I Need a Moment, Traveler's Notebook with Wendy

Happy Wednesday friends!

Wendy here to share up some Traveler's Notebook (TN) love for you today!

Since I've started using a TN (TNs as abbreviated and termed by many using these oblong and mini books of delight), I'm enjoying the process for the quick capture of memories.  These little snippets of life bring me joy!

Probably unknown to many around here, I used to make a LOT of mini books, a LOT!  Dating myself  around the scrapbooking world but you might remember the paper magazine, Scrapbook Trends?  Well, I used to have a lot of my mini books published in their special mini album edition as well as the monthly/bi-monthly issues.  Scrapbooking in a mini size just brings that sweet feeling of looking at a "smaller canvas" with less stress than to fill a 12x12.  Also, the TN option is a great idea if you are limited on time to scrapbook.  In a TN, you can feel a big accomplishment in capturing a less involved  ("less is more") version of documenting memories to paper.  Oh, and the key word and purpose "traveler's" notebook. Hence, on-the-go memory keeping with a few supplies.  YAS!!

I chose to use elements from the new July kits along with the June 2017 monthly stamp, "The Good, The Bad, The Ugly".  This set is still available over in the CTK shop. So, get it while it last!

I believe we can all agree that not everyday is rosy and fields of daffodils, right?!

Here are a couple of more snapshots from my TN layout....

Supplies list:

June 2017, 4x6 Life Stamp Set
July 2017 "#rightnow" Scrapbook Kit
July 2017 "#rightnow" Pocket Life Kit

Hope you enjoyed my project share!

Planners Gonna Plan with Wendy

Hello everyone!

Wendy here to share up a different type of blog post for you today.  Let's talk planners!  Have you checked out the planner craze these days?  There was even a HUGE planner convention near me (in New Orleans) that I'm still pinching myself for not knowing about.  I will say that I don't carry more than two planners - one for personal deadlines (i.e. bills due, doggie grooming appt, etc.) and another for my creative/design team deadlines.

I've always been one to carry a planner or notebook with me in planning out my day, to-dos, or checklist of upcoming deadlines to target for the day/week.  Then, when the planner scene brought rad stamps, stickers and amazing add-ons to jazz up my daily lists, I was all in. Although I don't go frou frou (aka frilly decorations with a bazillion stickers, countless washi tape, colors galore, etc) within my planner, personally, I keep it simple with a few stamps and simple stickers.  Personally, this is my preference.  However, if you have the time and desire, go deluxe and decorate to the max your planner(s).

All this leads me to say, did you know you can take your Citrus Twist Kits stamps to the next level to use in your planner(s)? I say plural in the word planners because many who are quite addicted or "highly dedicated planner enthusiasts" (as I like to call them, ha) will carry more than one, two, three, four+ planners.  Personally, I don't have the time or space to carry more than two.

Here are my top essentials for my planning from shopping over at Citrus Twist Kits.

  • Pick your planner album.  There is a neat planner album option available over at Citrus Twist Kits, Webster's Pages Color Crush Leather Planner Kit available in teal, pink and caramel colors.  Personally, I use a Kate Spade covered spiral bound album (for my creative deadlines) and a Day Designer/Blue Sky 6x8 gold & white spiral bound (for my home deadlines) from Target.  In July, I will switch from the Kate Spade to the new Get to Workbook that gives off the calendar year of July 2016 - June 2017.
  • Stamps. Stamps are my must-have in my planner!  This is my ultimate embellishment and necessity for my planning.  There is the motherload of options over at the Citrus Twist Kits shop.  Look up "stamping" in the category and take your pick.  The stamps by Citrus Twist Kits yields an abundance of options from the simple wording and phrases.  Love them to bits!  The Hero Arts My Week 4x6 set gives you many options for planning it out.  A huge fav are the Kelly Purkey stamps that are perfectly sized for planners.  You can find these and the roller stamps over in the shop too!
  • Inks. I know many prefer pigment ink for planner stamping.  Personally, I prefer dye ink.  Pigment ink is more absorbent and takes a bit longer to dry (or speed up with a heat tool). Dye ink is instantly dry after stamping and non-smudging.  As far as ink colors, I stick to basics of red and black.  The majority of my stamping is just in black. There are a few dye ink options over at the Citrus Twist Kits shop here.
  • Mini cards. These 2x3 mini planner cards were recently released and work perfectly for planning, shopping, and getting organized.  You can attach them with a stapler to your planner page or drop in your wallet for a reminder while out and about.

  • Embellishments.  If I use embellishments in my planner, I like flat and not so bulky embellishments.  You can look at your current and past Citrus Twist Kits for fun embellishments to add into your planner.  Some of my favs are cork accents, non-bulk flair, mini binder clips, and stickers. The are SO many options in the "Embellishments" category over at the shop
Hope you enjoyed my share of planner essentials in my stash!

What inspires you from Citrus Twist Kits to plan it up?

Sunshine in My Filofax

Hello there! If you follow me (Sam) on Instagram (@happiescrappie) you will see a lot of planner-related post popping up on your feed. Ah yes, I have gotten my very first planner - A medium sized Kikki K in mint / gold dots back in October 2013 and I am hooked ever since. And my humble collection is slowly growing. When Trina asked me if I could do a blog post about planner, I was so thrilled because I can finally share my obsession with all the CTK dubbers! So here I am, to kick start the very first planner/filofax-related post on CTK blog.

The picture below shows my humble collection of vintage typewriter and planners. And I have two more planners on my way (pre-ordering them from Amazon at really great price but the waiting period is 1-2 months).

If you are interested in what are the planners that I am using now, watch the video here

This month Citrus Twist Kits has all the fun colours that go so well with Summer themed. It is summer all year long in Malaysia & Singapore but it is still fun to play with all the vibrant colours. I decided to use the leftover from my July Pocket Life kit to make some planner dividers for my Filofax original yellow.

I wanted the background of the divider to be really plain (so that the colour would pop), so I trimmed down 6 pieces of vellums into Personal sized (approximately 3.75 inch x 6.75inch).  I just add some mini cards from Simple Stories and Elle's Studio stickers on the vellum, then laminate the vellum. And it is really easy that I love how the elements look like they are floating on my planner.

You can actually see-thru what's behind the divider.

This divider is made using the die cut from Amy Tangerine dies (which is available at Citrus Twist Store).

Just in case you are wondering, why did I added a thin stripe of washi tapes to the edge. Its not for enforcement the dividers, thats because the stupid me, has forgotten to adjust the gap of the rings on my Rakuten punch, and punch them wrongly and I ended  up with 12 holes on each dividers after punched twice.

I only spend 15-20 minutes making the dividers and I really like how easy and colourful they are. I hope this post inspires some of you (who are planner nerds) like me use the left over form your Citrus Twist Kits to make your own divider.

XoXo,
