Sunday Sketch with Shu-Wen

Hi everyone!

It's Shu-Wen here, sharing a spread in my 6x8 "Me, Myself and I" Life Crafted Album that I made using today's sketch, documenting my go-to hair style. Here's the sketch that I used for my layout:

I followed this sketch pretty closely for my layout, as the proportions are sized perfectly for a 6x8 page! For the layers of patterned paper, I used pieces from the new Flea Market Findings 2 Life-Crafted Kit; I especially love how the bottom collage patterned paper I used as my base has references to hair styles, making it the perfect background for my layout! To make the individual pieces of patterned paper stand out a bit more from one another, I used my Paper Distresser to rough up the edges a bit. I also added some staples with my Tiny Attacher to add a bit of interest and texture to my page. For my photo, I took a picture of my hair from behind, carefully trimmed the photo to get rid of the background in my photo, then mounted it onto another piece of patterned paper from the Flea Market Findings kit.

To embellish my page, I added a floral die-cut ephemera piece from the Flea Market Findings kit, a few of the puffy stickers from the kit (including one that I stapled to the page for added texture), and scattered a few pink enamel dots to bring out the pinks in my embellishments. For my journaling, I cut one of the 3x4 journaling cards from the kit in half and added my typed journaling using some clear sticker paper. I distressed the edges of this journaling card as well to match the rest of the layered papers on my layout.

For the top of my layout, I used the Bright Pink Puffy Alphabet Stickers in my favorite sticker font to spell out my title "My Go-To Hair" in a curve above the circle patterned paper that I cut out using my electronic cutting machine. Because the alphabet sticker set didn't come with a hyphen, I cut apart one of the letter Z's to use as a dash (we never use up those letter Z's anyways, right?). I love that the bright pink stands out boldly across the more neutral tones of the patterned papers I used in my page, and I really like how the curved alphabet looks over the background collage patterned paper. I also added a puffy sticker that says "Beauty" from the puffy sticker sheet along the left edge of my photo to emphasize the vertical lines going on in the strips of patterned papers.

Here's a look at how my layout turned out compared to the original sketch! I feel like I say this every time I do a sketch challenge, but I love how effortlessly I was able to put together this page using the sketch!

I also love how the Flea Market Findings kit has some papers and embellishments that are neutral enough to go with photos from any occasion, with some pops of color to brighten up any layout! 3-TO-INSPIRE WITH LORILEI

Hello! Lorilei here with my first design team post! Today I'm bringing you some inspiration using the beautiful new Flea Market Findings v2 kit and the gorgeous Penelope Alphabet Stamp.

Here are my three prompts to inspire you:

1. Use a die-cut or chipboard as a story jump off point.
2. Use a vertical title.
3. Use at a full size photo.

Here is my project using the prompts!

For prompt one, I chose the super cute coffee chipboard circle as the jumping off point for my story. If you don't have a specific photo or story in mind, letting the products in the kit lead the way can be a fun challenge!

Prompt two, always a favourite of mine are full page photos! I used a photo of a great cup of coffee on the left side of the page and my chipboard fit perfectly on the cup and went with the red band!

Prompt three, a vertical title - I used the gorgeous Penelope Alphabet stamp to add my simple title! It adds such great impact! The Penelope stamp is perfect for vertical titles with the wider letters!

I have added another example of using prompt 1 & 2 below! I chose the orange drink chipboard and used the Spencer Alphabet Stamp for the title! Simple and quick!

I hope you choose to use all the prompts or just one! Have a great weekend and happy scrapping!

Sunday Sketch with Patricia

Hello CTK Friends!  I'm excited to be sharing a new Sunday Sketch and inspiration with you today using the 49 and Market 6x8 Add-On Kit and bits of the new Flea Market 2 kit.

I used the inspiration for a 6x8 layout with the new Summer Screens cut file.  I just turned the cut file upside down and used it directly onto top of pattern paper from the 49 and Market 6x8 kit.

I fit the main photo behind the sun of the cut file and then edited the other photo into a circle to detail cut out.  The other circle image is a sticker from our visit to the museum.  Similar to the sketch, I used flowers from Flea Market 2 to cluster around photos.  The self-adhesive lace ribbon is from the Flea Market 2 kit as well and is a great accent as well as border along the right edge.

For the right side, I used a journaling card from Flea Market 2, added a stamped image from the new Tiny Words Explore stamp to finish.

