Pocket Life Challenge with Kristen: Focus On The Photos!

Hey Everyone! This is Jennie and I am really excited! The Citrus Twist Blog has a few challenges every month to jump start your creativity. This week Kristen will be inspiring you! One of her prompts is to use black and white photos, The second one is to do something you've never done and the third one to focus on the photos.

I am crazy about labels! They are perfect for layering but most of the time I use them to stamp my dates on my title card. I love using a heart die with my 6x6 papers because you can really see the cute patterns in the die cuts.

These aqua alpha stickers are gorgeous! I love the silver foiling! They are exclusive from Citrus Twist.

Something I've never done in my pages is using photo corners. I really love how it came out! These are from the Sprinkled Add On Kit. For the base card of the photos I used the 6x6 paper pad.

A good tip to use black and white photos it to look for  low quality photos. It makes them look better instantly. It's also a good option when the colors don't match the rest of the photos. I went to town on my 4x6 photos with the Turn The Page Stickers.

I loved the photos from this week because they were happy random memories. The colors were really happy too!

I hope you were inspired by Kristel like I was in this layout!
Have an awesome day!

Pocket Life Challenge Friday with Diane

Hi guys! I'm back with another Pocket Life Challenge for you!

I'm using the brand new August Citrus Twist Pocket Life kit this week and I immediately had to use my FAVOURITE card. Which posed a bit of a challenge to me. Red isn't a colour I normally use a lot of, obviously I sway more to the pink side of the spectrum. So I had to find a way to make that red card work with this week's spread.

My solution was to add little pops of red throughout my page, just enough to make it feel cohesive but not so much that it stuck out. And actually I love the result. The red is so vibrant and all those little hints really draw your eye towards that journalling card!

So my challenge for you this week is: Use a colour you would usually try to avoid!

Pocket Life Challenge Friday with Diane

Hi guys! We're switching things up a bit and each Friday we'll be hosting a Pocket Life Challenge instead of a sketch!

My challenge for you this week is: Use as much of that yummy kit packaging in your pocket page as you can!

The Citrus Twist kits are always packaged so beautifully so I took advantage of that packaging this week and created not only a title card, but a shaker pocket as well – using some of the tiny die cut pieces from the pack.

My title card used the backing card from The Narrative stamp set as well as one of the cute little glassine bags that hold embellishments.

I created a shaker card using the clear bag that holds the 3x4 cards, by simply trimming it down, filling it with die-cuts and then stitching around the edges. This way, I don't have to fuse a pocket shut and I can pull out the "card" and shake it about as much as I want!
