Sunday Sketch with Leigh

Welcome to our Sunday Sketch! Leigh here, to share a pretty literal interpretation of the sketch because the sketch is so great! Thank you to Michelle Wedertz for creating these.

Using the June Boardwalk Scrapbook Kit and the Embellishment kit, I stayed true to the sketch. I love the centered grid and the spots for embellishment, well really, I  love everything about this sketch!

The sketch for today.

The turquoise boots are the main focal point of the photo, so I chose the complementary (opposite on the color wheel) orange for the embellishment on my page. There are so many options to choose from in the June embellishment kit.

Add your favorite embellishments behind and on top of the squares, and you have a quick to complete page done in a jiffy.

Thanks for joining us today, and happy crafting.

So Much Love

Good Morning!  I'm here today to share a little page I made this week.  As soon as I opened my box of goodies, I knew exactly what photo I was going to use the little bear with.  In fact, I had been anxiously awaiting his arrival.

My littlest munchkin has this stuffed bear.  She has had him since she was about 18 months old.  She still has him and sleeps with him every night.  Once he was even lost.  For three months.  Apparently he felt the need to hibernate in a cooler in the pantry.  She was the saddest little buggy when we couldn't find him.

Anyway...I ran across this photo in my FB memories a while back and was dying to make a page with it.  Along came that darling little bear with the September main kit and this page was made.  I think he is just perfect.

I used the "Maggie" September main kit for this page as well as bits from the "Like a Girl" add-on and the Sprinkles kit.

That's it from me today.  Thank you for stopping by to read my little story and have a look at my page.  Have a wonderful day.

Let's get digital with Aimee Dow

I've decided I'm going to be a cut file designer. I don't expect it to make me millions or even enough to fill a piggy bank. It will however be a great defence when my husband asks why I have doodled all over our latest electricity bill - I was inspired and it just couldn't wait. Having said that here is my my latest doodle "design" from the back of the target receipt.

No one should ever leave their fine liners unguarded around me, but the good news is that you all benefit! Just click on the raw gem design above and you can download the .svg file and/or the .jpg file from my google drive. Then the word is your oyster. Make it big and use up all your pattern paper scraps filling it in, shrink it down and add it to you clusters or even make it your boarder. Just think of the possibilities. Jewel layouts for girls AND boys. Any page that you can put "Crystal Clear" in the title. Hell you could even back it with brown and do a layout about the outdoors or rock climbing. Me? Well I choose "You are such a Gem".

I made the page with this months Main and Sprinkles kit. The sprinkles kit has some really great little gem looking ephemera in it. I love the subtle use of the cut file here. It filled a huge gap in my design too. If you'd like to give this cut file a go I would LOVE to see it. You can tag @aimee_dow on instagram. Oh and don't forget to hashtag it #citrustwistkits and #aimeedow.

Sunday Sketch 9/4

Good morning!  I can hardly believe we are already in September. Where did the year go?  Of course today is Sunday which means it is time for a new sketch.

Here is my page using the sketch. I stuck pretty close to the original.  I loved the simplicity of it and how it helped me to highlight one of my favorite photos from this summer.

My favorite part is the painted wood veneer word.  I used a metallic acrylic paint to make it shiny.

Now it is your turn to create something with the sketch.  Don't forget to upload to the gallery or facebook group for the chance at a $5 gift certificate.  Place 9/4 in your title so we don't miss your page.

Snapshots Mini Album

Hello everyone, it's Tara here sharing my DIY Snapshots mini album. I have been feeling the itch to create a few mini albums to give away and I finally decided to try one out. Since I will be mailing it out, I had a few criteria to meet: light weight, small enough to display or take/move around, and interactive. I found a great accordion mini album tutorial that Stephanie Bryan made here. It required no stitching and seemed easy enough, so I decided to give it a go!

I made this one to give to my mother in law:
I used the cute heart patterned paper from the July Driftwood Main Kit. The heart cork piece was from a past Citrus Twist Kit and worked so well with this month's Pocket Life Driftwood Kit Cocoa Vanilla snip its.

I ended used two strips of 4x12 pieces instead of three, mostly because I mis-cut the last piece, but I loved how it turned out!

Here are a few close ups:

I wanted to add some interactive parts and also hide the journaling. I did this with a tag cut down from my stash. I also re-used a glassine bag from the kit to create a pocket for my tag. I can't get enough of that black and gold dot paper!! It's such a nice compliment to all the bold and bright colors.

I used both stamp sets from July's Main and PL kits. I have a slight addiction to stamps and always find a place to add them. I added more hidden journaling with the "notes" snip it tucked behind the photo.

On the tag, the "Hello, I Love You" phrase is from the Maggie Holmes Shine roller stamp. It's one of my favorite roller stamps!

Here is an idea of how small it is! I love how my mini album fits in my hand so easily. It's a great size and I plan to make a few more to give to friends and family.

Thank you for joining us today! I hope you try making some of your own mini albums too.

Have a lovely day!

Pocket Life Sketch Friday with Tara

Hello, Friday how I have missed you! It's Tara here and time for your weekly PL sketch challenge. Join in the challenge and earn your chance to win some happy mail from Citrus Twist Kits (read all the way through)!

This week I have two sketches for you. I am smitten with July's PL Driftwood kit. It is filled with so many wonderful bits and bobs that I used just this kit for my spread:

I wanted to capture some memories from June 2012. It's so fun to go back in time and create flashback spreads. My boys really enjoy looking through photos and seeing where they were in their younger years.

Here are some close ups. I loved Paige Evans' Fancy Free patterned paper in the kit along with the amazing cut outs from Cocoa Vanilla. I used some roller stamps in my stash to add more fun words.

I couldn't get enough of the cut outs and this month's selection of journaling cards. They worked so well together to add a little finishing touch.

This blue journaling card serves as my title card and month marker. I'm trying out adding more titles in as well as an easy way to see the transition month to month. I used the same roller stamp to add a bit of interest on the photo.

I need more of these exclusive acrylic words!!! I love adding a little more layering by adhering things to the outside of the pocket. It was a little tricky at first, I applied too much glue and then I put the glue on the wrong side! Third time was the charm for me :).

Here are your sketches:

Thank you for stopping by Pocket Life Friday. For your chance to win some happy mail, create a layout based on these sketches. Remember you can use these sketches to brainstorm ideas for Pocket Life and/or traditional scrapbooking. Post your layout to our Gallery and on our Facebook Fan Page by Friday, July 15, 2016. Be sure to include PL 07/15 in your title when posting!

Happy weekend everyone!

Sunday Sketch 6/5

Good Morning and Happy Sunday!  Today is of course, Sunday sketch day.  Honestly, this is one of my favorite posts to do.  Playing with this sketch was really fun.  There were a lot of ways I could have made this page using the sketch but this time I decided to stick with basically the same layout.  I did use my silhouette here and cut out the fun background.  My time has been a bit short here with the kids in school and baseball in full swing.  That wasn't going to stop me from having a little of my fun.

Here is the sketch I used this week.

See what I mean about the fun background?  I wanted to cut each one out of different paper but for time I just cut the background out of white and pasted my favorite paper from the June kit behind.

Simple, but with big impact,  The little splats of color shine from my stash added that last little bit of color.

Now it's your turn! To play along with these week's Sunday Sketch Challenge, create a layout based off of today's sketch, upload it to our gallery with the date of the challenge (6/5) in the title, and you will be eligible to win a $5 gift certificate to be used in the CTK Store!
