Saturday Inspiration With Sandy

For me this month is all about the pattern papers. I love the versatile selection Trina put into the June Beautiful Life Main Kit, Going Places Pattern Paper Kit and Seriously Happy Add-On Kit. I used a floral on each of my layout, pairing them with neutrals and smaller prints like the diamond or the arrow to get a different feel for each page. This first one about a local musical production is all calm and serene with it's blue-green colour palette.

Next pairing gold polka dots, toned down a ted with a vellum overlay from my stash, with black and white for a bold look. The design relies on a mixture of fonts from the oversized title to the scripted journal card and the tiny typewritten phrases - created using both the Main Kit stamp and the June Bring It On Stamp.

Finally this more funky page about my father's birthday present where I paired a neon blue and pink floral with Pantone's color of the year - Radiant Orchid. The look is very graphic with that big photo and headline style journaling.

Hope you enjoy scrapping with your June kits as much as I did. Happy Summer everyone !

6 x 6 Paper Play

Hello, Angie here to share a fun, simple layout with you.  I created this layout using the 6x6 paper pad that came in your PL Kit.  I also used the Embellie Kit and a few embellishments from the Main kit.  The background paper is from the paper add-on kit.

I simply cut stripes of paper and layed them down.  I used one of the over lays from the PL kit over my photo.  I then added some cute embellishments here and there, and I'm done.  So easy, so cute!

Here is a close up.  The thickers are from the main kit and the arrow pieces and stars are from the Embellie add-on.

Thanks for stopping!  Can't wait to see what you create using your 6x6 paper pad.

Tuesday Tutorial with Jen Chapin

jenchapin tut june
Hi there! Today I'm sharing a quick Silhouette tutorial with you all for making your own backgrounds.  For this layout, I wanted to make a circle grid design and I will show you how to do that with your Silhouette Software.

First, draw a circle. Pick the elliptical icon on the left side of your screen. If you hold your shift key down while dragging, it will be a perfect circle. I sized mine about 2.5"

Next you will want to repeat your design. At the top of the screen pick Object > Replicate > Fill Page.

Now your design is complete! If you don't get enough circles, go ahead and pick 'Undo' and resize your shape a little smaller and try again.

After I adhered my die cut cardstock to the background of the layout, I used my 2" circle punch to embellish each space. jenchapin tutorial june ctk (3)
I used the add-on stamp here which was perfect for this photo!
jenchapin tutorial june ctk (4) The June icon was perfect for punching out of one of the cards from the Pocket Life kit. jenchapin tutorial june ctk (5) Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I hope you'll try this technique soon! Let me know in the comments if you have an questions!

Simple Strategies with Gina

Hello and welcome to another simple strategies post..today I wanted to share a simple idea of using just a couple of strips of patterned paper as a top and bottom border. On this page, I've used the two South of the Market papers found in the Beautiful Life main kit. I've hand-cut a 12" strip from each sheet, then cut in half, alternating the patterns and attaching then with a couple of tiny fasteners. This idea would be perfect for using your 6x6 papers or even just one sheet of double sided patterned paper..

For the rest of the page I've added some gauze and white cotton strands for texture, a little misting/watercolour effect, sequins, enamel dots, washi, flair and wood chip stars...

To finish, I've machine stitched through the title and layered paper embellishment and added stamping

Playing with Pocket Life with April

Hi everyone! I'm excited to share a few catch-up weeks in my Pocket Life album with you!

For anyone who follows me on other social media outlets (mainly Instagram and my blog), you may have noticed I was MIA for awhile.  And I think my Pocket Life Week 12 will help provide an answer for that!  It was a big week for me.  To start the week, I found out that my closest girl cousin was 12 weeks pregnant!  And then, to end the week, I found out that I WAS PREGNANT! :)

The left side of my spread documents the night my cousin told me she was preggo.  We went to a paint and wine event and she didn't drink with me which I thought was weird!  Later in the evening, I got my answer why.. she was pregnant!  And yep, I totally took a photo of her bump!

DSCN4617_800

The right side of my spread documents a few big things, but most importantly, the day I took the pregnancy test!  I wasn't sure how I wanted to document my pregnancy.  Should I put it in my PL or not?  I eventually decided that I should.. all my appts that I've been to have been the highlights of my weeks, so how could I not include them?  But on top of documenting them in my PL, I also decided that I would create a separate pregnancy album as well and document all the little details of my pregnancy journey.  (Yes - I'm totally just adding yet another project to my to-do list! :P)

The transparency journaling cards that were included in the PL kit were the perfect addition to the photo!

