Simple Traveler's Notebook techniques with Diane

There's nothing I love better than sitting down for a few quiet minutes to create a page or two in my Traveler's Notebook. And those pages don't always have to be a work of art or take hours to do.

Let me show you a few ways that I used my April Pocket Life kit to create thre simple pages in my notebook...

For this first page, I used the FOOD HAPPENS stamp set to create my own pattern on one page and then a small cluster of embellishments around my photo on the other. Adding one embellishment from the right onto the left page helps to tie the two pages together.

For my second page, I went even simpler! That cloud paper was too beautiful not to use the whole sheet, so I simply added it into my book, making sure to cut down the middle to allow the notebook to bend. I printed a large photo to go with it and then added a single journal card with washi tape on both sides. This creates a flap where you can hide your journalling underneath.

If you struggle to write straight like I do, add some lines first. I also added a tiny stamp to fill up the space at the bottom.

For my last page, I backed my photo with a journaling card and added it, along with some lovely woodgrain paper, to the right hand side of my page. Then I used the half circle stamp from the DETOURS set to stamp half and full circle across my spread. Again, this ties the two sides of the page together.

I added a couple of die cuts as my title along with some journalling and called it done!

All of these pages took me less than an hour, which in my books, is an hour well spent.

Do you have any tips for creating quick pages in your notebooks?

Sunday Sketch with Jordan

Happy Sunday, CTK fam!  Jordan here today with your final Sunday Sketch for April and it's a fun one!  :)

For this layout I used the gorgeous Savannah Scrapbook Kit and the April Embellishment Kit.

I stayed fairly true to the sketch this time making only a few minor changes...more like additions, but nothing that changed the over all look and feel of the original.  I found the glittery enamel pack to be perfect for adding the scattered shapes to the page.

One thing you'll see me do from time to time (that I would like to incorporate more often) is that I will hand jam my journaling as a border.  Sometimes I border the entire page with it, sometimes a photo or embellishment.  Here I didn't have a ton to say, so journaling around the photo was perfect.  I really don't like my handwriting, but for some reason, when I border something with it, it doesn't bother me like it usually does, and I really like the effect.

I especially loved the colors in the kits this month.  The mint, pink, coral combo is a favorite.  It's so fresh and bold.  Just right for spring time layouts, don't you agree?

There were so many gorgeous embellishments this month as well.  No shortage of tags and word strips, which I almost always include multiples of on my layouts.
I hope you enjoy this "super, uper, duper" (as my daughter says) fun sketch!  We look forward to seeing your adaptation this week.  Please share your finished layouts with us on our Facebook group and on the Gram.  Don't forget to hashtag #citrustwistkits!

Have a beautiful week and I'll see you back here soon! :)

3-to-Inspire with Anna

Happy Saturday dear CTK friends! Anna here on the blog with this month's last 3-to-Inspire challenge (where did April go? Anyone can tell?)
Anyway this is one of my favorite challenges and I love to share it with you. Hope you'll join me and play along for a chance to win a little something from the shop, YAY!

Here's the prompts for today:

1. Use stamp(s)
2. "Frame" your layout
3. Use at least two (2) stickers

And here's the page I came up with!

I've used the Savannah Main and Embellishment Kit on my page. I'm toltally in love with the happy colors and gorgeous embellishments included this month. It's pure happiness for sure!

My page started with my base paper on which I printed my chosen photo in an edited, almost translucent, version. I framed it with one of the patterned papers from the Main Kit and also I made a stitched frame with my old trusty sewing machine.

I stamped the Alpha Stamp set on the Vellum sheet from the Main Kit and used it for my layers under my photo. Tucked in one of the lovely Pinkfresh Studio stickers into my layers as well.

More gorgeous stickers!! And another stamp, my date stamp (from my own stash)
And who can resist these lovely glittery enamel shapes by Shimelle Box of Crayons?!
Abolutely gorgeous!

I love this little curly arrow stickers  from My Minds Eye Wander collection, soooo CUTE!
AND! Yet another stamped text from the stamp set from the Main Kit as well.

Anothe new favorite of mine, these fabulous die-cut phrases by Dear Lizzy Stay Colorful, irresisteble!

