take on this challenge can be a layout or a PL spread and remember that you'll want to include all 3 prompts on your project.

For this inspiration I created a PL spread presenting the Family Gathering that we recently participated in. My hubby's cousin was getting married, so we've had a chance to meet with almost everyone that we love which means lots and lots of hugs and kisses!

Your prompts this week are:

1. Use a lot of small pictures
2. Add plenty of labels and banners
3. Use black ink to add some splashes here and there

Most of the time in my Pocket Album I use 4x6 pictures, so using a lot of small pictures was very challenging for me. On the other hand I use a lot of  banners and labels in my works and plash a little from time to time so those two were easy peasy! To create my spread I used September Project Life and Embellishment Kits (those are full of labels and banners!)

Pocket Life Sketch Friday with Marie-Pierre

Hi everyone!

It's time fore Pocket Life Friday!! Let me share my latest Pocket Life spreads using the September PL Kit and Embellishment Kit.

When the paper is so beautiful, it's hard to cover up with a picture!!! :) In that case I cute tiny label will do.

That spread is all about my daughter's birthday and I didn't want to leave many pictures behind so I added an insert.

The tab is a label I stapled on the page protector. I added a word sticker over it.

The big 5 is a stamp from Stampin'Up! and is not included in the kit.

I absolutely loved the pretty happy colors this month and the cute puffy stickers!!

The heart here was punched and then I backed the whole with one of the yellow cards.

On that last picture I used my own handwriting font that I added in Photoshop before printing.
