3 to Inspire

Hello! Michelle here with this week's "3 to Inspire" challenge!

Your take on this challenge can be a layout or a PL spread and you must include all 3 prompts on your project. This is what I have for you today:

1. Use 4 or more patterned papers.
2. Stack your title.
3. Repeat 1 or more elements.

Here is my take using the January Main " Vernona" Kit:

Using four or more pieces of patterned paper is right up my alley!  I went to town and used a total of five (which includes the background.) The super cute letters from 7 Paper were the perfect size for stacking a title. My repitition of the circles is pretty obvious, but I also added multiple stars and sentiments at the bottom of the page.

Now it's your turn! Use the three prompts to create your own project, share it with us here in the gallery, and you will be eligible to win a small prize from the CTK Store. Make sure to include the date of the challenge in the title of your gallery submission. Can't wait to see what you create!

Sunday Sketch with Emma

Hi everyone!  It's Emma here to share this week's Sunday Sketch challenge.

First up, here is the sketch I worked from:

As you can see, the main focus of this sketch is to use multiple photo's on your layout.  The great thing about sketches is we don't have to stick with the design completely, we can use it as our starting point and go from there!

Multiple photo's on my small 6x8 pages is tough so for this one I kept with the general grid layout but instead of using 4 photo's, I used 4 groupings of patterned paper and added a single photo on top!

I also turned the sketch upside down so the "title" grouping was at the bottom of my page but instead of making it my title, I made it a cluster of paper/embellishments.  And for my title I used one of the veneer words over my photo and grouped with my journaling, just like the sketch only in a different position :)

My finished page is a bit different that the original sketch but I think it's still easy to see where the inspiration came from :)  As I mentioned earlier, that's one of the great things about using as sketch, you don't have to follow it exclusively, they can be such a great starting platform!

Now it's your turn to take on this week's sketch!

We love to see what you do with our kits and sketches so please make sure to upload your projects to the Citrus Twist Gallery. And remember, by uploading your take on today's sketch to the gallery you will be entered to win a $5 Coupon to use on anything in the CTK Store!  Just remember to include the date of the sketch to the title line :)

Thanks, Em xo

3 Layouts - Gina Rodgers

Hi everyone, I'm sharing a few layouts today, created with the January Main 'Verona'+ Sprinkles kits
I've used just the main kit on this first page, beginning with a mixed media background using gesso, mists, inks and graphite.

For this page, I've created a background with mists and distress stains, using a minimal colour scheme of blues and gold. I've used a single doily and cut a section from behind the photo adding it to the edge of the page. I've also added texture with a left over strip of deli paper used in this layout

It was very exciting to create with the first piece of CTK patterned paper in the main kit. I'm loving the muted pinks and orange and have used a large triangle in the corner of the page, along with a few scraps from other sheets. A soft watercolour background helps tie in all the colours. and I've finished with stamping, graphite and ink splatters

Thanks for looking and happy scrapping!
Gina

A Fun Layout with Missy

Hey, friends!  Missy back with you, and I have a fun layout to share today using the January Main "Verona" Kit and the Sprinkles Kit.  I just love this pretty pink exclusive patterned paper in the Main Kit...so I used a big portion of it on this layout.  I did some fussy cutting from the Maggie Holmes cut-apart sheet, lots of layering and some mixed media work.

These cute photos are of my youngest daughter from a few years ago.  She decided to sit inside her little toy box one day and thought it was the funniest thing.  So my title is kind of a funny take on that.

I fussy cut the blue heart and the "LOVE" letters from patterned paper.  I wanted to be able to move the letters around a bit.  I paired them with one of the Heidi Swapp puffy word stickers.  I used some inks and watercolors to give some color to the letters.  I added in one of the exclusive wood veneers, one of the printable labels, a Simple Stories heart sticker and some machine stitching.

I used a few alpha stamps from my stash to create the word "girl" and added my journaling under it.  Mixing and matching fonts is a really fun technique.  It breaks things up and keeps it interesting :)

These white and silver stickers are so much fun, and the sayings on them are great!  I layered in a few scrap pieces of patterned paper here at the bottom and stitched through them.  I like to bring in all the colors from the main portion of the page to any other clusters I create.

I used some gelatos and acrylic paints to add some shading to this part of the page.  I didn't want to completely cover up this gorgeous pink paper, so I only added a bit of yellow and pink.  I did add some white gesso over it all first.  I also added some machine stitching and some loose tangled thread.

This doilie was a perfect embellishment here...I love the pop of yellow.  It also makes a great layer.  I used the excess blue paper from where I cut the heart out earlier.  Scraps make great layering pieces!

Here's one more close-up of the bottom...this cute little flair button matches that blue heart paper perfectly.  I layered it on top of a printable label and Simple Stories sticker.

Here's my process video if you'd like to check out how I made this page from start to finish.  I hope you enjoy!

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I'll see you again soon!

Sunday Sketch with Jessy

Hello everyone! It's my turn to host the Sunday Sketch this week. This time we have a 2 photo sketch and lots of white space for you to play around :)

I followed pretty much to the sketch where I scrapped with 2 photos, a title on the left side of the layout. I also did some light stamping in the middle of the layout to balance up with the large title &  fun subtitle I did around the photos. Totally had so much fun with my Jan Add-on kit + CTK exclusive paper.

Tip>> Don't be afraid to tweak the composition a little or to flip the sketch to suit your style.

Close-up:

Now it's your turn. If you want to play along with this week's Sunday Sketch and be eligible to win a $5 gift certificate, create a project based off of the sketch and upload it to CTK Gallery by next Saturday. Please make sure to include the date of the sketch in the title of your project. You may use CTK kits or any supplies on hand, just have fun with it :)

Thanks so much for stopping by and looking forward to see what your takes on the sketch will be!

Bits and Pieces

Hello there, everyone! I have a layout to share today that I made using all of the leftover bits and pieces from the Pocket Life and Embellishment kits. I'm a fan of using up every last thing, including the paper strips from the 6x6 patterned papers! You can see how I did that below..

I also utilized the bag the kit came in, and punched tiny hearts out of  remaining pieces of paper.

What have you made this month to use up every last bit and piece of your kits? Can't wait to see what you're all up to!

Tuesday Turorial with Marie-Pierre

Hey guys!

Today I have a very short and sweet tutorial for you.
It's more of an idea to get more use of your papers and PL cards.

If there's a card you love so much and you would like to use the as background but you wouldn't want to loose the precious saying on it, cut it out and use the card twice!

Just like I did here:

I carefully cut out the middle of the card with a craft knife.

I used a yellow label from the printout sheet to cover the hole.
Tip: you can color the wood veneer letters with ink or topic markers!

And I used the cut out part of the card on anther card.

Here's how it look on the whole page:

The nice thing about that technique is the repetition of the color that it gives you on the page.

Wishing you a wonderful day!!

Marie
