Sunday Sketch with Wendy

Hello Citrus Twist Kits lovelies and Happy (long) Holiday Weekend (American peeps)!

Wendy here to share up with you today the Sunday Sketch.  I love long weekends and you can take this sketch to work up some creative flow after you eat some BBQ and enjoy some down time to kick start summer!  I feel I take more photos in the summer months and this sketch is a great one to bring a fun vibe to your next layout.

As my usual layout style and size, I adapted the sketch to a 9x12 layout format.

Here's my take on the Sunday Sketch this week...

My three stepsons still live in Europe (near Salzburg, Austria, to be exact).  We are thousands of miles apart but love for family is near and dear.  Plus, I had to include our Yorkie, Principessa (aka Italian for Princess) Saponaro who is part of the family too. Ha!

The repetition of the circles on this sketch had me at hello!  I like the different flow to get away from the typical and routine square photos.  So fun!

For this sketch, I blew the dust off of my circle punches.  I used circle punches in the sizes of 3", 1 1/2", 1", and 3/4" or you can easily use your Silhouette Cameo to cut out the various circle sizes.  The repetition of circles in the sketch brings many opportunities to use various pattern papers or photos, as you prefer.

On one of the 3" circles, I added my journaling with a typewriter along with the "I like us" phrase from the stamp set in the June 2016 "Capri" Scrapbook Kit.  I used the Maggie Holmes papers along with the Citrus Twist Kits exclusive paper in the kit.

The touch of florals along the circle shapes bring warmth to the sketch.  So, I added some floral sprigs from my stash along with some hand stitching for the leaves.

Supply List:

Citrus Twist Kits | June 2016 "Capri" Scrapbook Kit, Stamps: June 2016, December 2015, This Moment, Tiny Attacher stapler.

Other | Circle punches, spray mist, dye ink, florals, embroidery thread, needle, wood veneers (letters).

Now it's your turn. If you want to play along with this week's Sunday Sketch and be eligible to win a $5 gift certificate, create a project based off of the sketch and upload it to CTK Gallery by next Saturday. Please make sure to include "Sketch 7/3" to the title line of your project.

I hope I inspired you and you enjoyed my take on this week's Sunday Sketch!  We can't wait to see what you create with this sketch!  Now go and create it up!

Titles in Your Pocket Albums

Hello Citrus Twist Kits fans!

It's Mira here today with a few of my Pocket Page Scrapbooks that I created with June "Capri" Pocket Life Kit together with some bits and pieces from July Sprinkles Kit!

In today's post I'd like You to focus on exactly ONE element of a pocket page which is: TITLE!

Do You add titles to Your pages? I mean, some of us work with PL in a weekly manner, and probably week numbers are treated as a title in such approaches... but I mean something else here. I mean title like we do in a standard scrapbook layouts. I mean key words describing Your page to draw attention in a specific direction. Do You add them to Your pages?

Please, let me show You how fun this can be!

In the past I was completely Layout-oriented person and when I discovered Pocket Page Scrapbooking I suddenly stopped creating regular pages. And stopped adding titles to my works. But I am huge fan of alphabets (Just look at the one from June PL Kit!!! Isn't it gorgeous!? I love it!!!) and I missed huge titles very much!

So I started adding them to my Pocket Pages!

Just look at my June spreads to see a few ways how You can add this fun effect to Your pocket pages:
In this first page I used Pink Paislee chipboard alphabet from PL kit to say: This is my Best Best Best Best Friend! And look, now we have another generation of soon to be friends, growing up :)

In my second page I created two titles. The first one is the word SLOW from the picture on the left. It's a cover of a magazine that I recently discovered and it resonates with me a lot, so I used it as a first title in this page. Then I have another one on the right - the collage of words made with various elements - by this I wanted to extend the first title and say what changes have been happening in our life lately.

Another page was featuring our friends and their visit. The word "visitors" is too long to put into one pocket, but I managed to add it anyway. I simply placed some letters in another pocket.

And here two more examples of my PL pages where I added a title:

I often add titles on top of a single PL card which is simple in design - it makes them easy to be found on the page, and they attract my attention easily, but You know what?
You can go crazy! Put the titles on top of Your pictures, place each letter in a separate pocket or use a colorful pattern paper as a background for Your titles! Sky is the limit!

