Tuesday Tutorial: Faux Stitching with Stamps

Hello all! Wendy here to share up a Tuesday Tutorial using the wonderful Citrus Twist Kits stamps and 'stitching'.  Well, let's say, 'faux stitching'.

You can achieve the look of machine stitching or hand stitching with using the past August stamp sets.

Let's get started!

1. Start by using the stamps from the Citrus Twist Kits (CTK) August 2016 Pocket Life kit and any past CTK stamps that have similar designs.   As soon as I saw the stitched and zig zag lines stamps in the set, I knew I wanted to create a faux stitched effect on my layout.

2. Stamp around the border of your paper in repetition with the stitched lines stamp.  Then, switch it up and add the zig zag lines stamp for added interest along some of the stitched lines.

3. Use a black fine tip journaling pen to create some freehand stitching to mimic 'loose threads' along the stamped lines and zig zags.   Be careful not to overdo it ("less is more") for just a few random add-ins of the freehand stitching.

That's it, done!  Easy peasy, eh?

You can embellish the rest of your layout as you like with pattern papers, stamps, chipboard title work, more freehand stitching on some of the pattern papers to tie it all in together, ephemera, and stickers from the Citrus Twist Kits.

Also, I added a touch of hybrid scrapbooking with the digital elements (i.e. days of the week) overlay on my photo by using Photoshop.

**Bonus tutorial:  Also, I added in some handmade enamel dots by using the Nuvo Crystal Drops available over in the CTK shop.  Seriously, those drops are addictive!  I want ALL the 20+ colors!  Just a heads up...I'll have a quickie tutorial coming to my Instagram (@lifepapersoul).  I'll come back here and drop it in this post for how to add those to your project.

I had fun with this layout!

Let's see you give it a try with 'faux stitching' on your next project!

Hope you enjoyed my tutorial!

Summer memories

Hello!

It's Mira here again and I am bringing You another Pocket Inspiration where You'll see August Pocket Life and Sprinkles Kits in action!
There's plenty to share so I'll let the pictures speak for themselves, OK?

Don't You love documenting Your Summer adventures? I really really do! There's so many pictures to include in the album! So many great and sunny memories! I just love going back to those memories in the middle of winter!

Here are the details:

Again - a lot of Amy Tan stickers! They go perfectly with Dear Lizzy puffy stickers (PL Kit) and Fancy Pants Puffy Dot Stickers (from Sprinkles Kit), bringing a lot of energy to the pages! And their colors are amazingly juicy!

I made so many pages with those two August kits (didn't have a chance to photograph them all) still I have so many goodies left and ready to play with! I'm sure You'll agree with me that working with Citrus Twist Kits is pure pleasure!

Thank You for coming here today! Have a fantastic week!
ps. Are You ready for a September Kits reveal?

3-To-Inspire with Emma

Hi everyone!  Emma here with another 3-To-Inspire challenge (my favourite!).  This week I thought it might be fun to incorporate a colour challenge!

Often when I'm stuck coming up with an idea for a layout, I'll set myself a "colour challenge".   The easiest way to do this is hit up Pinterest and search on "colour palette" (or color palette, ha!) and scroll through.  I've created my own board where I pin combinations that tickle my fancy.  As I was looking through it last week I noticed I have a bit of a theme going on...

As you can see, clearly I like pinks and yellows. :)  With a dash of turquoise/blue/green/mint thrown in every now and then.  Just looking at this got my creative spark working!

I hope you'll join in with me this week using the following prompts:

1. Pick your 2 favouite colours, or a combination that you've found on Pinterest like above, and use them as much as possible on your page
2. Use a B&W photo
3. Have a white background (which will make the 2 colours you use on your page pop!)

Here's my page:

I went with using alot of the little embellishments from the kits and added them on top of the white Amy Tangerine die-cut from the Grace Box kit (all the heart eyes for those die-cuts, love them all!).  And fortunately this month's kits have alot of pink and yellow for me to pick from ;)

I had planned on sticking with the brighter/fuscia pinks but a couple of the "Girl" and "Hey Girl" stickers from the Embellishment Kit were a softer pink so I figured I'd have the pink section of the circle blend as it went around (soft, bright, soft) and the Dear Lizzy pieces were a perfect match for doing that!

I couldn't resist adding that unicorn sticker...for no reason other than I just had to use it on a page!  I'd been trying to sneak it onto all my layouts and nothing else had "fit" haha.

Now it's your turn! Use the three prompts to create your own projects and share them with us here in the gallery and/or our Facebook Forum.  I really can't wait to see your pages!

Thanks, Em xo
