Pocket Life With Sam

Hello everyone! I hope you have a blessed holidays and enjoy your weekend with your loved one. This blog post is supposed to be Pocket Life pages but I decided to skip making traditional PL pages and switch to making December Daily album only. Last year DD album was an epic fail as I simply could not mane 2 albums (a PL album and another DD album) + I do not take so many seasonal photos too. (As you know, I live in Asia ;))

Since last year December Daily album was an epic fail with only a few pages made, so I decided to use the same album which is a Studio Calico Handbook that I have already altered and decorated. So this save up a lot of time and I simply add pages of December 2014. FYI, this year DD might be another failed projects too but at least I have already made pages till Day 11th, but I have yet to print any photos (because my printer is currently running out of ink!)
'DD 2014-1

I really love the album cover that I made last year so I really don't mind squeezing in 2013 & 2014 DD pages into one album.

'DD 2014-2

And here are the simple pages that I have made - yet to add photos + journaling. Simplicity is the way to do during this busy season / year-end =)

'DD 2014-3

I added a post card that my IG friend sent to me. It's pretty sad this year as this is the only Christmas card I have received + I literally sent out none!

'DD 2014-4

'DD 2014-5

'DD 2014-6

'DD 2014-7

Its simple and do-able right? I h ope you enjoy peeking into my not-so-completed December Daily album ;) Happy holidays!

Pocket Life With Sam

Hello there, Its Sam Today to share my Pocket Life pages using November PL Kit. I love the red and green patterned papers in the kit, thus I decided to make a 12x12 PL page with 1/2 red and 1/2 green. I even try to look for photos that have coordinating colour scheme.

November 1-1

I love the die cut vellum that are included in the kit and use it as the title card for this month spread.

November 1-2

November 1-3
See? I really tried my best to look for photos with red to match the red patterned paper.

November 1-4

And here's the sketches for this week Pocket Life page. One of the sketches is by cutting your photos into half and fit them into two 3' x 4'  pockets.

Sketch 1

Sketch 4

After completing the red-green combo Pocket Life page, I thought of doing something more monotonous. So I grab 6 more pieces of black& white, grey papers from the kit and completed another 12x12 pocket life page. I keep the photo to be bright and colour to add good contrast to this monochromatic page.

November 2-1

It is so fun to scrap pocket life pages according to fixed colour themed and it really push me to think out of the box. I hope  you have fun scrapbooking and doing pocket life pages with this month kit too! Thanks for dropping by!

Sam

Pocket Life with Sam

Hello there, this is Sam to share my August Pocket Life pages with you. I am so sorry  thatI have been posting this blog post late. The immigration held up my kit and it took much much much longer than usual. Anyways, August is my birthday month but things haven't been great. So I thought I would scrap a colourful page and also journal a little about my unhappiness. Things do happen and it is not a must to just record happy moments in my Pocket Life pages.

So here's my page, with a lot of goodies from August Pocket Life kit & Embellies kit. So much goodies that I think I could scrap a few more pages and share on our CTK Fans page.

Although this two weeks I had a lot of ups & downs, but happy colours in this page does remind me to count my everyday blessings and be grateful.

I am pretty much happy with doing my monthly spread and not stressing myself for 'catching up' on those un-documented weeks and photos. Everything in the page is from August Pocket Life kit and Embellies kit and only sneak in a sheet of Crate Paper Thickers.

I also added some journalling with water-colour and my vintage typewriter.

This pictures of all my Filofaxes in pink definitely made me happy!

To me, it is definitely ok to record my negative thoughts and unhappiness in my PL.

I water-colour a piece of white card stock and add my journalling with my vintage typewrite with cursive font.

Another pic from this week to remind myself to be grateful - I met this cute doggie whose nose has been chopped off by some cruel 'human'. HE is still a handsome yet cheerful chap regardless how sorry we felt for him.

And there you go, I am in the midst of editing a process video for this page and will  upload to my Youtube channel + CTK fans page soon. Thanks for looking and have a great week ahead. I do hope that my page inspires you to document the true moments of your everyday life - be it ups and downs, and all the little things that remind us to be grateful + treasure our life.

Sam

Sunshine in My Filofax

Hello there! If you follow me (Sam) on Instagram (@happiescrappie) you will see a lot of planner-related post popping up on your feed. Ah yes, I have gotten my very first planner - A medium sized Kikki K in mint / gold dots back in October 2013 and I am hooked ever since. And my humble collection is slowly growing. When Trina asked me if I could do a blog post about planner, I was so thrilled because I can finally share my obsession with all the CTK dubbers! So here I am, to kick start the very first planner/filofax-related post on CTK blog.

