Pocket Life Sketch Friday

Hi everyone! It's Trina here today sharing some simple pages I've made for my pocket life album this month. I'm working with the August "Kaleidoscope" pocket page scrapbook kit and August Embellishment kit.

Here is my finished spread:

Here are your PL sketches for the week. We have one for a 4-pocket pocket page and another for a 6" x 8" mini scrapbook layout, so all of our scrapbookers and pocket page scrappers can find something to use here:

Now onto more photos for the sketch. I love the new Dear Lizzy Saturday puffy stickers. They are adorable! The heart cut file is part of our free cut file for the month that you can download over on our Facebook Citrus Twist Kits Fan Page.

Close-ups next!

I used a script font to cut the word "weekend" out on my silhouette. I wanted a title that was script-looking that would fill the width of my page. See that soft yellow acrylic paint? That was used to cover up some journaling that smeared badly. I painted over it using my Illustrated Faith Paint Card (any credit-type card will word) to spread the acrylic evenly. Afterwards I journaled on one of the cutaparts from the August kit and stapled it over the yellow paint.

I don't shy away from working with a mistake on an almost-finished page! The Nuvo Crystal Drops in Buttermilk (a must-have Nuvo color available in our Shop here) were perfect little enamel dot additions that I applied directly on my layout over and around the yellow acrylic paint.

I saved the cut out heart fills from the cut file to use as templates to cut the pattern paper to put behind  the outlined hearts. The last think I did before applying the Nuvo onto my page was stitch some of the cut out heart fills down on my page:

Here is a close-up of my pocket page. The rainbow-striped card and yellow "A History of Magic" strip are from this month's Sprinkles kit (now sold out), from Crate Paper's new Cute Girl Ephemera.

Next, I kept my journaling simple for the pocket page using my retro typewriter and the PL kit stamp:

Pocket Life Sketch Friday

Happy Friday! It's Tara here for our weekly installment of Pocket Life Friday. I have once again fallen head over heels in love with our August PL Kit, which has sold out, and our super affordable Sprinkles kit. Don't forget to read for details on our weekly giveaway associated with today's sketches at the end of the post.

We went on our first camping trip since moving abroad to England in July and had so much fun! The first layout shows how beautiful the lake was and how much we enjoyed our time in the sunshine!
I added in a Freckled Fawn wood veneer from my stash and my DIY enamel dot to the 4x6 PL card. I loved the Seven Baxter patterned paper from this month's kit so much! I also really love using stamps and used a few that we offered from current and past kits.

This next 6x8 mini layout was taken before I added in the journaling. My son ended up with an unexpected and accidental fat lip on our camping trip. He wanted to see the swelling for himself and how well the medication was working so we provided a few photos for him to see. He loves cats so much and the little wood chip cat had the perfect face for this memory. I used some alphas from past kits to add a pop of color and some hints of the patterned paper. The little pink word sticker was just the perfect touch to make it look like I added a tag or label.

And now time for the sketches.
Here are the 2 3x4 cards and a 4x6 card. I really focused more on the photos this time with a few hints of patterned paper, embellishments, and stamps.

And here is the 6x8 mini layout sketch:

I hope these sketches can help spark your creativity to get to it this weekend and document those memories!

For your chance to win some happy mail, create a layout based on the sketches in this blog post. Then post your layout to our Gallery or on our Facebook Fan Page by Friday, August 28th and label it PL 8/21. The winner will be announced here on the blog later this month.

Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!
Xxo, Tara

Alpha love with Emma

Hi everyone!  It's Emma here to share a couple projects I've made using not only the amazing August kits but also some fun alpha's I picked up from the store this month.

I can't help but pick up a little something each time - Trina always uploads those little extra's that you just have to have!  This month it was the Seven Paper, Amelia Gold Puffy Alphabet stickers.  The font is gorgeous!  Plus they're gold.  That alone was a good reason to get them :)

The first project I created was a layout.  I went big with my photo, it's almost a full 6x8.  I set the title at the top of the page to fill that big white space in the photo - the gold against the white makes it really stand out.

To fill the bottom of the page I just picked some paper from Paper Play #1 - I wanted to add some colour given the photo is quite bright.  The tag at the bottom is another shop item I picked up (Maggie Holmes/Crate Paper Ribbon set) then I just layered a few smaller pieces from the Main and Embellishment Kits.  (Oh, the gold dotted vellum I used at the top corner and the gold paper clip at the bottom both came from my stash!)

The second project I created using the alpha's was a card.  I'm trying to make more cards lately.  I mean I have all the materials I need, so why not?!  Seems crazy to keep buying them when I can make them.  Plus I'm lucky enough to have friends that actually appreciate hand made cards or want me to make them for them so they can give them away.  Lucky me :)

For this I pulled a few items from my own stash but the background paper is from the August Pocket Life kit.   On top of this I just added a scrap piece of the gold dotted vellum on top (left over from the layout!) then added my sentiment to a plain white tag, sewed them together and popped some enamel dots in black and gold to tie it all together!  Easy one :)

Did you pick up these the shop this month?  Would love to see your creations if so!  Remember to link them up in the gallery or share them on the Facebook page so we can all see :)

Thank so much for stopping by!
