Sunday sketch with Marivi

Hello everyone!

Today we are going with this week's sketch, an 8.5x11 layout with several layers of paper.

I have used the Pinkfresh papers that come in this month's Add-on kit, they match great with a couple of photos of my husband working out at home during confinement.

I have cut a long strip of paper as a background and on top I have cut others horizontally to place the photos.

I have added theme related ornaments, stickers and I have also used my sewing machine.

Sunday Sketch with Kira

Hey there!  It's Kira and I am back with another Sunday Sketch.  Today I am using the June add-on kit to create a layout in my Life Crafted Album.  Here's a look at the sketch we are using today:

I started this layout by choosing the pink ledger paper as my background.  I cut it down to 8.5x8.25 and worked on it like it was a mini 12x12 layout.  After the layout was complete, I cut it down the middle so it would fit in my LC album. 

I used some patterned papers and a tag from my stash to layer behind my photo.  Then I created a cute cluster on the right side of the photo using die cuts and puffy stickers from the add-on kit.

I used the alphas from the kit to spell out my title, Silly Random Questions.  Then for some texture I used my sewing machine to stitch over the top of the alphas and on the strips of paper.

I typed up my journaling on white cardstock and adhered below the photo.  I added a sticker on foam adhesive for an additional pop of color near the journaling.

I decided I wanted a little something on the reverse page to balance everything out.  So I layered a few die cuts to create an embellishment cluster.

Life Crafted Layout using June Add On Kit with Kira

Hey there!  It's Kira and I am back with another layout in my Life Crafted album.  I used the June add-on kit to create this layout, here's a look at the finished product:

I started this layout with a sweet story about my son and cats.  We have two cats, Biscuit and Waffles, but Waffles is the one who is always making biscuits (you know that cute thing cats do where they look like they're kneading bread?).  So my oldest son and I came up with a song for the cats:  Waffles makes the biscuits, Biscuit makes the waffles.  I take a lot of cute photos of the cats, without much story besides they looked cute.  So I grabbed a few for this layout and printed the main one in color and the others in black and white.

I typed up my journaling on a piece of 4.25x8.25 white cardstock, then used this paper as my base for the layout.  I used some pieces of patterned paper from the add-on kit to layer behind my photo.

I decided to go a little whimsical with my title and embellishment placement since this is a sort of whimsical story.  I used the alphas included in the kit to spell the title, Waffles Makes Biscuits, vertically down my page, overlapping the photo.

On the reverse page, I placed the three 1.5" photos vertically down my page.  To tie it in with the rest of the layout, I created a layered strip on the right side of the page.

3 Relaxing Days | 12x12 Mixed Media Layout

I know I'm not the first person to be totally and utterly infatuated with the many shades of blue.  When I saw this amazing striped sheet in this month's kit, I knew it would need to be the foundation of a layout, filled with all the shades of blue that make me dreamy-eyed.

I pulled out a few goodies from this month's Add-On Kit to match up with that gorgeous sheet of paper!  The ephemera and puffy stickers in the Add-On Kit are the perfect addition to the shades of blue in the monthly kit.

I began my layout on a white sheet of 12x12 paper; I then added 3 stripes of mixed media to solidify the love of dreamy blues.  I swiped on some mint, ocean blue, and a little cornflower blue.  I knew I wanted to align the great cork numbers that came in this month's kit with the swipes of blues.

I decided on a whim to cut apart the sheet of stripes to spread across my layout.  I really love how it created little slots to tuck in ephemera and cardstock phrases.  I adhered them to my layout, over the slightly buckled mixed media areas, by stitching them on.  I decided to leave the extra thread because I love the way it adds even more dimension and color.

I chose to place my photo in the lower right corner, backed with another great paper in this month's kit.  I really wanted to hide my journaling on this layout, because I wanted the colors to do all the talking!  I included some hidden journaling, using the glassine bag that the cork numbers came in.  I trimmed down a 3x4 card to slide in for my journaling.  I then stitched on some mint tulle, so it would be easy to pull out from behind my photo, and isn't it so pretty?!

The last step was to add all kinds of pretty pieces of ephemera, and I had a bounty at my hands between the main and Add-On kit this month.

