SUNDAY SKETCH with Katarina

Hey CTK friends,

Katarina here again. Today I am bringing this week’s Sketch Challenge together with a little inspiration on how you can use the sketch.

Here’s the sketch:

And here’s my project.

I created a single page layout in my 6*8 Life Crafted Album and I pretty much followed the sketch. I used the beautiful Slow Days Mini Kit and digitals.

I printed three photos of my son, making silly faces. Who can spot the rainbows of my Life Crafted Albums on the shelves behind him?

I went for a square format of photos to better fit my layout. Then I selected two digital papers from the Slow Days collection. I chose patterns that are not so colorful and busy to make sure my photos and other elements stand out.

Next I cut two stripes of each of the papers and inspired by the sketch, I cut lines in certain places, to later tuck more elements in the paper strips. I machine stitched along the cut lines for some added interest.

I used one of the neutral patterned papers from the Basics & Ledgers 6" x 8" Pattern Paper to create four small tags. I tucked them in the cut lines and layered one of the beautiful floral die cuts from the SLOW DAYS Die Cut Ephemera on top of each of the tags.

I placed my photos together with the Slow Days Tiny Word Stickers on the paper strips and added some more ephemera. For my title, I used more of the Slow Days die cuts.

I love how my layout turned out, the sketch was so inspiring and easy to follow. Hope you feel inspired too to get crafty with our Sketch Challenge this week!

Thanks for stopping by, friends!

3-To-Inspire with Lory

Hello everyone, how are you? It's Lory here today to share a new fun 3-to-inspire article. It's incredible,  the month of January is almost gone and time flies. It wad a very cold month and I have loved it and all its sweet and lazy moments at home, doing little things or nothing but being together laughing and hugging each other. They are priceless moments.

Today I am happy to share a new creative recipe and here it is:
  1. three little photos
  2. journaling cards
  3. a cluster of embellishments and stamps all together
What do you think? It's fun and easy to put together ;)

I have chosen black and white photos taking in a moments that happened at the end of the day and fortunately I had my phone and my camera closed to me. These little things are the best and worth every minute like the stamps say. I have used the slow day kit and the slow days beautiful stamps :)

On the left two of the digital journaling cards and on the right a 6x8 page filled with a mix of embellishments, ephemera and words and phrase stickers and then to complete everything the stamps.

Hop you like it and it inspires you to preserve your priceless memories.
have a wonderful Saturday everyone.

Love, Lory

Sunday Sketch with Nathalie

Hello crafty friends!

Nathalie with you today to share a bit of inspiration with this week's Sketch.   I always look forward to having an easy and fast way to put my memories down in my albums, and sketches are a must for creating a cohesive project in no time.  Think of it as a blueprint for your page.  Let's take a look at this week's sketch:

And here is what I have created using January's Slow Days release for my 6x8 Green Leaf Life Crafted album

I stayed pretty close to the sketch.  I just loved all the circles and grid look of the sketch.

I used a die to cut a few pieces of cardstock, and one of the Slow Days digital papers into circles.  I wanted a selection of colors from this month's release.

I am using the Slow Days stamp set and coordinating inks to add the floral detail to each of the circles. The typewriter print from the Slow Days digital paper collection made for the perfect background for the page. I simply used the design in the sketch for my photo placement.

I made a few changes to the sketch and decided to embellish my page with accents of the darker shades in the collection.  For this, I am using elements from the digital cut apart sheet and ephemera.   I simply followed the sketch to position it all...

I used the sketch as inspiration for my journaling.  In my project, I chose to move the journaling to different page.  This just makes the page airy and soft.  I followed the sketch when it came to the placement of the journaling and even the textures for the page.

The sketch called for journaling printed on vellum,  I took this a bit further and used the material as a way to tie the layout together.  I used vellum as a layer behind the photo, and in the lower pocket of the journal. The opacity of the vellum helps to make the stamped sentiment (SLOW DAYS stamp set) to be easily readable.

I love how this layout turned out.  It was so easy and fun to put this together using the gorgeous Slow Days release with the sketch as inspiration.  Cannot wait to see what you will create!

XO

3-To-Inspire With Diane

Hi Everyone! Happy Saturday! It's Diane here, sharing a fun 3-To-Inspire layout using the beautiful SLOW DAYS kit, as well as the January Digitals. The three items I chose to work with are the January Digital Cut files (The Story of Today), the January digital papers, and the SLOW DAYS stamp set. I used these elements to tell the story of a recent day spent with my husband, and how we are enjoying the slower days of January.