Now it's your turn. use the three (3) prompts to create your own project, marked with todays date, 4/28 3-to-Inspire, and share it with us on our CTK Fan Page on Facebook! I can't wait to see your take on this one!

Thanks for stopping by! Take care, Anna xo

Mixed Media with Nathalie

Hey there!

Nathalie with you today with a new feature in the CTK blog, "Mixed Media".  What can i say?!  I love creating pretty messes for my pages, so when this new post became available in the schedule, i jumped at the opportunity.  Now what can be better than getting messy, you may ask!?!... well the mess is just a background to the beautiful papers and embellishments of this month's Savannah main and embellishment kits.

For this page, i created actually a very simple background.  In this case, i  had an idea on the layout of the page, so i used  a bit of black ink (distress ink and distress oxides stamping pads to be exact) to create the background.

I simply stamped the ink pad on some plastic and/or and acrylic block, and added some water to diluted, and then added to the page to create the background.   Along the way I added a few splatters of the ink to the background to just add to the messy look of it.

While the ink dried, I wanted to create a fun layout for this picture of some of my family after Easter dinner, so the idea of adding lots of color came to mind, and the wheels were the best way to add fun and dimension to the page.  For these i used papers from the main and Patterned Paper play  SAVANNAH kits  (love the vellum look!) , and then used the Pinkfresh Studio wooden buttons as the center of the pinnwheels.

Once the background dried, i added a  bit of texture and detail to it by running some white Whipped Spackle through a star stencil to the background.

Next I glued all the pin wheels along the vertical line of the page, and snuck the title in between the pinkwheels.  Then just added the picture (in a inverted T formation) to the background, and added a large cluster of ephemera so that it would balance the page.  A bit of journal and some stamped images complete the page.

Love how this turned out, and it was  so fun to get messy!  The colors in the papers from this month's Savannah kits are perfect to bring cheeriness to a page.   Here is a more in depth look at how this page was created:

I hope you are inspired to add a bit of mixed media to your pages!  Especially if you are using the fun colors and details of this month's SAVANNAH kits.  If you have questions on how this came together, do not hesitate to contact me!

Take care!,

Nathalie

Bible Journaling | Unfailing Love

Hello friends, it's Tara here on the blog today sharing a quick and easy bible journaling page today. I kept it simple and clean, focusing on the verse and my prayer.

I have been working on being more intentional with starting my day in God's word. Sometimes it's so overwhelming thinking of all the different studies or methods to choose from. I found a really simple, 3 minute routine thanks to Hello Mornings. I love how it's all about GodTime, PlanTime, and MoveTime.

Kat, the creator of Hello Mornings suggests starting with the verse Psalm 143:8.

I used a few bits and pieces from April's GraceBox kit. I wanted to keep this journaling page really simple and bold with the black and white. My favorite elements to use are the Twilight gold foil rub ons paired with the Illustrated Faith clear sticker alphas.

You can faintly see the smaller dot stamp up on the top of the journaling page using a pale seaglass ink and down below using a past GraceBox stamp with lines using a pale pink ink. I wanted to add a few hints of color here and there that was just barely noticeable.

How do you start your day with God? I would love to hear what you do in your daily or even weekly routine.

Thanks for stopping by today and have a wonderful week!

Blessings!
xxo, Tara

Tuesday Tutorial-Candace

Hey friends! Candace back with you today to share a few Tuesday Tutorial ideas.  I am still in love with all the cute colors and themes in the April kit!  I wanted to create a spread all about my little guy turning 11.  I have told lots of birthday stories so this year I wanted to take a little bit of a different angle.

A new way to tell the same birthday story is to talk about favorites and even include memorabilia!  I thought it would be fun to talk about his favorite birthday treat, Nana's Texas Sheet Cake, and even include the recipe.  To start the spread I stamped the date on the title card.

Next, I added my journaling to a 3x4 card in the center of the spread.

I also typed out the full recipe to his cake on the lower right 4x6 card.

I added a few embellishments from the ephemera pack and the ADORABLE leatherette stickers!

I am SO in love with the final spread!  On your next spread try telling a story that you may have told many times in a new a different way.  Also, try adding a pull tab to a card in your spread to make removing it a little easier and make it look SO fun!  Can't wait to see what you create!

Have a beautiful day!
Candace