If You happen to add titles to Your pocket pages, please share them with me! I'd love to see what You created and I'll be happy to try some new ideas!

Thanks for stopping by,
MJ

Creating with the "Away" Add-On Kit

This month I got to create with the fun "Away" add-on, and as the name suggest, it's the perfect choice for scrapping those travel pics! I've used it on this Kraft base layout, documenting my daughter's 4 day walk through the Tasmanian west coast wilderness.

I've started with a mixed media background of gesso, mists, ink and graphite..

and added some hand drawn leaves and script in white gel pen

On this page, I've opted for a more simple design, added sections of woodgrain card stock and the patterned papers in the kit, along with part of the packaging from the Cocoa Vanilla paper ephemera

I'm loving the texture in the fabric tag!

To finish, just a few splats of the mustard colorshine..

My final project is a fairly similar design on a 8.5 x 11" scale, once again featuring the beautiful nickel woodgrain card stock, along with a few embellishments, alpha and journaling tag (from previous CTK printables)

Utilising the packaging here again, I've incorporated part of a glassine bag, which I coloured with distress stain, and embellished with a couple of hand-cut leaves and a barcode..

Did you manage to get your hands on the Away Add-on before it sold out? I'd love to see how you used your kit if you did, please share your creations in our gallery and Facebook group!

Sunday Sketch

Happy Sunday Sketch Day!!

Brooke here to share some sketch inspiration to hopefully get you making something today!  Here's a look at this week's sketch...

Immediately, I'm intrigued by the grid column behind the photo and know I'll use this inspiration as my main design element.  Here's what I came up with...

I thought it would be fun to incorporate collage paper art into this project.  I went with random, hand-cut shapes in a loose grid column to create a playful and carefree feeling...perfect for these photos of my 6-months old niece, Riley.

Originally, this was a 9x12 layout.  But, I went a little overboard and the column ended up being so wide that it almost took up the whole page.  Not wanting to cover any of the elements up with a photo, I decided to add on a 3-inch piece of patterned paper to make this a 12x12 layout again.  This allowed additional space for photo placement and journaling.

Once I had the photos placed, I added in the journaling, silver hearts and the chipboard title to complete the page.

***Now it's your turn!***

To play along with this week's Sunday Sketch Challenge, create a layout based off of today's sketch, upload it to the gallery with today's date (6/26) in the title, and you will be eligible to win a $5 gift certificate to be used in the CTK Store!

3 to Inspire

Hello! Michelle here with this week's "3 to Inspire" challenge!

Your take on this challenge can be a layout or a PL spread and you must include all 3 prompts on your project. This is what I have for you today:

1. Document a road trip or adventure.
2. Incorporate paper strips.
3. Add some mist or paint.

Here is my take using the June "Away" Add-On Kit:

This was such a fun challenge for me! First off, I had been saving this fun picture that I took on our way home from picking up our new truck and the colors in this kit were just perfect for it. Using paper strips in my project were actually a really great solution to incorporating several of the pattern papers that were pretty bold and busy. The bottle of Heidi Swapp Color Shine that is included in the Add-on Kit was the final touch.

Now it's your turn! Use the three prompts to create your own project, share it with us here in the gallery , and you will be eligible to win a small prize from the CTK StoreMake sure to include the date of the challenge in the title of your gallery submission!  Can't wait to see what you create!

Sometimes simple is best with Aimee.

Since before Eva was born I have had a crippling fear of scraping her album. I created this perfect little human, how hard can the perfect scrapbook be? Yeah... It's impossible. Especially when said perfect child isn't really big on naps. I've come to the realisation that sometimes done, is better than nothing. Even better than 'done' is a page with a simple clean style that can be done in 15 minutes. Let's rock this out shall we?

Tip One: love your kit. Trina does such an amazing job of giving you everything you need. This page is living proof the you don't need to raid your stash. Paint, glue, the Capri Main Kit and June's Embellishment Kit and your good to go. And you know what? I find that limiting my supplies not only saves me time, it also increases my creativity.  Give it a go, you might surprise yourself.

Tip Two: You often find that Kits have a few sheet from the same collection. Use them to your advantage as they were designed to go together. Also, white cardstock is your friend, who am I kidding it's my scrap supply soulmate.

