SUNDAY SKETCH with Marsha

Hey, CTK friends! It's Marsha here today, and I'm excited to share a layout for Sunday Sketch! I enjoy creating with sketches and used this one as a jumping-off point for my page.

Here's a look at the sketch:

This sketch is in an 8.5x11 format, but it was easy to convert it to a Life Crafted spread by separating the design down the middle of the page.

Here's my layout:

This month's All About Me Mini Kit and digitals were perfect for this spread, documenting my current reading obsession. I began by printing digital papers from the kit to use for the page. I followed the sketch by trimming the book print paper and adding strips of it to the center of both pages. Next, I used a circle punch from my stash to cut out circles from the dot patterned paper, trimmed them in half, and stitched them to the page to create the scallop design featured in the sketch. I decided to flip the design and layered a few ephemera pieces from the digitals to replace the smaller photo in the sketch.

I layered a pocket card and a digital patterned paper to create layers behind my photo. The gorgeous florals from the kit were perfect for framing my picture. For the title, I stamped the word "FAVORITE" using the new Storytelling V2 All About Me Stamp and completed the title with Sadie Black Alphabet Puffy Stickers. I added a bit more stamping below the journaling with the Simple Words V5 All About Me Stamp. To complete the page, I added All About Me Word/Phrase stickers from the kit to both pages of the spread.

Sunday Sketch with Katarina

 

Hi CTK friends,

Katarina back with you, bringing you another Sunday Sketch inspiration. As always, we have a beautiful sketch that can be used as inspiration for any format of layout.

Here's the sketch:

I created a layout in my 6*8 Life Crafted Album and used the gorgeous Travelogue '23 Kit and the new Sadie Upper and Lower Alphabet Stamps. Let's have a look:

The sketch really inspired me a lot and I decided to follow it almost fully. The only problem was to keep so much clean space, with so many beautiful products at my desk.

For my background I used one of the Travelogue '23 digital papers and I used some more as layers under my two photos. For some added texture and for journaling purposes, I added one of the tags from the Travelogue '23 Ephemera.

I embellished my photos with some of the Tiny Words stickers and Circle Stickers from the Travelogue '23 Kit. They were a perfect addition to my hiking story.

Then I enjoyed some stamping. For my title, I combined the new Sadie Alphabet Upper and Lower Stamps. Next I used the Cravings Stamp to add some more stamping to fill in the space between my title and photos. To add some more interest, I used two colors of ink.

I found the "Let's Go Explore" sign die cut so perfect for this layout, that I just had to add it next to my title. If you look closer at the sketch, there are very subtle splatters in the top right side of the design. Here I decided to go for more stamping and used some of the tiny stamps from the Cravings Stamp and a subtle grey ink to add some words related to my story.

As a final touch, I added a bunch of CTK Jewel Enamel Dots in perfectly matching colors. I really love how my layout turned out, it is always so refreshing to use a sketch as inspiration for my projects. Will you try it?

3-to- Inspire with Nancy

 Hi there Citrus Twist fans, this is Nancy with the Saturday 3 to Inspire challenge. For my project I chose to focus on the beautiful new Gratitude stamp set and November ephemera.

This is a very clean and simple hybrid design and just my style. The background Field Notes paper is a digital that I printed out. Having a digital version of this paper makes it so easy to line up the Top 10 list. After printing the journaling, I added the stamped Gratitude title and "fall story" subtitle to the top of the page.

Next, I added a blue strip of Citrus Twist patterned paper . I created a cluster of ephemera and layered puffy sticker with the November release. In this 3 to Inspire post, I challenge you to:

1. Use a digital paper to create a hybrid page.

2. Stamp your title.

3. Create a cluster of flat and puffy embellishments.

I hope this page inspires you to create a meaningful list of gratitude with a little flair!

Sunday Sketch with Ashley Laura

 

Hey y'all, Ashley here. I am so excited to be sharing a Sunday Sketch with you all. 

Take a look at the sketch I have for this week:

I'm not great at following things exactly how they are and I normally love to add a little bit of my own touch to projects like these, but I loved this sketch so much that I wanted to get it as close to the original as possible. 

I started with choosing my photos. These pictures were taken at a Tea Party that my daughter was invited to for one of her friend's Birthdays. I thought they went perfectly with the scrapbook paper from the October add-on. 

I then built my layers, adding strips of paper behind one another and mounting embellishments on the left side of the photos.

I even used packaging as one of my layers, which I just love! Lastly, I added stitching across the top of ht page and even vertically down my embellishment clusters. 

I hope you all will find inspiration from this project and I can't wait to see if you try the Sunday Sketch this week!

Sunday Sketch with Marsha

Hey friends!  It's Marsha here with you today, and I'm happy to be sharing my take on this week's Sunday Sketch challenge.  Citrus Twist always has the best sketches and this one is no exception!  I love the little details included and enjoy altering them to fit my crafty style.

Here's my take on the sketch:

Instead of creating a 12x12 layout, I chose to convert the sketch and create a layout in my Life Crafted album.  One of my favorite details was the layered hearts. I followed this pretty closely and used the Capture the Moment digital cut file to cut out hearts from a patterned paper and some digital TN papers.  Next, I added stamping to the smallest heart with the Storytelling stamp and black ink.  I added machine stitching down the middle of the layered hearts and lifted up the edges for additional dimension.  I love how this heart embellishment turned out!  