Beautiful sketch!  I love the vertical lines, the circles and the clusters.  Mix it up like I did by moving the clusters and circles to different areas, use cut files, or even turn it and make it horizontal.  Hope you have fun with it!

3-TO-INSPIRE WITH KATARINA

Hey scrappy friends!

Hope you're having a wonderful weekend with lots of time for crafting. Today I'm bringing you some inspiration using the beautiful new Flea Market Findings v2 kit and some of my favorite Citrus Twist alphabet stamps

Here are my three prompts to inspire you:

1. Use circles or other geometrical shapes in a vertical column.

2. Use a piece of ribbon, lace or twine.

3. Use at least two types of alphabet stamps for your title.

And here's my project for today. I created a layout in my Sea Glass 6x8 Life Crafted Album.

I loved how the grey patterned paper from the July Kit looked with the photo of my son with pink peonies so I went with it for my background together with the green floral paper. I printed and cut my photo as a circle and incorporated it in a vertical column of circles using some of the Flea Market Findings v2 Chipboard Stickers, Die Cuts and Puffy Stickers. I also used the self-adhesive lace from the July Kit to ground my photo.

The beautiful flower die cuts were totally made for this photo! I used a bunch of them to frame it from one side adding one of the yellow Tiny Word Stickers.

To balance my layout, I decided to add my title to the lower left side. I used one of the puffy stickers and a combination of my favorite Bailey and Harper Alphabet stamps. As a finishing touch I scattered the Enamel Dots from the kit here and there and called my layout done.

I really love the variety of products that I found in the Flea Market Findings v2 kit. So much to choose from! I hope you also feel inspired by the kit as well as by my project and that my prompts challenge you to create something beautiful.

Thanks for stopping by, friends!

MEET OUR JULY 2022 GUEST DESIGNER - JESSICA NICOLAS

Hello there!

We are so excited to welcome our July 2022 Guest Designer to our blog.   She is an amazing designer who shares her Faith through paper and  embellishments.   Let's give Jessica Nicolas a warm welcome to our blog and Design Team for this month.

Hi darlings! I’m so excited to be guest designing for the month of July. I am a Dominican-American who is a wife and mom of three. I love to read, craft, bible journal and document our family adventures

.

We ask Jessica a few questions that will get to know her better:

Q&A with Jessica

  • When did you start journaling?

Started bible journaling 5 years ago after finding out I could combine my love of crafting with my passion for the Word of God. It has become a way to use my creative side to document what I study.

  • What is something most people would not know about you?

My favorite job was being a gift wrapper at Macys. The Christmas season was the best and it’s how I know almost every Christmas song by heart.

  • What are the 3 scrapbooking products you can’t live without?

Stamps, Tim Holtz Distress Oxides and all the alphas!

  • What do you love about the July kit- FLEA MARKET FINDINGS v2?

The variety in the die cuts is definitely my favorite. So many pieces to layer and tuck that I know will really make my projects pop!

  • Finish this sentence “If you could see my scrapbooking space now . . . “You’d wonder how many stamps and inks a girl needs! Haha”

Bible Journaling Inspiration w/ Flea Market Findings 2

Hi darlings! I’m so excited to join the Citrus Twist team as a Guest Designer for the month of July. Here is how my first project in my bible turned out:

I’m starting off the month using the Flea Market Findings 2 kit in my bible. I love using different products to journal my faith, and paper products like this July kit makes it so easy. In this project I mainly used the die cuts, a journaling card and the enamel dots to compliment.

First I shifted through the paper packs and die cuts and after falling in love with the bird and florals I chose pieces that would coordinate. Then I arranged these on my bible page to get a feel for where these pieces would go.

I knew I wanted a card to add some journaling so I went through the 3x4 cards that would fit perfectly in my margin and decided on the “recorded” one. I then layered over and under the card with a pink doily and other die cuts in various pinks and mints. After writing my reflection on the reading I added a yellow and pink label to stamp my date.

Luke 12:22-38 speaks about not worrying about tomorrow because the Lord will care and provide. So I thought the sentiment “every day has it’s own story” was fitting. I used the puffy words “you are so important” to symbolize God’s care.

For the top of my page I usually add a tab and the green label die cut was perfect for that. I also used the “So Loved” ticket to serve as a title for my page, then sprinkled some enamel dots to finish it off.