Tip Three: No one REALLY needs a title. Hell, if you can get away with word stickers who even really needs journaling? Oh how I love Citrus Twist Phrase Stickers <3 <3 <3

Tip Four: Ditch the time consuming processes. Sure I could print a label in one of a million cool fonts  and colours, but frankly it's just easier to use the typewriter. Why get out the sewing machine when a tiny attacher works so well. And by 'well', I mean it drives me less mad when I run out of staples apposed to having to refill and fit the bobbin.

There you have it my CT kit lovers. The secret to simple, chic, streamlined pages.

Can't wait to come back and play next month,

Aimee Xx

Sunday Sketch

Hi and welcome to today's edition of our Sunday Sketch Challenge! This week our sketch features multiple photos and you can bet I was super excited to take advantage of this! First, here's a look at our sketch:

I had the good luck of getting to work with the June Add On Kit this month and thought it was perfect to scrap a batch of outdoorsy photos that I had taken during a recent stop to view some spring wildflowers:

Usually I like to stick pretty close to the sketch, but this this time I couldn't make a few of the elements work for me. I was absolutely set on sticking with the photo arrangement, however I just did not care for how the photos looked with a square of patterned paper underneath them. After considering my options I decided to use a large triangle of paper instead and instantly felt that I had made the right decision in changing my layout up a bit from the sketch.

Now it's your turn! To play along with this week's challenge, create a layout based off of today's sketch, upload it to the CTK Gallery with today's date (6/19) in the title, and you will be eligible to win a $5 gift certificate to the CTK Store!

Looking forward to seeing your take on the sketch!

Let's Get Digital with Emma

Hi friends!  Emma here with this month's edition of Let's Get Digital!

Trina created the most gorgeous cut file this month:

You can download from the cut file from Citrus Twist Facebook Fan Page.

I absolutely love die-cut flower shapes, they are one of my favourites to create and use!  This is the page I created using them :)

For my page I kept it quite simple - just cut a few (well, I cut dozens actually...I like to keep extra's for later ;) ) from 3 different papers in the June kits and formed a circle on the centre of my page!  I adhered them with glue but went back and stitched in a circle too just to make sure they were not going anywhere.

Because the pages I create are 6x8 it means the circle is a little out of proportion with the page (12x12 or 8x8 would look a little more balanced for example, and be much bigger on the page!), I just added a few ink splatters and enamel dots to help fill that void at the top and bottom of the page.

I put the photo to the right side of the circle and my title to the left...gotta keep things balanced, ha!

Then I just added some of my favourite embellishments and called it done!  Love how easy the die-cut shapes were to use!

I can't wait to see how you use this month's cut files!  Be sure to link them up in the gallery and/or the Citrus Twist Facebook Fan Page!

Thanks, Em xo

Bonita Rose | Using My June Grace Box In My Journal

HI everyone!
It's Bonita Rose here and today I'm sharing with you
how I'm using my Grace Box inside my writing journal.

I'm one of those people.. that loves journals, anyone else?
Sometimes, I just can't pass by a pretty journal,
even though I have a few empty ones already here at home.
Anyone else?
I digress.

On this day, I found myself praying this morning, and really sharing my heart
with God about the events here in my home state of Florida over this past weekend.
You see, I live only about 10 mins outside of Orlando.
Here, it really hits home.

I wanted to show you all how your Grace Box contents
don't just have to be used in your Bibles, or your faith journals.
They can be used in just simple writing journals too!

Here, I used some of the stamps, the word stickers, a puffy 'Everyday' sticker,
and a journaling card from the June Grace Box.

Then I just shared my heart.

My journaling reads:

With the grace of God, I know we can all get through the hurt.
The pain. The injustice of so many lives lost.
Through it all - God Reigns.

Ever since all these people died over the weekend,
my heart has been with the families. The ones left behind.
Comfort them Lord.
Help them to live out loud for You.

To shine Your forgiveness.
One thing I know --
Your love surrounds me
And it's Your love that will surround these families left behind.
Help us all Jesus -- to love one another more.

To be still and know - that it's living our lives as You did
that will change our world.

Lord help us.
Shine bright in our lives.
Shine bright.
