3 To Inspire With Jordan

Hey friends!  Jordan here today to bring you your first 3 to Inspire Challenge for February.  Is it really February already?  Crazy how fast it goes, huh?!

The 3 to Inspire are always some of my favorite challenges because it really gets you to thinking and if you're stuck it can be a great way to get yourself out of that rut!

 This weeks prompts are:
1. A spliced photo.
2. A tag.
3. Handwritten journaling.

For this layout I used the gorgeous February "Cedar Grove" Main Scrapbook Kit as well as the February Embellishment Kit.

Once upon a time, when I was a digital scrapper, I used spliced photos all the time.  I'd use a template and clip a photo to the layers to break it up and I always loved how it looked.  Since switching to paper products I have yet to use that technique until now!  I think it adds interest to a layout and it's just FUN!

I chose a photo from back in the summer when my oldest son had just returned from a week away with my parents.  As soon as his sister saw him she ran to him and jumped into his arms.  It was one of those moments that made me really glad that I'm a documenter!

This technique works really well with a grid composition.  You can see here, I trimmed my photo to 2.5" x 5" and then I simply cut it in half so I had two 2.5" squares.  Then I trimmed that adorable lemon tag (seriously how cute is it?!) to the same size.

Upon opening my box, I knew right away I wanted to use the string included in the kit, so I wrapped it around the top adding a charm along with a tag and a sticker and tied it off.  (The tag was a larger one.  I trimmed it down to this small banner size.)

I also really, really loved those cute charms and buttons, so I decided to make a pocket that I could stick some ephemera in.  I trimmed a PL page protector to match my other squares, popped a piece from the embellishment kit in along with a charm and button and sewed it shut. Behind the pocket I layered a vellum tag for added interest.

I added a few stickers from the sticker pack, and the initials of my kids pictured, from the alpha pack.  To finish it off I journaled around the edges of the layout.  Don't be afraid to hand write your journaling!  It's something I struggle with because I really don't like my handwriting.  But there is just something about a handwritten note, isn't there?!  I truly love what it adds here and I'm so glad I did it!  I promise you will be too!

That's all from me!  Now it's your turn!  Please use these 3 prompts and then share your completed layout with us in our gallery and on our Facebook Page!

Hope you all have a beautiful week!  Get out there and make some memories!

xo, Jo
