Sunday Sketch Challenge with Angie Gutshall

Good morning everyone! It's Angie here today. I'm so excited to share my sketch with you this month.

Let's start off with your sketch for the challenge. (I just adore Kasia's sketches!):

I was inspired by the 2 photos in the sketch and all of the fun little details. I worked with the August "Wild Child" Kit Add-on.  Aren't the colors so fun?! Now here is my take on the weekly sketch:

Here is a fun tip: Use an empty tube, dip it in paint, and place it on the paper for small painted circles:

Now it's your turn. If you want to play along with this week's Sunday Sketch and be eligible to win a $5 gift certificate, create a project based off of the sketch and upload it to CTK Gallery by next Saturday, August 6th. Please make sure to include "Sketch 7/31" in the title line of your project.

I hope this inspires you to do the sketch this month!

Tuesday Tutorial

Happy Tuesday everyone!!  I love making mixed media art with my kits and I'm here to share a really easy one with you today.

Here is what you need: a canvas, a kit (or paper), and a circle cutter or punches.

First, I cut out circles with my Creative Memories circle cutters, Yes, I still use these and they come in handy when you need multiple sizes.

And in case you want to know, I used the smallest circle with the red and blue blade to get the 2 smaller circles and for the largest circle I used the medium circle and the blue blade.

Next, you adhere them to your canvas with Mod Podge or some other type of adhesive that will hold really well.

After you layer your circles you can now add stickers or other embellishments.

And to add some more fun I used the paint that came in this months kit and painted around some of the circles.

Here is my finished project ready to hang in my daughter's room!

Have a great day!
Xo, Angie

3 to Inspire

Hello, Angie here sharing your 3 to Inspire challenge. I don't know about you but I love to be challenged when creating a layout because it helps me think outside the box.

Today the challenge is to use:
1. a bow made out of your twine
2. a frame that doesn't have a picture in it
3. And my favorite arrows!!

This layout was created using the June Main Kit only!  Aren't those colors so pretty?! And if you look close enough at the close up you can see the bow.

Hope this challenge has inspired you to dig into your kit and have fun creating!! To play along and be eligible to win a small prize to the CTK Store, create a project based off of today's challenge and upload it to the Gallery. Make sure to include today's date (6/4) in the title!

Tuesday Tutorial

Happy Tuesday!!  Today I wanted to share a fun little mixed media tutorial with you.  I love creating canvas to hang all over my house or to give as a gift.  This one I plan to give to a friend.

So to get started you will need a canvas, mod podge, paint brush, patterned paper, embellishments and scissors.

Second cut your papers how ever you would like just so they cover the canvas.

Once you have the paper cut and you know where you want them it's time to Modpodge.  TIP: I take a picture once I have them in place so I know exactly where I had them.
I pour Mod Podge all over then take paint brush and cover the canvas.

Then after all the papers are placed down on the canvas, it's time to add the Mod Podge to the tops off the papers.  No worries it dries clear.

Now that the canvas is dry it's time to add the embellishments.  I like to wait till it's nice and dry so I can play with where to place my embellishments.  I wanted to mention I found the "friends" digital file on the Citrus Twist Fan FB Page under the files tab.  And the "forever" I cut on my cameo.  The little rose was cut out using my Big Shot and you can find the die in the Citrus Twist Store.

After you have everything where you want it you need to Mod Podge the back and front of each item.

Here is my finished project:

I hope this has inspired you to create a mixed media piece.  If you do please link it in the comments below, I would love to see it!

Sunday Sketch

Hello and welcome to this week's edition of Citrus Twist's Sunday Sketch Challenge!  Today we are lucky to have our April Guest Designer, Angie Gutshall, here to inspire us with her beautiful take on this week's sketch:

Happy Sunday!!  Today I have a fun sketch to share with lots of layers.  I love sketches because they get the creative ideas flowing.  I will sometimes just look at a sketch to get a base for my layout then just do my own thing from there.

Here is your sketch:

And here is my take on the sketch using the new April Main "Santorini" Scrapbook Kit and just a couple pieces from the Embellishment Kit.

Here are some close ups.  I had fun cutting out the leaves from the Pink Fresh paper and adding the enamel dots just helped pop the black and white. The die cuts in this month's kit couldn't have been more perfect for scrapping my sewing project.

Now it's your turn! To play along with these week's Sunday Sketch Challenge, create a layout based off of today's sketch, upload it to our gallery with the date of the challenge (4/3) in the title, and you will be eligible to win a $5 gift certificate to be used in the CTK Store!

Our June Kits are Here + Process Video

Hi everyone, June is here and so are our kits. Today we are sharing pictures of both the Main and Pocket Life kits that coordinate perfectly. We also have a mixed media process video at the end that is so much fun to watch. Angie Gutshall visually walks you through how she created a wall hanging for one of her kids.

This is June's "Sweet Life" Main kit, packed with brightness.

Here is our "Do Fun Stuff" June Pocket Life kit. (Both kits are available here) We love all the Freckled Fawn, Evalicious, Citrus Bliss, Seven Paper (and more!) in this kit:

Design Team member Angie Gutshall made this gorgeous mixed media project using the June Main kit. Here is her project and a couple of close-ups:
