Sunday Sketch With Aimee

Hey there Citrus Twist friends!  It's Aimee here with you today with another Sunday Sketch. Like most, I love using sketches when I am feeling less than creative but also just as a jumping off point. Many times the finished product does not look like the sketch at all while other times I follow it rather closely. Let's take a look at this weeks sketch:

I absolutely love all the details in this sketch and what I love most about Citrus Twist Kit sketches in particular is that they show detailed embellishment arrangements! It really takes the guess work out of putting your page together when you receive your new products. Today, I have decided to follow the sketch pretty closely but I will modify it to fit inside my Life Crafted album.

I love the plus sign die cuts from the Here We Go die cut pack, they reminded me of a hospital insignia and so they are actually what  inspired me to document this particular story— a story about a spell of appendicitis I had in June. To start this page off I noticed that the sketch seemed to have some splatter in the background. I used a Faber Castell Gelato stick in the color Amber and a wet paint brush to add some beautiful droplets to my page. Next, I laid out a large 4x8 inch cream tag as my base that will span  across both pages. I layered up bits and scraps of paper from the Jen Hadfield paper pad on top of my tag in a similar fashion to what is shown on the sketch. I'm really leaning into those warm orange, yellow and red tones right now!

Now, obviously in the sketch the die cuts shown are ones with rather upbeat sentiments on them and my photo obviously tells a not so great story. That's totally okay though because I was easily able to swap them out for more fitting embellishments from the pack. I exchanged, "It's a good day" for "you got this" and "my happy place" with "I'm done" and so on.

I simply adore how the sketch calls for scattered plus signs and added machine stitching. So many fun details that add so much interest and texture! I went ahead and added stitching where I could and a little black puffy sticker from the Stars and Hearts sticker sheet that I could not pass up. So fitting!

On the right-hand side under my photo I added a chipboard sticker from The Good Life chipboard sticker sheet and typed in my journaling.

At last, I trimmed the whole layout in half so that it could fit into each page protector.  I love that this sketch is still relatively intact and still feels like it is one piece— despite being cut into two separate halves. Sketches can absolutely be shrunken down in scale to fit whatever format you're working with. I encourage you to give it a try and see what you come up with!

Affectionately,

Inspiration with Marivi

Hello everyone again, this atypical summer is over, I am looking forward to it and that in time we truly return to normal.
While we continue scrapping ...

I have two designs to show and I hope you like them.

For the first, I used one of the papers that I liked the most from the collection that comes in the August kit.

I have placed the photo, and I have been adding different ornaments.
With the puffy alphabet I have pasted the title in the bookmark, which I have used as one more page.

In the title I have played with color combining them with enamel dots and stamped words.

In this photo you can see the ornaments in detail ... I have mixed stickers, ephemera, chipboard.

For the second I have used the pieces of paper that I have left over from other designs.

I have cut some strips of paper and I have placed them under the photo, I have sewn them and I have added different elements.

With a stamp I have made a label between the papers, in addition to several ephemera.

I have also used pocket cards to complete the layout.

I wish you a good end of August!

Pocket Page Challenge With Lisa Varshine

Hi friends! I'm back today to share a pocket page spread using the gorgeous August kit and add-on. I really loved the cheerful and bright, very summery colors of this kit and they worked perfectly with my photos from our recent family trip to Lake Oconee, just outside of Atlanta.
Being a die-hard pocket page crafter, the first thing I'll often look at when I get a new kit is the journaling cards. I feel in love with these 3x4 cards immediately. I knew this sunset photo would be front and center and the colors played so well with the colors from these cards.
This spread was truly about my daughter and not as much about the actual trip, so I wanted to include a sweet, feminine element. The add-on kit has the most gorgeous flowers that work surprisingly well with so many themes. I also love to juxtapose the sweetness a little bit with a healthy dose of black (coming both from the black and white photo and the 6x8 number patterned paper I trimmed from the Life Crafted Kit.)
I think the great die-cuts and embellishments from the kit and add-on almost stole the show in this spread. I love the sunshine die-cut, the banners, the hearts, all of them. I'm a fan of subtle embellishments that add to your story, not overpower it. If you've seen some of my spreads, you know I prefer fairly simple, graphic pages.
I hope you found a little bit of inspiration in this spread, thank you so much for looking!!

Easy Peasy with Kira

Hey there!  It's Kira and I am back with another layout in my life crafted album.  Today I am focusing exclusively on the add-on kit.  Here's a look at the layout I made:

I want to start out by saying that neither the photos nor the cut file was influenced by one another and this was totally serendipitous...don't you love when that happens?!  I started by printing my photo, which is this adorable lemonade stand photo shoot I did with my kids.  I have about a million photos but narrowed it down to one for this layout.