I wanted to share the other spreads I created using the June PL and PL Embellie Kits since I have been so behind on PL and because they had other pregnancy related events.

I skipped Week 13 because it was pretty uneventful.  I have one layout that I created to represent week 13 and you can find that here

Week 14 marked our first OBGYN appt where my doctor confirmed our pregnancy with an ultrasound.  It really didn't show much since our little peanut was super tiny, but we did get to see a little flutter of a heartbeat on the screen.  At this point, I was measured to be 5.5 weeks.

Week 15 and 16 were combined into one because they were the weeks that I was in Japan.  The events that are documented here happened in the weekend we had arrived back home from our trip.

DSCN4628_800

We had a follow up OBGYN appt the morning after we arrived from our trip.  Our doctor did another ultrasound and we were surprised to see how big our peanut had grown in just a couple of weeks!  We also got to hear it's heartbeat!  Seriously, what an amazing experience!!!

DSCN4629_800

That's it for my catch up spreads.  I'm pretty much up to date now and as of the date this goes live, I will be 17 weeks into my pregnancy.  My first trimester wasn't too bad, I just had pretty bad fatigue.  I've since gotten my energy back being in my second trimester, so I'm trying to stay on top of PL and just all my projects in general!

For those who stuck around to read through this loooong post, thank you!  Have a great day!

Sunday Sketch with Melissa

Hello, everyone! Melissa here with you today, and I have another one of Kasia's fantastic sketches for our regular Sunday Sketch challenge post!

I quite often use two photos on my layouts, and sometimes I feel like I get stuck in a rut with ways to arrange the photos and the papers and elements around them. Having a sketch to work from helps me to shake things up, and I loved how the offset layers in this arrangement added something just a little bit different, but still balanced, to the page.

All of the supplies for this layout came from the main kit, and I loved all of the "star" themed items this month- especially the exclusive wood veneers!

Saturday Inspiration with Gina

Hi everyone, I'm here to share a couple of pages with you, created with the gorgeous 'Beautiful Life' main kit and a couple of items from the 'Day Tripping' embellishment kit. The main floral paper used here, made me think of vintage florals and was perfect for this funny pic of my daughter and her friend trying on what they call "granny florals" (or something your grandmother would wear) then taking selfies in the changeroom.. I've added some patterned paper squares down the side (after scraping a little white gesso over to soften the colours) then machine stitched in plain and zigzag for a patchwork effect..

IMG_1493_3

along with a couple of handcut stars, journaling, flair and chipboard arrow..

IMG_1473_3

to finish, I've added a few Studio Calico chipboard stars and stamping using the main kit stamp and "Bring it On" stamp add-on

IMG_1474_3

I've kept this layout quite simple, leaving quite a lot of white space, because I wanted to show off this beautiful white woodgrain cardstock, which has such great texture.. I really like mixture of white and cream together, along with mint, woodgrain and yellow. I've added a few paper layers behind the gauze and doily. A little machine stitching helps to hold it all down.

I hope you're enjoying your kits as much as I am..happy scrapping!

pocket life friday with jen

Happy Friday all! I'm thrilled to be sharing my Week 20 pages today using the June Pocket Life and PL Embellishment kits. The colors are so fresh and fun this month.

JenB_JunePL_7
I'm still crazy in love with circles as a design element, and punched out five for just my date card alone, making use of several favorite patterns from the South of Market 6x6. Another element I carried through this spread? The fun little tabs from the Teresa Collins stickers sheet.

JenB_JunePL_8
Our impromptu trip to a local farm this week was a complete coincidence but, the paper pad sure helped to document the experience. I use a circle from the cow print in my date card and the "local fresh" piece to accent my journaling about the visit.

JenB_JunePL_9
This week came with a lot of photo ops and it was tough to narrow down. Instead of using several slots for journaling, I loaded up on the photos and made this embellished filler card. I punched a notch in the top and slipped my extra writing behind. Super simple! ("Us 5" stickers from the May PL kit)

JenB_JunePL_10
About those extra pics? This was one I really wanted to include but, wasn't sure how it would fit. A little trimming made it the perfect size to add to the top of one of the exclusive PL cards this month. The original saying was "Play All Day."

Be Inspired With Sandy

Today I'm taking inspiration from product styling photos I see on pinterest and applying the ideas of arranging a collection of things to my layout. Those things are the Crate Paper chipboard pieces from June's Day Tripping Embellishment Kit. With a wide range of shapes and sizes to chose from, I let a limited blue-green colour palette guide my choice of which chipboards to use. Once I'm sure of the position of bigger items, I fill in the gaps with little embellishments like chipboard and resin stars and stamped words.
