Pocket life with Sam

Hello there! This is Sam today to share my Poclet Life pages together with a process video on how I put all my pages together. The video is almost 9 minutes but I fast forward 4 times, how I wish I could make a page under 10 minutes. Lol. Enjoy the video!

And here's the close up of the page. I do only monthly pages nowadays, which is way less stressful for me. I don't squeezing all the photos in 2 pages, but i will just group photos in the same month together. And I am loving the Maggie Holmes die cut that came in the May kit, small packaging that packed with a lot of yummy vellum die cuts!

More close-ups here:

I have also added some Project Life cards from Becky Higgins to stretch my kit. I have a tonnes of PL cards that I barely use them, so I decided to combined the PL cards with CTK kits when I am working on my spreads.

This 3x4 cards is one ofmy CTK exclusive card this month. Love such simple prompts for journalling.

Thanks for looking!

XoXo,
Sam

Pocket Life with Jen

Happy Friday and a Happy Memorial Day weekend to our US readers! Today, I'm sharing Week 15 in my PL album:

JenB_MayPL5
My pages have been leaning toward a lighter, brighter, simpler approach lately. With three very young children at home, creative time often happens in 2-5 minute increments as I can catch a quiet moment in the day. A natural evolution toward simplicity. The beautiful May Pocket Life and Pocket Life Embellishment kits, as well as the add-on stamp, helped me keep this spread simple and still on trend. Part of that simplicity? Using quick, typed journaling on white backgrounds with a bit of embellishing. I feel very strongly about using my own handwriting on my pages for a personal feel so, I've made sure to add in bits here and there.

JenB_MayPL6
This week also shows my concerted effort to get photos of myself and my husband in this album regularly. Since I am a stay at home mom and take photos of the kids all day long, it's easy to have only those three little people represented but, that isn't the whole story! Mom and Dad need to be there too. Relationships need to be documented with photos. It matters.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!

6x6 Paper Play with Jen...

Hello everyone! Jen here today with a multi-photo layout making use of the lovely 6x6 Websters Pages paper pack in the May Pocket Life kit.

JenB_May6x6_1
This pack offered such a wonderful variety of patterns! For this page, I chose four favorite iPhone photos of my daughter, along with two sheets of the paper to incorporate in my design: the blocked cloud/sky pattern and one with whimsical text boxes.

JenB_May6x6_4
I used my Silhouette to cut multiple hearts from the cloud paper and repeated the same cuts using a sheet of pink vellum from my stash. I layered the two, over the negative of the vellum cuts, and machine stitched a line down the center of each heart to 1) adhere the shapes and 2) to easily add dimension.

JenB_May6x6_2The text box paper was perfect for my journaling. I simply put pen to paper, adding a few words to each box then, cut out the strips and added them to my page with a bit of liquid adhesive. I finished off the design with a Silhouette cut title and two of the clear heart stickers also included in the Pocket Life kit.

Thank you for stopping by!
Jen

Playing with Pocket Life with April

Happy Friday! April here to share some random pages (in no particular order) from my travel album from my recent trip to Japan using the May PL and PL Embellie Kits.  I loved this month's kit and it was one of my favorites because of the gold accents!  The "Our Travels" 6x6 paper pad by Webster's Pages was perfect to document my trip!

I started by documenting our flights because we were lucky enough to fly first class/business class.  Unfortunately, my husband came down with a terrible migraine mid-flight on our first leg of the trip, so he was pretty miserable the whole trip.  Fortunately for me, I was still able to enjoy the free drinks, free entertainment system, and all the food.. :P

This album will have a mix of pocket pages and full 6x8 layouts.  I shared my first in my 6x6 assignment post, but here's another.  I documented a shopping trip I took with a friend who lives in Japan named Tomomi and our very own DT girl, Sam, who happened to be in Tokyo at the same time I was!

DSCN4554_800_CTK

My husband and I were able to catch a Giants game at the Tokyo Dome while we were in Tokyo.  It was our favorite experience of the trip.  Baseball in Japan is SO much more popular than it is in the USA and all the fans/spectators get so into the game.  They would cheer and sing through the whole game and do dances anytime someone scored a home run.  It was amazing!

On another day, we were able to meet with my husband's friends and they took us to a beautiful park to hang out at before lunch.  Their daughter was super adorable.

On our bike tour, we stopped by the Imperial Palace.  We had a great tour guide and were able to see a lot of sites during our tour.

Hope you liked the random pages that I've shared. I have plans to continue playing with the kits and document more of my trip soon!  Have a great day!

Pocket life with jen chapin

jenchapin_ctk may PL
Happy Friday to you! Today I am sharing a layout I created with the May PL kit. What a great one it is! Such a great mix of cards and embellishments this month.

jenchapin_pl may (1)
I am doing my PL out of order this year and I am totally ok with that. I have everything in order in my album, so I am going through and filling in the gaps as needed. These photos were from March. I am not concerned with "keeping up" and will treasure anything I document!

jenchapin_pl may (2)
I love the Dear Lizzy wood buttons that came in the add-on this month. I like to add them on top of the page protectors.

jenchapin_pl may (3)
The kit also comes with a 12x12 cut apart sheet that has journaling cards. Isn't this typewriter cute? And I love the clear stickers - I used them on a lot of my photos in this spread.

jenchapin_pl may (4)
I have been a lot better about trying to include memorabilia in my Pocket Life. My daughter drew this family picture and I immediately stamped a date on it and put it in my album. Even if I don't have the surrounding weeks done yet, I still file my memorabilia this way so that I can keep track of it. And always remember to date it!

jenchapin_pl may (5)
This pie chart card was my favorite this month! I also used the add-on stamp here.

jenchapin_pl may (6)
My date stamp is my go to tool and I use it a lot on all my projects!

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Have a great weekend!

For your last challenge, I challenge you to create a layout in a size that you're not typically used to making.  For example, if you typically create 12"x12" layouts, create a 8.5"x11" layout instead!
***

I created this layout in a size that I typically don't scrap in:  6"x8".  This is going into my travel album dedicated to my most recent travels to Tokyo, Japan (which you'll see more of in my PL posts this month).

It's a simple layout in which I layered some of the cut-apart papers from the 6x6 pad over a full sheet.  I didn't want to cut apart the full sheet because I loved the quote that was on it.  The size of the sheet ended up working out perfectly with the size of my layout.  Then I added some fussy cut  elements plus some embellishments from the PL kit.

NSD Challenge #2: Use CIRCLES to unite a layout.

Circles are easily accessible, whether using a punch, die, sticker or machine cut. They can be bold or, be used to soften a design. Throughout my layout here, I used circles in a variety of ways to pull two pages together: the pie chart, a pop of orange on a light blue background, layered on a die cut card, as a spot for a date and to ground the number of members in our family.

JenB_MayPLNSDChallenge
Here are my Week 14 Pocket Life pages, using the May PL and PL Embellishment kits and showing my use of circles:

JenB_MayPL1
Two of my favorites included in our soon to be revealed May Kits are the pie chart card and the circle 3x4 die cut. These two pieces inspired today's NSD challenge.

I can't wait to see your creations using circles!
