Simple Strategies with Tanya

Hello and happy Monday! It´s Tanya here today to show you a simple strategy post using gorgeous June Seriously Happy Add-On Kit. Well, I have a simple strategy tip which always works for me - making you own pattern background.

I decided to use white textured cardstock from the kit as a background
and add cut triangles to make a pattern.

After gluing all triangles I added some yellow and green watercolour to make it look more bright and fresh.

I used the same strategy to make my card - triangles plus watercolour.

I made four marks with a pencil in a place where I'm going to glue the frame before apply the watercolour.

Simple Strategies with Gina

Hello and welcome to another simple strategies post..today I wanted to share a simple idea of using just a couple of strips of patterned paper as a top and bottom border. On this page, I've used the two South of the Market papers found in the Beautiful Life main kit. I've hand-cut a 12" strip from each sheet, then cut in half, alternating the patterns and attaching then with a couple of tiny fasteners. This idea would be perfect for using your 6x6 papers or even just one sheet of double sided patterned paper..

For the rest of the page I've added some gauze and white cotton strands for texture, a little misting/watercolour effect, sequins, enamel dots, washi, flair and wood chip stars...

To finish, I've machine stitched through the title and layered paper embellishment and added stamping

Memories packed mini album with Kasia

Hello and happy Monday! Kasia here today with a cute mini album made with fresh and shiny June kits! For my mini I combined the main June kit and the embellishment add on- no surprise that they work great together! What is my mini about? Well it collects memories from a little weekend trip we had with my boyfriend at the beginning of May and I hope it'll inspire you to document your summer trips too!

Kasia mini 1

The album is really chunky and memories packed! We had a great trip which combined some sightseeing and a run event and I wanted to include both of these adventures in my mini. Get ready for some photos! :)

I still have to add some journaling to the pages of my book (you see the 2 pages with washi tape and "K" and "F" letters- the journaling will go there) and one missing photograph but other than that the book is finished.

For today's Simple Strategies part I thought I could share with you my favorite idea to include the real life memorabilias into to the album. When we go somewhere we always collect lots of brochures, tickets and other souvenirs which I rather include in my projects than let them hang around our home. This time I simply cropped the extra stuff to the size of the album and treated the brochures like patterned paper. It's great way to add more interesting details to your mini album, layout or PL spread and also makes your projects super unique! Here are the examples from my mini book:

It's always fun to look through memories captured in the mini albums so I hope you will find some time to create your owns this summer! Have a great week!

jenchapin ctk june
Hello and happy Monday to you! Jen here and today I'm going to show you my simple strategy for a Pocket Life style scrapbook page. I started with my photo in the middle and built from there, using 3x4 cards from the June PL kit. I also used scraps from the 6x6 pad that comes in the PL kit as well as some embellishments from the main and add-on kits.

Simple Strategies - Creative Titlework

Hello and welcome on Monday with a "Simple Strategies" post. Mostly journaling is a huge part on our layouts and it´s great to capture all things happened, but I also love doing simple pages. On the day I received the kit I had a MONSTER ear worm with the song "It´s a beautiful life" from Michael Buble. So it´s a kind of "scrapping the music" with a special title work.....
This American Crafts chipboard kork thickers are simply adorable but I like to mix up different fonts.  It makes simple pages a little bit more interesting, I think. The word "beautiful" is made with the Silhouette Cameo and white cardstock. To complete the title work I add a piece of the paper straw and those golden heart rub-ons.

Thank you so much for visiting today. See you tomorrow for a layout tutorial...

Simple strategies with Jennifer + a free cut file!

jenchapin_may_stars (6)
Hey there! Jennifer here and today I'm sharing a layout with the May scrapbook kit, as well as a free cut file! My simple strategy tip is to create a repetitive element. On this page, I cut out quite a few stars with my Cameo, then added my photo to the bottom left corner and embellished away.

jenchapin_may_stars (5)
To attach my stars, I used adhesive and staples.

jenchapin_may_stars (4)
I also took advantage of the negative space for some embellishing.

The wood buttons in this month's add-on were also perfect for this page! If you'd like to download this star cut file, click HERE.

Simple Strategies- adding texture to your layouts

Hello! Kasia here today with a layout made completely with this month's main kit. When I looked through the kits items I knew they will allow me to create almost a monochromatic layout- I love making these! I thought it would be also a fun excuse to talk a bit about adding texture to your pages- when you cut on the colors textures pop and allow you to highligth details of your work!

PEACEFUL CTK May main kit Kasia

Adding textures will make your pages look more dimensional. The easiest way to do it is through playing with layers. Try to use different materials- patterned paper, vellum, book pages, cardboard or stickers- they are all paper but have different quality so they will add lots of beautiful detail to your layout.

Another way to add texture is using medias. Try to start with simple white gesso or acrylic paint- you can paint with them, smudge over the layers on your page, stamp the pattern you want- the thicker the paint the more texture will be visible on your finished project.

Dont limit yourself with paper and medias- you can grab some other materials which will build texture look- think of small enamel dots, thickers, cut files or fabric- all  or some of them layered on the page will make a beautiful, textured details for your layout!

I hope you enjoyed these tips and will try with playing with textures on your projects! Have a fun day!

Simple Strategies with Nina

Hello and a HAPPY easter monday to everyone. It´s Nina here today to show you a simple strategy post using the Citrus Twist April Kit plus Embellishment Kit along with watercolors. This time I´m so in love with spring and bright colors, especially yellow is one of my favorite. Therefore I decided to make a page with a yellow focus.
The background is one of the easiest things ever. The only thing you need is the white cardstock (included in the kit) and yellow watercolors. I painted a strip with the yellow color using a lot of water and tipped the cardstock up to let the color flow down. After drying the page is ready for the next step.
For the picture I used one of the frames and set it in the right size behind it. The Amy Tangerine "today tag" fits beautiful in the yellow color scheme.  The butterflies are made with the Big Shot die using white cardstock and the transparency sheet. I layered both cuts together and sewed right in the middle.
The flowers are stamped with black ink and the April "Being Me" Stamp Add On.

Thank you so much for visiting today. Have a great week everyone....