The picture below shows my humble collection of vintage typewriter and planners. And I have two more planners on my way (pre-ordering them from Amazon at really great price but the waiting period is 1-2 months).

If you are interested in what are the planners that I am using now, watch the video here.

This month Citrus Twist Kits has all the fun colours that go so well with Summer themed. It is summer all year long in Malaysia & Singapore but it is still fun to play with all the vibrant colours. I decided to use the leftover from my July Pocket Life kit to make some planner dividers for my Filofax original yellow.

I wanted the background of the divider to be really plain (so that the colour would pop), so I trimmed down 6 pieces of vellums into Personal sized (approximately 3.75 inch x 6.75inch).  I just add some mini cards from Simple Stories and Elle's Studio stickers on the vellum, then laminate the vellum. And it is really easy that I love how the elements look like they are floating on my planner.

You can actually see-thru what's behind the divider.

This divider is made using the die cut from Amy Tangerine dies (which is available at Citrus Twist Store).

Just in case you are wondering, why did I added a thin stripe of washi tapes to the edge. Its not for enforcement the dividers, thats because the stupid me, has forgotten to adjust the gap of the rings on my Rakuten punch, and punch them wrongly and I ended  up with 12 holes on each dividers after punched twice.

I only spend 15-20 minutes making the dividers and I really like how easy and colourful they are. I hope this post inspires some of you (who are planner nerds) like me use the left over form your Citrus Twist Kits to make your own divider.

Pocket life with Sam

Hello there! This is Sam today to share my Poclet Life pages together with a process video on how I put all my pages together. The video is almost 9 minutes but I fast forward 4 times, how I wish I could make a page under 10 minutes. Lol. Enjoy the video!

And here's the close up of the page. I do only monthly pages nowadays, which is way less stressful for me. I don't squeezing all the photos in 2 pages, but i will just group photos in the same month together. And I am loving the Maggie Holmes die cut that came in the May kit, small packaging that packed with a lot of yummy vellum die cuts!

More close-ups here:

I have also added some Project Life cards from Becky Higgins to stretch my kit. I have a tonnes of PL cards that I barely use them, so I decided to combined the PL cards with CTK kits when I am working on my spreads.

This 3x4 cards is one ofmy CTK exclusive card this month. Love such simple prompts for journalling.

Thanks for looking!

Sam

6x6 Paper Play With Sam

Hello there! This is Sam to share another project of me using the 6x6 paper pad that came with our Pocket Life kit this week. Instead of making a 12x12 traditional layout, I opted for making mini layouts for my Japan trip. Before I start, I just want to say how awesome is Internet and this online community! Most of you may know I came from Malaysia, far far away from US, and what a coincidence that I got to meet one of Citrus Twist DT girl - April Joy in Tokyo! And of course, we has to meet up in one of the largest craft store in Shibuya, Tokyo — Tokyu Hands. It was really a quick and fun meeting-up session with her and another Japanese girl that we got to know form Instagram ;)

So I decided to scrap two mini layouts of our photo and also for the crafty goodness that I lugged all the way back from Tokyo. I decided to use Basic Grey Capture album (yellow and kraft cover) that I got from Citrus Twist Store a while ago (that I have been hoarding and did nothing to it). I didn't like the kraft cover so I started with painting the cover with layers and layers of mint acrylic paint. I only painted twice and the Martha Stewart Satin acrylic paint gives such a great coverage and smooth finishing.

To make my layout, I trim down a piece of white card stock to be fir into the album and also want to make background with Tim Holtz Distress Paints.

I started adding paint strokes to the background (which is my current favourite technique), then add some stickers and embellishment and I am done with a layout within 10 minutes. I didn't want my layout to have a lot of dimension as I worry that the whole album might ends up too bulky when I am done scrapping my 7 days trip. Since I have printed an extra photo of the craft goodies from Japanese dollar store, so I made another layouts using scraps and pieces that I have leftover from making PL pages. And so, I made 2 layouts using all the scrap bits & pieces from the PL kit to make these two mini layouts. I am loving how it looks in my album now!

The blue glitter Thickers are to die for. LoL

And more close-ups for the 2 mini layouts:
