Life Crafted Inspiration with Ingunn

My favorite project for 6x8 albums? Ongoing collections of photos and stories about each of my daughters. I'm not pressuring myself to capture every little thing they do in their lives or to keep it chronological, I simply add to it whenever inspiration hits.

In this instance, inspiration hit in the form of that adorable chipboard sticker with the cozy reading nook chair from the Crave mini kit. It immediately made me think of how my oldest daughter loves to curl up in one particular chair in our living room after school, to read and cuddle our dog.

I've made several pages about her love of reading, but the "need more days like this" sentiment made me angle this differently - the days she has downtime like this to recharge after school are definitely the best days. I think this is because she's an introvert, like me!

I didn't realize I was an introvert until I was around 30, and before that, I thought I was just weird for getting so exhausted after being social. I want my kid to know that it's definitely not weird, and to have a toolbox of things that will make her life easier and more pleasant - like the fact that her instinct to disappear into a book after being around loud kids for hours is the perfect way to recharge! I added the "go with your gut" chipboard too, and then three little puffy starbursts from the Travelogue kit for good measure. I also put some patterned paper from the Flea Market Findings collection to keep my page from looking too naked.

I hope you've all had a great week and that you'll have the chance to recharge in the way that soothes your soul!

Sunday Sketch with Shu-Wen

Hi everyone!

It's Shu-Wen here, sharing a spread in my Life Crafted Album that I made using today's sketch! This one is documenting celebrating Mother's Day and my sister's birthday last week (we decided to celebrate a bit early because I wasn't going to be in town this weekend).

Here's the sketch that I used to create my layout:

I decided to adapt the sketch into the left page of my layout, with only one major difference: I decided to make the bottom left photo a landscape-oriented one instead of a portrait-oriented one because most of the photos I took that day were landscape-oriented.

For the backgrounds of my page, I used the dark blue floral background and the ledger paper from the Life Crafted "Crave" Traveler's Notebook Digital Papers. I opted for to use some vellum for the translucent layers of rectangles in the background. For the embellishments, I picked out one of the chipboard stickers from the Citrus Twist "Crave" Chipboard Stickers and one of the puffy stickers from the Citrus Twist "Crave" Puffy Stickers. And for my title, I used some scripty words from the Citrus Twist Life Crafted "Crave" Die Cut Ephemera Pack.

One other difference between the sketch and my layout was that I made my photo mats into interactive flips and flaps to hold more photos (11 in total!). I love the challenge of turning a flat sketch into a functioning interactive page to include lots of hidden surprises like these additional photos!

For the right page in my layout, I used the ledger patterned paper in the digital patterned papers and added some journaling using Microsoft Word to the top ledger portion before printing it out. I kept the page relatively simple by only adding one chipboard sticker to the empty blue ticket along the bottom of the page; I felt that the left page was busy enough as is with the floral background paper and all the photos flaps, so I didn't want the right page to be too cluttered!

During Ettiene's Facebook Live on the Citrus Twist Kits Facebook Group yesterday for International Scrapbook Day, we were talking about how much we love using sketches because they challenge us to use techniques outside our comfort zone, or remind us of techniques or materials that we haven't used for a while. I love today's sketch for that same reason: I was able to pull out some scraps of vellum that I've had lying around for a while to add an interesting texture to my page!

You can check out the full process video for this spread up on my YouTube channel!

I love the new "Crave" kit from Citrus Twist Kits for documenting all sorts of things, from actual things (or foods) that I'm craving, to capturing special moments like this day of celebration with my family. Make sure to check out the "Crave" Mini Kit for most of the items I used in my layout today, bundled together at a discounted price!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Life Crafted Inspiration with Aimee

Hello friends, it's Aimee here sharing some Friday Life Crafted inspiration! I created a fun spread in my Life Crafted Album using the new Crave Mini Kit and pieces from the Maggie Holmes Round Up Add-On Kit. Let's take a look!

Keeping to the May theme of cravings, this layout is all about what I crave most lately — alone time! Sometimes simply going for a drive or to run an errand by myself can be a total mood booster and just what I need to refocus and recharge. Also, may I just say that sometimes sitting in the drive way for a long moment before going inside is self care? If you know, you know!

To start off this layout I grabbed a neutral piece of patterned paper from my stash of Citrus Twist goodies, I believe this one came from the Little Things Paper Stack, then I layered vellum over top and some kraft paper too for a more organic feel. I used florals from the Maggie Holmes Round Trip Icon Ephemera pack to accentuate my photo and added a simply statement — "you deserve this".

For my title that would sit on the page opposite I extended that same neutral paper and floral for cohesion. I selected these scripty words from the Crave Die Cut Ephemera pack and popped one of them up on foam dots for added interest— how perfect? I tucked in a small tag found in the Travelouge Kit that I could write my private journaling on and conceal behind the rest of the layers. I also love how the tag plays off of the kraft paper I used on the left.

I finished off with a healthy splattering of black acrylic paint just for fun! There you have it! What's your mood booster? I challenge you to create a page about it and make sure to tag Citrus Twist Kits on Instagram so we can all check it out! Happy crafting!