Once I had my photos printed, I always like to flip through the kits to see what would work and pull out the papers and embellishments I think will work.  I was immediately drawn to the bright yellow and blues from the Pink Fresh Studio papers and as always, the grid paper from Crate paper, which I knew would make the perfect background.  There were a few pieces from all the embellishments that I knew would work as well, so I set those aside while I looked for some inspiration.

I didn't really have a plan for how I was going to scrap this photo, and when that happens, I love to browse the cut files.  Well, it didn't take long for me to fall in love with the Easy Peasy cut file...I mean, it couldn't be more perfect right?!  I decided to separate the pieces, cut out two of the lemon bunches and cut out only the "Easy Peasy" part of the title (which I also welded together in Cricut design space so it would be easier to adhere to my page).

I backed the lemons with the yellow paper.  And cut "Easy Peasy" out of the blue paper.  On the left page, I attached the lemons to the background paper with some foam adhesive.  Then I glued the title directly on top.  I added a few of the tiny puffy stickers for a little bit of whimsy.

On the reverse page, I adhered the lemons directly to the background paper (not foam adhesive).  Then I layered, behind my photo, the white doily and blue paper.  I adhered my photo to the paper with foam adhesive.  I added a foam thicker flower to the corner of the photo and finished off the embellishment cluster with a "celebrate" die cut and some more puffy stickers.

And that's it!  Thanks for stopping by and taking a look!  I'll see you soon!

xo, Kira

August Life Crafted with Amanda Baldwin

Hi CTK Friends & Fans!

Amanda here, sharing some more August Life Crafted: Chasing Rainbows Kit inspiration!
If you missed my scrapbook layout post earlier this month, you can go back and check it out HERE.

For today's post,  I am totally focusing on documenting the everyday stories in my Life Crafted Album. Nothing fancy or time consuming - just simple, beautiful everyday moments recorded!

Here's what I have created with the Chasing Rainbows Kit....

"This Kid"

How sweet is this?!
I've been going to scrap these photos for sometime now, but never really found the right collection to do it with. Until now! The designs on the exclusive pattern papers are similar to the one on my son's shirt, and partner perfectly! The cool blues & teal with the white base create such a refreshing, and modern look. A light & fun color palette for Summer pages. Love it!
Here's how these pages look in my Life Crafted Album.....

To add emphasis to my photographs, I layered both of them on 3 x 4 note cards, and kept embellishments to a minimum. You'll spy a few tabs and hearts, and of course, those incredible printed cork stickers. The cork adds a touch of warmth & balance, and connects the color photograph to both pages.
I used the vellum tape stickers for a tiny spot of journaling, and finished with the Turquoise Puffy Alphabet Stickers title.

Simple, but so effective!

Next up, I created a page for my darling daughter, using some of the gorgeous florals in this month's kit....

Sigh! SO pretty!
Another really simple design that only takes a minute to create.
Here's how.....
Simply trim the pink floral pattern paper to 5" x 8".
Adhere the 3" x 8" bookmark onto the pink floral paper, about half an inch from the left hand side.

Next, back your photograph onto the yellow bloom 3" x 4" note card, and mount it to the bookmark with thick foam tape.
Embellish with an acrylic heart, sentiment from the Digital Printable Cutapart Sheet, and that awesome Printed Cork adornment.

Voila!
Super pretty & with minimum fuss!
The Life Crafted Kits make memory keeping a breeze, especially for those of us who are time poor!
Here's another double pager from my Life Crafted Album, recording the simple things in life....

Life's little pleasures, indeed! I absolutely LOVE the colors in this month's kit! So much variety, and a perfect mix of Summer blending into Fall!

For the page on the left, I have used a 5" x 8" sheet of smooth white cardstock and layered it with note cards. I used the acetate ephemera for my title at the base of my page, and then embellished with printed cork, a chipboard sticker, and a vellum tape sentiment.
For the page on the right, I  opted for a pattern paper base, which I mostly covered with smooth white cardstock. I oversized the bloom pattern tag from the Digital Printable Cutapart Sheet, & created a book mark to layer my photograph and embellishments onto. Here's a closer look for you.....

Such a simple, but oh so pretty page!
And there you have it!
Daily documenting made super easy, and really beautiful with the Life Crafted Kits & Albums!
I hope I have inspired you to dive into your kits, and start documenting those important everyday stories!
Thanks so much for visiting,
