Life Crafted with Marsha

Hey friends!  Marsha here with you today, and I'm sharing another layout in my Life Crafted Album.  I used the August Chasing Rainbows kit, the Traveler's Notebook Digital Papers, and the 2x3 Stamp Add-on to create this spread.

Here's a look at the layout:

To begin my spread, I printed a TN paper to use as my background and adhered it to a piece of white cardstock, sized to fit in the Life Crafted album.  I layered patterned papers behind my photo and used the fun acetate pieces from the kit to embellish around the photo.  The acrylic "Hello" piece was perfect for my title, and I used more acetate pieces and a stamped sentiment to complete the title.

For the other page, I used Page Protector #2 that holds 2- 3x4 cards.  I trimmed a patterned paper from the kit to fit in the pocket and adhered two acetate pieces to the paper.  I used a mini Xyron Sticker Maker to adhere the acetate, and it works perfectly for this.  I then added two more acetate hearts to finish off the card.

For the other pocket, I trimmed down the 3x8 bookmark to 3x4.  I typed my journaling, trimmed it into strips, and added it to the card.  I stamped the date using a roller date stamp, and I stamped a phrase to the bottom of the card using the 2x3 Stamp Add-on.

Thank you for stopping by today!  Please share your projects using this kit with us on the Citrus Twist Kits Fan Page on Facebook.  I can't wait to see what you create!

Sunday Sketch with Laura Rahel

Hey friends! Welcome to another edition of Sunday Sketch. Today I'm sharing a gorgeous layout I made for a friend using photos of her little one. It's such a colorful and fun layout, I hope you enjoy it!

You can see how I created this page in the process video over on my Patron. I love how it turned out! It's so colorful and fun for a summer baby layout. I had to modify the sketch to fit within my 8.5x11 size layout. I did a huge title up top that I hand stitched and backed with the wood grain paper from this month's kit. I also brought more of that wood grain patterned paper down to my photo mat, as well as some colorful yellow lemon patterned paper from kit. Perfect for these summertime plant nursery photos! I made sure to sprinkle lots of bright yellow around the page and love how it turned out.

Happy Sunday friends, hope you get creative using your kit today!

Life Crafted with Alena

Hey friends!
Alena here, and I'm sharing a spread in my Life Crafted album using the August  Life Crafted "Chasing Rainbows" Kit.

This spread is  pretty simple, but it's all about bright accents.

My pages are pretty simple to create but has loads of texture .  This time I used the Puffy Alphabet as part of the background. These letters perfectly match the blue sky in the photo.

I also decided to add some acetate elements. Their transparency allows me to overlay them on the text.

And of course I couldn't resist that Title. I placed it a little over the photo to connect the bottom and top of the page.

Thank you for stopping by today! Please share what you create with your kits in our Facebook group and/or on Instagram tagging @citrustwistkits so we can see!

3-to-inspire with Diane

Hi everyone, Diane here with another 3-to-inspire challenge for you! You can find this challenge here every Saturday for those who need a little extra creative push to get scrapbooking, to keep scrapbooking or for those who just like a challenge! Your take on this challenge can be a layout, Traveler's Notebook page or a pocket page spread and remember that you'll want to include all 3 prompts on your project.

Your prompts this week are:
  1. Try a dark background
  2. Create a banner
  3. Use some acetate
Here’s my take on this challenge ...

I decided to do my challenge in my Traveler's Notebook, which is just like doing a mini 12x12 layout really! The only difference is that I split everything down the middle so the book can fold when I'm finished.

I used a dark floral background, adding texture with some machine stitching and distressing, before lightening it all up with a banner pennant shape to house my photo and title.

Then I created another banner at the top using all sorts of embellishments and stitching and stamping.

I matted my photo with a coordinating patterned paper and then added more machine stitching. I used a Xyron machine to adhere my acetate pieces, I find that really is a great way to stick them down, but you could always stitch them or staple them too.

My final step was to add some white splatters on the background and some black splatters on my pennant. Then I needed to replace my photo after accidentally splattering all over my face! Tip: cover your photos when adding splatters!

Here's a look at the process this spread took ...

I can't wait to see what you do with this challenge so don't forget to post your layouts in the Facebook Fan Page so we can see!

Life Crafted with Laura Rahel

Hey friends it's Laura Rahel Crosby here with you today and I've got a life crafted page to share. I'm created this 9x12 Project Life page for my 2018 album using this month's kit and I love how it turned out. The white acrylic "hello" is probably my favorite part! So pretty. Perfect for documenting a day visiting my hometown and catching up with an old friend and my baby niece.

I kept the page really simple with just a couple embellishments and cards from this month's kit. I loved that blue 3x4 card and made it a center statement to build my page around. I created the bottom right card using a few of the acetate pieces in this month's kit. All I need to do to finish the page is add a little bit of journaling to that card and it'll be another page in my album! I hope you've enjoyed this page and are feeling inspired to get creative with your Life Crafted Citrus Twist Kit this month. Make sure you're following me on YouTube to see how I put this page together later in the month.

Meet Our Guest Designer: INGUNN MARKIEWICZ

We are so excited to have a second Guest Designer join us this month.  We love her clean and colorful style,  her photography and all her stories.   Please join me in welcoming INGUNN MARKIEWICZ to Citrus Twist Kits.  Wait til you see what she has created.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

GET TO KNOW INGUNN

I was born and raised in Norway but currently live in the Seattle area with my husband, two little kids, and an adorable Italian Greyhound. I love spending my free time running or hiking in the mountains and then coming home to scrapbook about it, reliving all of my favorite moments.

Q&A with INGUNN

·  When did you start scrapbooking?

