Sunday Sketch with Patricia

Hello Beautiful CTK Friends!  Welcome to the first August Sunday Sketch.   Here is a look at the 12x12 sketch that I used to inspire my 6x8 layout using the August Scrapbooking Add-On Kit.

Citrus Twist, Life Crafted, Sunday Sketch

I used the Life Unscripted cut file to start my 6x8 layout on the left by flipping the hearts so that the flow would resemble the drops and motion at the bottom of the sketch.

I cut the Life Unscripted cut file separately.  First, with just the hearts for the background of my layout and backed with the book paper and then using the the rainbow pattern paper you see on the right for the title.  I made sure it cut where the rays would be seen in the title to add that affect.  Next, I used more of the book paper, transparent die cut, frame die cut, and pattern paper to create the blocks going across the page, but instead of copying the sketch, it inspired me to lay them in a layered look with just one photo adhered across the layers.

Once that design was in place, I started added more die cuts, stickers, and stamping to finish the page.

For the right side, I used the Page Protector #3, 4x6 + Journaling spot.  I trimmed that same pattern paper used from my cut out title on the left to help create balance between the sides.  Then just finished that top pocket with another photo and a few embellishments and stamping.  I used the new Stories stamp set for all of the stamping on this project.  So love the embellishments and stamps to create this light layered look for this pocket.  Those tiny stickers and the foam flower stickers are a must-have!  The L and the R foam alphas are from the Life Crafted August kit.  It helped to create just a pop of color.

To help the flow of colors and balance, I trimmed a solid piece of that same pattern paper I used for the title and top pocket to type my journaling to finish this project.

My new favorite kit!  Just amazing and I hope the kit as well as this new Sunday Sketch inspire you to take some time to create!

Let's Get Hybrid with Shannon

Hey there, crafty friends! Shannon here with a fun double-sided 6x8 hybrid spread. I absolutely love working in the hybrid format. It opens up a whole new world of opportunities! Did you know that Citrus Twist offers a variety of free digital files to subscribers each month? Cut files, bonus 3x4 cards, and a sheet of printable elements can all be found under Shop > Subscriber Digital Files. There are also more digital files that you can purchase and use over and over again. Let me show you how I used them on my spread.

I love the Night & Day Traveler's Notebook Basics Digital Papers. I opted to use one on the right side of my spread as a place for my photo and journaling. Since it's digital, I was able to type my journaling directly on the page before printing. I mentioned that it's a TN paper and this spread is 6x8. Working in Photoshop, I created a 6x8 rectangle and clipped the TN page to it. It cut off a little of the top and bottom but, as you can see, it didn't affect the overall design. To fill in the rest of the right page, I "cut" 3 of the Night & Day Digital Traveler's Notebook Papers into strips in Photoshop and lined them up along the right side of the TN Basic paper.

Next, I moved on to the left side of my spread. This side was so much fun to put together! I used a lot of April 2020 Printable Cut Apart Elements mixed with ephemera and chipboard that was included with the April 2020 Night & Day Life Crafted Kit. I lined up the elements before adhering anything. I wanted to make sure that I had a good spread of color across the page.

To make my spread of embellishments look more put together I paid close attention to lines. I use a ruler to line up the edges on the left and right sides. I also made sure the embellishments on the top and bottom touched the edges of the paper. It makes everything look more intentional. I tried to create a couple of visual triangles with chipboard pieces and then again with stars. Again, it adds cohesiveness to a splatter of embellishments.

My finishing touch was to add some stamps. I don't think a project of mine is ever complete without at least one stamp! I used all of the stamps available this month - April 2020 Life Crafted Traveler's Notebook Stamp, April 2020 This is Life AM/PM Stamp, and the stamp included in the April 2020 Night & Day Life Crafted Kit.

This was such a fun page to put together - and the majority of it is hybrid! I hope I've inspired you to dip your toe into the hybrid pool. I bet that you'll love the options it opens up to you. If you have questions about working in the hybrid format, give us a shout out on the CTK Fan Page on Facebook so we can help you out. I can't wait to see what you create!

"Yes" Scrapbook Layout with Sheree

Hi everyone,

It’s Sheree here with you today to share a layout I’ve created with the fabulous April 2020 Night & Day Life Crafted Kit!

When I first looked through the kit I was drawn to the cute bird and leaf die cuts and chose the dark blue patterned paper to go with them.

I chose white cardstock for the background of my 8.5” x 11” layout.  I printed out the digital version of the gridpaper in a larger size to use behind the photo.  The sun stamp from the April 2020 This is Life “AM/PM” Stamp set was stamped to the top right of the photo.  I though this stamp was perfect for this photo of my son out in the garden.

I added a die cut tab to the top of the photo which was stamped with the word “dreamer” from the April 2020 Life Crafted Traveler’s Notebook Stamp Set.  Machine stitching was also added for texture.

I layered the leaves, bird and heart chipboard piece in a cluster to the left of the photo along with one of the Embossed Faux Leather Stickers.  I used the puffy ‘yes’ word for the title and made my own date tag to hang from a paper clip at the top right of the photo.

I printed my journaling onto white cardstock and cut it to a simple tag shape, added machine stitching then used a die to cut a blue reinforcer piece for the hole of the tag.  Twine was attached the tag and I left the tails long to trail along underneath.  The ends were secured with a couple of staples.

To finish the page I added a strip of the dark blue patterned paper, some grid paper and a strip of green which was cut from the 3 x 8” bookmark in the kit. Machine stitching was also added.

Check out the video below to watch how I put it together...

I really love how this layout turned out using the Life Crafted kit!

Thanks so much for joining me on the blog today!  Enjoy your crafting!

Sheree x

3-to-inspire with Anna

Hi dear CTK friends!

Anna here with you today bringing you this week's 3-to-Inspire challenge. Actually it's one of my favourite challenges. This month's Life Crafted Kit, Here at my table, is amazing as always so easy going. Let's have a look at the prompts I've choosen.

  1. Use your CTK stamps, physical or digital.
  2. Use more than three patterned papers.
  3. Use a b&w photo.

With these prompts (and a few more goodies) my 12x12 layout came up so easily and I had so much fun while creating.
Now it's your turn to dig into your kit's and play along with us in this challenge.

Here's what I came up with, enjoy!

I've used the circle stamp and the coffee mug from this months Add On stamp set, This Is Life "Food Stories Stamp". Then I used a circle punch to cut out my stamped images.

I used not less then five different patterned papers for my page. Three for my circles, one for backing my photo and also one (I used the digital paper and printed it out in A4) for the edges of my background.

And I did edit my photo in b&w. Actually I like b&w pics a lot since then you are not limited to the colors on your photo.

And there you have it!
Hope you have got some inspiration here today! Now it's your turn to dig into you scrappy things and start creating. I can't wait to see what you create using these three prompts. Don't forget to share with us on Instagram @citrustwistkits #citrustwistkits and/or our CTK Fan Page on Facebook.

Until next time! Anna xo
