NSD 2020

Good Morning everyone!
today we are celebrating all things Scrapbooking with a fun online crop.   We have designed a series of challenges that will inspire you and get you documenting your memories.
Our challenges will go live every 2.5 hours starting at 7:30 am EDT.   Each challenge will have a video inspiration, and a few more projects from our talented design team.  Here is the schedule and a few sneaks of what you can expect today:

Sunday Sketch With Theresa | Getaway

Hello Lovelies! Theresa here today with a Sunday Sketch layout for you! Have you seen the wonderful sketches and layouts the design team has been creating with them this month? This is my sketch I will be working with today, along with the Life Crafted Excursions kit for May and the Excursions stamp set.

This sketch is so versatile and I was immediately drawn to the triangles above the photo. What a great way to use my triangle punches! I pulled out the lovely patterned papers in the May Excursions kit and got busy.

Here is my layout I created.

I began my layout with plain white card stock and a bit of color splashes using some Tim Holtz Distress Paints in Abandoned Coral and Cracked Pistachio. I pulled colors from the paper triangles, such as the mint greens, pinks, and turquoise. 

Once the paint splashes were dry I added the solid card stock and my paper triangles to the page. These elements on the page instantly lead your eye right to the photo and add such color and texture to the page. I also added sewing machine stitching to these elements.

My photo was taken on a recent trip to the Great Smokey Mountains in Gatlinburg, TN. The photo is housed on a stack of patterned papers and I added die cut leaves in between those layers. Those leaves are part of the Free Spirit Digital Stamps, and I brought them into my Silhouette to use them as cut files.

I also added a die cut and one of the cork stickers to this cluster. I then tucked more patterned paper strips into the bottom card stock strip, just to add a bit more color to the bottom of the layout. For the left side of the photo I added more turquoise leaves, plus a label and a puffy sticker where the sketch called for the title.

I added a bit of stamping to my background, using the Life Crafted Excursions stamp set and the kit stamp set as well. This layout came together so easily using the Sunday Sketch!

Sunday Sketch with Trina + Emma

Hi CTK friends!  Trina and Emma on the blog today to share this weekend's Sunday Sketch.  First up lets have a look at our sketch:

Hello! It’s Trina here, together with Emma, sharing our takes on this week’s sketch. I made this page to fit in my 2018 6” x 8” PL album.

I used this month’s bonus cut files to make the white cardstock paper piece. I pulled both papers and embellishments from the December 2018 Pleasant Valley kits.

Here is me layout. I stayed pretty true to the sketch - as I usually do - and wanted this picture of my daughter to tell the story.

Here is a close up of the star cut file and my pattern paper layers. I love how the puffy stars fit perfectly over the star cutouts.

I love Paige Evan’s small, colorful puffy stickers. They work perfect for small scrapbook pages.

It will be fun to see how you use this month’s sketch!

Hello CTK friends!  I love this week's sketch; combines two of my favourite things - layers and stars!  I'm a sucker for anything star related :)  I used the December "Pleasant Valley"Main Kit for my page, and here's my take on this fun sketch:

I tried to stick close to the sketch the time around. I used the bonus cut file to cut my stars but instead of using the negative I stitched the cut stars onto the background pattern paper.

I absolutely love the alpha's included in the Main Kit this month - they are the perfect size!

Instead of using the paper strips at the top/bottom per the sketch I went with a full border all the way around to frame the page more (and used the same pattern paper to match in with my stars!).

I challenged myself to use the bakers twine on this page so I just wrapped it around some scrap strips of paper and popped one of the cardstock / puffy sticker hearts on top.  I loved how it worked out, so  I did another bigger one and added it underneath my title at the bottom of the page!  Adds a bit of fun dimension to the page :)

Underneath the title I added a cute stamp sentiment and my date on one of the cardstock stickers!

I really wanted to add a pop of gold on the page and  there is only one gold tag sticker at the right size, so of course I messed it up when I stamped on it (didn't press hard enough, boo!)...but no worries, I just stamped on another one, cut it out and stuck it ontop to hide my terrible stamping job.

To finish it off I added a couple more embellishments above my photo (die-cut and puffy sticker) and called it done!

TN Challenge with Sarah

Hi, everyone!  It's Sarah back today with another TN challenge.

Today's challenge is to use a rainbow or multi-colored color scheme.

The new "Sunshine in my Soul" kit has the most gorgeous colors in it, which makes it easy to create a rainbow color scheme in any of your projects.  I will admit that I typically stick with a 3 or 4 color palette, so this was a fun challenge for me too!  I love how this turned out, and this pop of color in my notebook makes me so happy.

If you're not used to using multiple colors in a layout, I recommend starting with a black and white photo.  Not only will your photo pop off the page since its the only neutral piece, it will also make it much easier to coordinate all of the other elements.

For the left side of my layout I used a paper from the Paige Taylor Evans "Whimsical" line as my background.  I cut the inside out of a couple of the frames using my exacto knife so I could bring a little pop of white to that size.  That white space also gave me some room to add my title.  I balanced this layout out by adding lots of color to the right side of my layout, while keeping the background white.  By keeping the background white, it allowed for the page to still be full without being overwhelmed.  To finish this layout off I added some embellishments here and there to make things even more fun and colorful.

I hope you have fun with today's TN challenge!  Don't be afraid to add a pop of color (or many pops of color in this case!) to your TN :)

3 To Inspire with Adele

Hey hey hey!!

Happy Saturday scrappy peeps! Hope you're all having a fab start to your weekend. I am up with a 3 to Inspire challenge today using the lovely November PL Kit.

This month, I challenge you to include:

1) An interesting way of journaling - whether it's the direction of your journaling, or what you journal onto;
2) Patterned paper; and
3) Puffy things!

I have also created a process video showing how I created my page from start to finish which I hope you will enjoy. :)

I had fun getting creative with my journaling this month, it's nice to change things up a little bit and try something quirky every now and then!

I love that the Citrus Twist PL Kits include patterned paper - I think it makes the kits so flexible and allow you to create your own "journaling cards" using the paper.

Even though there's always such a large selection of embellishments in the PL Kits, my heart always falls in love with anything puffy first!! I used a combo of the puffy alphas and puffy stickers on today's page

PL challenge with Alena

Alena here with  Pocket Life Challenge for you! Today I have a little idea to change  your Project Life. In my spread I used the wonderful November "Sunshine In My Soul" Pocket Life kit.

 In my first spreads of the Project Life I used layering. Later my style began to look like minimalism. I want to try again to make my cards detailed and interesting.

Use more  Die-Cuts, scraps of paper. My photos are very colorful, so it was difficult to pick up embellishment.  Also try not to use more than three colors.

 Add accents with double machine stitching.

So, my challenge for you:

 Use layering for your cards.