In 2006, I wandered into a craft store in Norway to buy materials for our wedding invitations. I noticed some scrapbooking products next to the pretty paper, and something just clicked in my head and I knew this was a hobby I would enjoy. I fumbled around a bit at first, unsure of how to start making layouts I actually liked, but after reading Cathy Zielske's book's later that year, I found my style: clean, simple, focusing on the photos and the stories.

·  What is something most people would not know about you?

People often assume that I'm very outgoing and adventurous since I'm in the mountains a lot, but I'm actually incredibly introverted and first and foremost a homebody. I guess I'm kind of hobbit-like - I love to be in the comfort of my own home, but once in a while I the need for a long journey kicks in.

·  What are the 3 scrapbooking products you can’t live without?

Photoshop, my printer, and chipboard.

·  What do you love about the August Life Crafted kit?

The florals, the acetate pieces, and the fact that the general theme of chasing rainbows fits my headspace perfectly right now. I'm going through a rough patch (as I'm sure you'll be able to see from my projects) and I am looking for the silver linings and searching out the rainbows and sunshine...and using scrapbooking to work through my feelings.

·  Finish this sentence “If you could see my scrapbooking space now . . . “

...it would be a giant mess. We are preparing to host house guests and I need to turn my scrapbook space into an extra guest room, so I am currently scrapbooking on the floor like some sort of savage, surrounded by homeless product.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For my first project, I let the "just enjoy where you are right now" card spark the idea for my page. I'm using a Life Crafted album to keep the summer moments I want to remember this year, and one of those memories is from when I was having lunch with my toddler and managed to dig through all the depressive feelings I was having and instead focus on the present. I grabbed a photo from that day along with the caption I had written about it on instagram, which I printed onto that beautiful floral card.

I decided I wanted more of the floral on the opposing side, so I used Photoshop to turn the digital version of the card into a 2x4 piece for the pocket below the photo. I was about to call it good when I noticed the phrase "take a moment to value the present" in the digital stamp set, which could not have been more perfect for this page! It looked a little too harsh in black, so I decided to play with a two-toned version - I used one white version and one blue version, erasing the sections I didn't need.

I like to keep things very simple, so once everything was printed out and put into pockets, I just added two embellishments - the white chipboard circle to add an element of interest on the journaling card, and an acetate piece to fill in the white space at the bottom of the photo. The red on the acetate piece also mirrored the red journaling card to further help tie the two sides of the spread together.

Thanks so much for joining me, and i will be back with a new project, soon!

Meet our August Guest Designer - SHEREE FORCIER

We are so happy to share our August 2019 Guest Designer with you all, meet the immensely talented, SHEREE FORCIER!   We are huge fans of Sheree's clean and simple style and are always amazed at her story telling style.   Cannot wait to show you what she has created.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
GET TO KNOW SHEREE

Hi everyone!  My name is Sheree Forcier and I live on the sunny Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia.  My husband is my high school sweetheart.  We’ve been together for 29 years and have three fantastic kids. They’re all now in high school as of this year and are growing up way too fast!
I love everything about memory keeping and playing with pretty papery things is probably my favourite thing to do!  My scrapbooking style is fairly simple, clean and minimalist.  I love white space and enjoy mixing it up with using different formats of scrapping so I’ll regularly swap between layouts, traveler’s notebook spread and pocket pages.  I feel so lucky to be on some wonderful creative teams right now including Felicity Jane, Kerri Bradford Studio and Retro Hip Magazine…and I’m so excited to be guest designing for Citrus Twist Kits this month!

Q&A with SHEREE

•When did you start scrapbooking?
I’ve always loved pretty pens and papers since I was a little girl, but I wasn’t introduced to scrapbooking until my first son was born in 2002.  My Mum was (and still is) a card maker back then and suggested I give scrapbooking a go because I wanted to document all the adorable baby photos we were taking.  Once I got started I was hooked and have been scrapping ever since!

•What is something most people would not know about you?
This year, after more than 25 years, I decided to go back to school!  I really wanted to try something new so I’m studying graphic design and loving it so much!

•What are the 3 scrapbooking products you can’t live without?
Wow this is such a hard question…but I think I’d have to say pretty patterned papers, stamps and my sewing machine!  You’ll find patterned paper and stamping on almost every project I do and I LOVE to add machine stitching too.  My project just doesn’t feel complete without a little stitching.

•What do you love about the August Life Crafted kit?
Where do I start?!  The June Life Crafted kit is just gorgeous!  I really love the beautiful papers that coordinate so well together.  The journaling cards and acrylic pieces are also really fun!  There is just so much to love!

•Finish this sentence “If you could see my scrapbooking space now . . .
After my scrapping session today you’d find a pretty mess that needs a good tidy up!  I like to try and keep things organised with everything put away in it’s place, but sometimes a little more creating time will take priority over the clean up!

--------------------------------------------------------------------

For my project today I decided to do a traveler’s notebook spread.  I used the blue patterned paper from the Life Crafted Chasing Rainbows Kit for the first page and left the second page plain white for the background.

My journaling was printed using my computer, then I cut it to a tag shape, machine stitched around the edge and added some twine from my stash at the top.  I added a die cut from the scrapbooking add on kit underneath and used a staple to help secure it.

On the second page I positioned the photo with one of the acetate pieces tucked under the right side.  A die cut speech bubble was stapled to the top left of the photo and another cute die cut was added to the bottom right.

Under the photo is a label that was stamped with “Live Inspired” from the Chasing Rainbows stamp set, and the large “Hustle” die cut.  I stitched across both of these pieces with my sewing machine for extra texture.

You can see my process in the video below…

I look forward to sharing another project with you soon!
