3 to inspire with Mira

Hello!
It's Mira here today bringing 3 to inspire challenge to You Guys!

You can find this challenge here every Saturday for those who need a little extra creative push to get scrapbooking, to keep scrapbooking or for those who just like a challenge! Your take on this challenge can be a layout or a PL spread and remember that you'll want to include all 3 prompts on your project.

Your prompts this week are:

1. Cut the photo into pieces
2. Use a bit of washi tape (or scraps of paper to imitate it!)
3. Add some transparent elements to Your creation

And here's how I did this in my Pocket Album:

I cut two 4x6 photos to fit them into 3x4 pockets:

I used pink paislee Cedar Lane washi tapes from November 2015 "Hello Tomorrow" Embellishment Kit together with the gold tapes from November 2015 "Happy Lane" PL Kit

And the last one - transparent elements: I cut LOVE card from PL Kit, stitched it on top of my pictures and placed in the pockets:

Pocket Life Sketch Friday

It's Tara here sharing our weekly installment of Pocket Life Friday. Don't forget there is a giveaway associated with the sketches; read the end of the post to see how to enter!

The November Happy Lane PL kit is full of fun, unexpected colors. I love that this kit works for any location - hello to all my friends enjoying a warm, sunshiney autumn! I also added in some tidbits from the Hello Tomorrow Embellishment Kit for the perfect finishing touches.

Here are a couple of layouts I created this month. I loved the patterned paper and felt that most of them worked so well that I minimized layering and focused on the photos and stamping.

 I love the subtle hint of faux-watercolor on the patterned paper as well!

I was loving the gold washi so much that I created my own card with just a few simple things. I love how easy it is to make custom PL cards.

In the Studio with Michelle

Hi guys and welcome to my take on this month's "In the Studio." I, unfortunately, don't have a room to call my own. Instead, I scrap mainly on the kitchen island and have claimed a hall closet to keep my scrappy supplies. While this suits me totally fine, it does mean I have to be pretty organized and today I am going to share one of my favorite ways to do this.

Since happening upon them in a Michael's about a year ago, I have been a big fan of the Iris Trays to organize the embellishments from my kits. As much as I would love to store all my little goodies in cute decorative bowls and containers, I just don't have the space for them. The trays though, do an excellent job of making my supplies visible to me while I am working. Here's an example of how I have organized my goodies from the November Kits:

The compartments in the tray are of varying widths and I can customize them lengthwise to fit my supplies. When I am unpacking a kit, I will take items such as ephemera out of the package and put them into a section. This makes it super easy to sort through them. I am also not afraid to use my scissors and will often cut down a package to better fit.

      

When I have several bigger items I like to "layer" them in a compartment so that I can still see them. This serves as a visual reminder as to what my options are. I also like to "reserve" a space for bits and pieces from past kits that I think will work the current kits. It is also where I keep the twine from the kit packaging.

November Kit Love

Hello! It's Mira here with November edition of "Kit Love"!

This month I had a pleasure to work with "Happy Lane" PL Kit, "Hello Tomorrow" Embellishment Kit together with "Oh, Sweet Baby" Add-On Kit. All of them are packed with soooooo many beautiful goodies, that when I saw them all I was just stunned! I always bring the pack from the post office at the evening and start creating right away (I really can't get my hands off the kits!). However, this time was different! I left one kit untouched!

Why???
Because I was so excited about it that I needed to share this excitement with You Guys! Now I can finally share it:

Tuesday Tutorial | November 3, 2015

Good Morning! This is Melissa here with you this Tuesday morning :-)

I'm showing you a quick, easy way to make a couple of embellished tags that you could use on different projects! They could be included on a scrapbook layout, a card, or a pocket page! I'm planning on using both of these in my pocket pages for this month!

Gather your supplies:
-Watercolors
-White shipping tags
-Water brush
-Stamps
-Black Staz-on Ink
-Embellishments from the November Pocket Page kits

First, I cut my tags down to fit into a 3x4 pocket. I stitched around the outer edge of the tag with my sewing machine.  Then, I simply used three different complimentary watercolors on my tag and blended together.

I then decided which stamp set I wanted to use and stamped onto the watercolored tag with Black Staz-on ink.

For my next tag, I again started by cutting the tag down to fit into a 3x4 pocket and stitching around the outside edge with my sewing machine. I also chose some corresponding blues/teals in watercolors and blended them on the tag. I decided to layer the gold alphabet stickers on top of the watercolors.

I covered the entire front of the tag with the stickers and then layered the Amy Tangerine puffy sticker on top. Super easy and simple!

These will make quick and easy additions to my pocket pages!

November Guest Designer

This afternoon on the blog, we would like to the take the time to introduce you to our November Guest Designer. Say hello to Heather Adams!

Hi there! I'm Heather Adams, a 21 year old college student. I am going to school for graphic design. I love documenting the little things in life and I enjoy making just about anything you can create with paper-cards, layouts, Project Life pages. you name it! I love making things to give to other people. There's just something about knowing that you put a smile on someone's face :).  Besides scrapbooking, I enjoy traveling (I went to Paris last summer!!), shopping, and photography. I also have a 17 year old sister that I love doing things with.

How long have you been scrapbooking and why did you start?

Since 2009. I wanted to use all the cute papers and stickers that I had gotten for my birthday a few years before. Also, I loved taking pictures and wanted something to do with them other than just send them to my friends.

How would you describe your scrapbooking style?

Clean, cutesy, and detailed.

What scrapbookers have influenced you the most?

I love Elizabeth Kartchner and Jennifer Mc Guire. I just love everything about Liz and her style of projects and products. Jennifer taught me to love card making.

What is your favorite thing about kit clubs?

You get a lot of products that are different, but coordinated!  It's like magic how every item coordinates with the other products and I know that's because they are well chosen!

What are your 5 favorite scrapbooking items?
Patterned paper, wood veneer, diecuts, chipboard, and my tiny attatcher.

How would you describe the Citrus Twist November Kit and what do you love the most about it?

Everyday, bright, and fun are some words that I would use to describe the kit. There are some awesome elements in this kit that could go for basically any kind of page and I love all the different elements and textures that are included in this kit.

Sunday Sketch with Michelle

Happy November everyone! Michelle here with you this morning to share with you this week's installment of our Sunday Sketch Challenge! Starting us off this month is a gorgeous sketch with lots of space for photos and embellishing. 

 

I really liked this week's sketch. I have a big thing for my square punch (it's one of the few punches that survived the great purge of 2014) and I was super excited to get it out to play with! I had initially planned to include all three photos, but my love for patterned paper won out and I used the smaller two square photos for paper instead. Here's a look at my take on the sketch:

I am really in love with the color combination that I was able to create using the November Main and Sprinkles Kit. Yellow is always a welcome addition to a kit.