When I saw the digital papers, I instantly thought that they would be fun to cluster together using a shape. I pulled out my punches and decided on the hexagon shape. I pieced those together to create a background for the cut file. I really liked the subtle color and texture it added. On the right side I added the 4x6 photo, stamping in the upper right corner. I also stamped on one of the 3x4 journal cards. I decided to make the larger photo a flip up so that I could add another photo from the day, and also add my journaling.

I added a label sticker to the side of the 4x6 photo so that whoever was looking at my album would know that it was a flip up.

To finish up the layout I added a couple of more photos from the day to the 3x4 journal cards and embellished with some ephemera.

I really loved how it turned out! Thanks so much for stopping by to take a look! I hope you find some inspiration to play and create!

Happy crafting!

Diane

SUNDAY SKETCH with Ashley

Happy New Year friends! We're actually half way, but I hope you are having a great 2023 so far! The beginning of a new year is always a fun time to set new crafting goals, and I hope you have some ideas for using your CTK kits and Life Crafted albums.

Today, I am here to share a layout with you based on this week's Sunday Sketch, using the Slow Days January Mini Kit and Digitals. I decided to add 12x12 layouts back into my designs this year, so I adapted the sketch from 8.5x11 to 12x12, but I didn't have to really change that much.

I stayed very close to the original design of the Sketch. Sometimes I like to change a sketch up by rotating it or moving elements around, but this was already such a great starting point, which meant I could follow it the way that it was. I used two horizontal photos that I sized to 4x3 inches. All of the patterned papers that I used on my layout are from the Slow Days Digitals. I wanted to print them out so I could layer them like they were in the sketch.

I also brought in one of the Cut Files that I designed for this month, Winter Slumber. I thought the flowers would look great tucked behind the layers and that they would bring a great rounded feel to the linear design of the sketch.

I wanted to create a visual triangle with the title and embellishments. I mixed in some of the ephemera pieces from the Slow Days Mini Kit with some of the Digital ephemera pieces. I really love how the different layers in each of the clusters create interest on the layout. One of the main things I changed from the sketch, was moving my journaling over just a bit, so it would be tucked in with the cluster on the bottom right hand side of the page.

I hope you will give this week's sketch a try! It is great for any size that you love to work with, whether it's 8.5x11, 12x12 or Traveler's Notebook size in your Life Crafted album!

3-TO-INSPIRE WITH ETTIENE

Hello everyone.  Happy Saturday.  Its time for this weeks 3-to-Inspire post.  This week I am choosing 3 items from the latest CTK release to create a page.  This week the 3 items I have selected is:
3. Inks in a color other than black

Before I breakdown my page let me show you the finished page.  I decided to create a 5"x8.25" layout which will go inside myMidnight 6"8" Life Crafted album.  This layout features a very typical picture of my family playing games while having snacks at a local restaurant.  We probably had this same experience 3 times over the holiday break.

To begin this layout I decided to do a repeat stamp on some white cardstock.  This is one of my favorite techniques to create a background paper.  I used 2 circles from the stamp set and placed them in diagonal lines.  I used a tan and red ink pad which I selected to match the ephemera in the kit.

I added my photo and selected ephemera from the kit that supported my story of playing games.  I placed this ephemera in a line across both pages.

The final touch was a stamped title.  You can also use the titles from the ephemera kit but I liked the added pop of navy this stamped title added.

If you use this inspiration for a page I would love to see it.  Thanks for reading a little bit more about my process.

Sunday sketch with Alena

Hey everyone!  It's Alena with  layout for Sunday Sketch.

Here's a look at the sketch this week:

I used this sketch for my first page of the new album 2023. I fell in love with this album and couldn't wait for the new year to start it.

I like the SLOW DAYS mini-kit palette. I layered pieces of patterned paper and floral Ephemera. All the words and title were glued with foam pads. I decided to group the small phrases.

To balance the composition, I added mini titles using tiny alphabet cardstock stickers.

Well, then it is time for you be inspired by the sketch to create a page of your own.  Remember to share your creations with us on the Citrus Twist Kits Friends page on Facebook or by using #CTK, @Citrustwistkits on social media.  I cannot wait to see what you create with this sketch.