Affectionately,

Sunday Sketch with Kira

Hey there!  It's Kira and I am back with another Sunday Sketch using the May Craving kit.  First, here's a look at the sketch I will be using today:

And here's a look at my take on the sketch:

My family and I recently took a road trip to Las Cruces, NM.  My late father-in-law went to school here and my husband was looking for a way to connect with some of the memories he had when he was a child.  So, it seemed only natural that we visit my father-in-law's favorite restaurant while we were in town.  Since the sketch included a single landscape photo, and I usually only take portrait style, I decided to print out a larger photo of my husband and two smaller photos of our children.

The colors on my husband's shirt worked well with the kit colors, but my children's clothing did not, so I decided to print their photos in black and white.  I decided to keep one side of the layout with a white background and the opposite using some of the papers from the kit.

But once I started placing my photo and embellishments on the white background, it felt a little flat to me.  Which gave me the idea to add fork cut files to my white background and stitch over the top of them.  This gave just enough texture and interest to not feel so boring.

I typed up my journaling on one of the other digital papers (which I turned the opacity up on, so you might notice the color is a little more subtle than it looks in the shop).  I cut the journaling out, roughed up the edges and added a little stitching for texture.

I felt like the right side was missing some white, so I brought in one of the forks to add just a little pop of the white.  I finished off the whole layout with die cuts, chipboard stickers and puffy stickers from the May kit.  And done!

Thanks for stopping by!  I can't wait to see how you use this week's sketch!

xo, Kira

3-to-Inspire with Shu-Wen

Hey everyone!

It's Shu-Wen here, sharing a spread I created in my Life Crafted Album documenting our recent travels to Seattle and Portland! This spread features elements from the new Travelogue Life Crafted Kit, including the journaling cards, puffy stickers, tiny word stickers, chipboard stickers, a cut file, a couple of the digital journaling cards, and one of the digital TN patterned papers! There were a lot of goodies in this release, and I was so excited they came out just in time for me to document my trip!

Here's a photo of my layout for today:

I took this week's 3-to-Inspire a bit literally and used elements in groups of 3 in my layout. You'll see what I mean in the next few photos. ;)

This layout consists of 3 pages:

1) "The Ultimate Donut SHOWDOWN!"
I decided to stamp my title using the Harper Alphabet Stamp Set because I needed a lot of letters for this one, and I didn't want to use up all of my precious puffy alphabet stickers on one page! Beneath my title, I placed three 3x4 things: 2 journaling cards and 1 photo layered on top of one another. Then, I embellished the cluster with three embellishments (two chipboard stickers and a puffy sticker). I finished off the bottom of my page with some journaling about our hunt for the best donuts in Portland!

2) Polaroid Cut File Insert
For the second "page" of my layout, I cut out the Polaroid / Instax cut file from this month's release twice. Then, I backed the front side with three photos, one for each of the main donut places we visited on our trip. Next, I backed the back side with three more photos, these ones taken of the donut displays in each of the main donut places we visited. For embellishments, I backed the heart cut-out in the middle frame with some woodgrain patterned paper from the kit, and decorated the front and back sides with a total of three tiny word stickers.

Here's a photo of the back side of the cut file page:

3) "... and the winner is..."
I printed one of the digital TN papers as a full sized 8.5x11" piece of paper, then used that pattern to make an envelope sized perfectly for some 4x6 cards. I mounted this envelope towards the top part of my third page and stamped my finishing title on the bottom of the page, again using the Harper Alphabet Stamp Set. Inside the envelope, I tucked in three bits of ephemera that we collected on our donut tour, three photos from my favorite donut place this trip, and three journaling cards documenting our donut adventures. To hold the envelope shut, I placed a thin magnet on the body of the envelope, covering it up with one of the ephemera pieces from the kit, and another thin magnet on the flap of the envelope, covering that one up with one of the puffy stickers (I made sure to use my anti-static powder tool to "unstick" any parts of the puffy sticker that were hanging over the edge of my envelope flap).

And here's a photo of the inserts in the envelope:

So that's 8 sets of threes in total! ^_^

I'll be sharing a quick Reel of how this layout came together on my Instagram page today, so make sure to check that out! If you'd like to create a layout featuring lots of sets of threes, be sure to tag me over on Instagram @ChouxPuffCreations so that I can see what you've created, and make sure to share your layouts over on the Citrus Twist Kits Facebook Page as well! Thanks for stopping by!

LIFE CRAFTED INSPIRATION WITH ETTIENE

Hi friends.  Today I am creating a layout in my life crafted album all about our trip to Vermont this past fall.  If you know me you know my dream is to move up to the middle of nowhere in Vermont and live in an A-Frame house with a large garden.  Until the day this happens I settle for long weekend trips.  Trips to Vermont always include sightseeing and lots of beer.  It has some of the of the best breweries in the country.

I created the base for the left page using the Travelogue Digital Journal Cards.  O loved the card as is but wanted to add a little room for a title so when I printed and trimmed the card I trimmed it to 5" wide.  For the right side of the page I used the Travelogue Digital Travelers Notebook Papers. The additional piece I prepped ahead of time before assembling the layout was the Vacation Memories Cut File.  I altered the file slightly by cutting off the edge that would normally be punched to go in the album. This gave an easy spot to place my photos.

I stamped my title using the Emma lower alphabet stamp set. I also loved the Roam, Adventure, Travel and Go See Do on the journal card I printed.  I used it as a starting point for my journaling and really wanted to get my point across that we went to Vermont for the beer by adding the word BEER in each paragraph using the alpha in the Travelogue Kit.

The finishing touch was to add some ephemera and some stickers.  I love how simple it was to put this layout together with the cut file and this kit.