I continued following the sketch and trimmed digital TN papers into banner shapes and used the Woodgrain Chipboard Alphabet Stickers and the Bright Pink Puffy Alphabet Stickers to create the title.

I layered more digital TN papers behind my photo and added a few of the One of a Kind Cardstock Tiny Word Stickers to the layout. 

In place of one of the photos included in the sketch, I used a die cut from the Summertime Florals Ephemera.  I also embellished the layout with the floral die cuts.

I stuck pretty closely with the sketch this week and love the results!

3-to-Inspire with Shannon

Hello there, friends! Shannon here with your 3-to-Inspire for the week. I love this challenge. Picking three things to focus on when I'm creating my layout makes it come together so much easier. It's such a great starting point! Let's get to the list:

1. Use an old photo

2. Use a sketch

3. Use multiple embellishments to make a title

And now let's look at the page I created using these prompts.

1. Use an old photo

I knew that I wanted to use the Travelogue products for this page so I started looking through my photos for one that hadn't been scrapbooked yet. This photo from a few years ago is one of my favorites. It was taken during my long scrapbook hiatus so I knew it wasn't documented anywhere. All that I had to do was pull it into my phone for a quick edit. Sometimes I'm hesitant to document older photos because the quality isn't as good as new photos. I'm really trying to get over that so hopefully this challenge will give you a push to do the same!

2. Use a sketch

I always find that sketches help flip my brain into creative mode. This is helpful when I want to scrapbook but my brain might be feeling a little fried. Or when I want to break out of my box a little. Did you know that there is a new sketch every Sunday on the Citrus Twist blog? You can find them all through the Sunday Sketch tag. I chose a sketch from May 2020 for this layout. I made several changes - there is only one photo, the journaling is in a different place, I made a cluster of stamps, chipboard stickers, and puffy stickers at the top, and my page is in a Life Crafted album. That's what I love about sketches. You can interpret them as literally or as freely as you want.

3. Use multiple embellishments to make a title

This part of the challenge was so fun! I gathered up some Travelogue ephemera and chipboard stickers that had words on them. From there, I decided what I wanted to use for my title. There are so many possible combinations! You could also add in some stamped phrases or words too.

Sunday Sketch with Marsha

Hey, friends!  Marsha here today with this week's Sunday Sketch Challenge.  I love using Citrus Twist Kits sketches because they always include such fun layers and details!

Here's my take on the sketch:

The sketch was designed for a 12x12 page, but I chose to create a layout in my Life Crafted Travel album.  I used the new Food Love Stamp, Travelogue Kit, From the Heart Add-on Kit, and the Real Life Puffy Stickers.  

I chose to flip the sketch 90 degrees counterclockwise, so the photos were on the left side of the layout. I layered a diagonal striped patterned paper behind my photos and used some digital patterned papers to create a tag and banner behind the photos.  Ephemera pieces and a puffy sticker from the Travelogue kit were perfect embellishments for the page.

I added some stamping using the Food Love stamp.  This is such a fun stamp set- perfect for all of your food documenting!  I also added a puffy heart sticker from the Real Life Puffy Stickers.

For the right side of the layout, I followed the sketch and added a thin strip of patterned paper to the edge of the page.  I created the title by stamping the words "Yes to" using the Food Love stamp and black ink.  To complete the title, I used the Explore Chipboard Alphabet Stickers.  I added an ephemera die-cut arrow from the Travelogue kit above the title and added my journaling in strips below the title.  To finish the layout, I stamped another phrase using the Food Love stamp onto a digital patterned paper, trimmed it out, and added it below the journaling.  

I love how this layout turned out using the sketch!

3-to-Inspire with Marsha

 

Hey friends!  Marsha here today, and I'm excited to be hosting this week's 3-to-Inspire challenge!  This challenge includes three fun prompts that are perfect for jumpstarting your creativity!  For my project, I created another travel layout in my Life Crafted album using the Travelogue Kit, Travelogue Stamp, and digitals, and the From the Heart Add-on Kit.

Here are the 3-to-Inspire prompts:

1.    Add stitching 

2.    Create a mixed title

3.    Include an interactive element

I started my layout by trimming a dot patterned paper from the Add-on kit to fit as a full page in the album.  I also trimmed a striped patterned paper from the same kit into three triangular pieces of varying sizes.  I absolutely love the colors in this striped paper and just had to use it on my layout!  Next, I did some machine stitching with black thread on two of the triangles for a bit of extra interest and texture.  I layered two of the triangles and adhered them and my photo to the page.

For the title, I trimmed an ephemera die cut word from the Travelogue kit in half so that it would fit on the page.  I like it even more trimmed in half than I did before!  I added the word "fun" using the Explore Pink/White Chipboard Alphabet Stickers and stamped below it with the Travelogue Stamp.  I love the way the title turned out using a mix of a die cut word, chipboard stickers, and stamping!

For the other side of the spread, I trimmed a piece of white cardstock to 5" x 8.25" to fit as a full page in the album.  I printed one of the Travelogue Digital Journal Cards at the regular size and printed three more to approximately 1.75" x 2.75" to hold extra photos and journaling.  I cut a slit in the larger journaling card so that the other cards could slide in and out.  I love this interactive element!  

I added some ephemera die cuts and puffy stickers from the Travelogue kit to embellish the layout.  To complete the page, I added the triangle stiched piece I created earlier to the corner to balance out the striped paper on the other side of the spread.