Customized Embellishments

Hey crafty friends, Melanie here with a fall layout today.
Autumn is my favorite season, I love everything about it I am taking a lot of pictures at this time of the year. You can imagine how excited I was about using the 'Falling' cut file from the shop this month. I cut it out of white cardstock with my silhouette with some additional leaves.
I placed the cut file on the beautiful paper from the Scrapbook Kit, which makes such a nice background for my page.

I colored the leaves with the Pink Fresh Studio water colors (available in the shop) so they would go with the  colors of the paper.

I placed my photo in the middle of the page and layered it with some papers from the Scrapbook Kit and some of the cutaparts. I also tucked in a flower embellishment and white leaves for more interest.

I placed the leaves all over the page on a slight diagonal, like they had fallen down, using some foam adhesive for more dimension.

For some contrast and to complete my title (this song always reminds me of my granny), I stamped the word 'leaves' in black ink making it a little crooked, so that it looks like fallen leaves. I used the Griffin Alphabet, which is gorgeous, love me a serif font! And look how perfectly it goes with the cut file!

I really love, how the page turned out and how my leaves look! I hope, I inspired you to make matching embellishments for your project. When you don't have a Silhouette, you can always cut out some leaves by hand or use any other shape for this technique.

Happy Birthday Folsom! with Kira

It's my dog's birthday, y'all!!  Folsom is 12 today!  So it only seemed fitting that I make a Folsom centered layout.

My oldest son has a blankie, that he takes EVERYWHERE!  He is slightly obsessed with his blankie.  So when he "shares" blankie with anyone, it is the highest honor.  And when I caught him placing it on Folsom, I had to snag a photo of it.

I decided to cut a large "F" out of this floral paper found in the main kit.  The rest of my page was coordinated to match the floral paper.

I used one of the journaling cards from the Pocket Life kit as a subtitle.  I roughed up the edges to give it some texture.

Then it was just a matter of embellishing.  I used bits and pieces from a lot of the kits, but my favorite pieces have to be the floral die cuts from the PL kit!

Tuesday Tutorial with Kira

Hello again, Citrus Twist fans!  It's Kira and I am back for Tuesday Tutorial.  Do any of you have pen pals?  I have a few crafty friends who I write to regularly and send crafty gifts to, but lately, I have been slacking a little.  So I thought I could use my Citrus Twist kits to create a sweet little gift for one of my friends!

I was inspired by the Mixed Media kit this month.  I am in love with this cute Fruitastic stamp set from Pinkfresh Studio.  And thought it would be fun to make my own berry basket.

I used a berry basket cut file from Cricut Design Space and cut it out of the "Sprinkled" paper.  I filled it with the crinkle paper that is included in my kits every month (I save it every month so I never run out!).  Then I added my strawberries!

Supplies you will need for your strawberries:
-paper
-glue
-strawberry cut file
-leaf cut file
-candy

I made the strawberries by first creating a cut file.  (You can download it here, to either cut on your die cut machine, or cut by hand).  I used the Maggie Holmes "Sweet One" paper, which was perfect for my strawberries.  Once you have your strawberries cut out, you will fold along the score lines and glue the sides together.  This should create a little "cup" that you can fill with candy!  I used M&Ms, but how cute would some gummy strawberry candies look in these?!

Next you'll glue together the top of the strawberry, layering each "tab" on top of the last with a dot of glue.  Another option for closing the strawberries would be to punch a hole in each tab and then closing it up with some string.

To finish off the strawberries, I attached a leaf die cut.  I used a cut file from The Cut Shoppe, but any leaf cut file would work fine, or even hand cut leaves would look cute!  I used one of the 6x8 papers included in the Pocket Life kit, for a light pink and mint color scheme.

The mint ribbon from the main kit was perfect to finish off my basket.  I just tied it around the top of the basket rim for an extra sweet touch!

Back to the stamp set that inspired my entire project:  I decided to make a card to attach to my berry basket.  I stamped in similar pink and mint colors for my strawberries on some white cardstock.  Then I stamped the sentiment "I picked the best friend" in black directly on top of the strawberry pattern.  I backed the white cardstock with a pink paper from the 6x8 paper pad.  I adhered the card to the basket with a mini clothespin from my stash.

And there it is!  The sweetest little gift!  I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and thank you so much for stopping by!
