Tuesday Tutorial: How To Pair Washi With Kits

Hi Everyone! This is washi addict Jennie! I have sooo many rolls of washi tape! I'm always looking for ways to add them to my projects. Whenever I open my Pocket Life Kit I look for washi that complements the kit. I use different criteria to choose which ones get to join the kit during the month.

The most simple is color. Choose 3 colors from the most frequent colors of the kit. You can use solids or a simple pattern like stripes.

Polka dots are also simple but perfect! Don't look only at the papers, remember the die cuts and stickers.

This kit has a few metallic papers. I often forget my metallic washi so this is a good opportunity to reach for that item you normally wouldn't choose.

Your criteria could be a special pattern like these flowers.

I love the tickets on the top but I probably won't add them to this month's kit because the colors don't go that well with the kit.

These tickets are perfect! They are simple and the colors are the same as the items on the kit.

Make sure you always add at least one neutral washi tape to the collection.

I'm sharing a pocket life layout! Let's look at close ups to spot the washi!

I use washi to layer EVERYTHING!! Photos, stickers, embellishments clusters, etc.

I have to be careful I don't add a shaker pocket every week! I love them too much! I put one of the circle die cuts on the outside of the shaker pocket.

I also use staples to add texture and layers to the embellishments clusters.

The yellow and pink ticket was my favorite washi on this spread! The die cuts work perfect with it! The alphas from this month are awesome! And they have numbers! It makes my pl heart happy to have numbers!

I used the stamp from this month to embellish this filler card a little bit more!

I hope these tips helped! Go through your washi stash! Pick at least 3 washi tapes and share them in the Citrus Twist Fan Forum

Tuesday Tutorial with Tara

Good morning friends! I hope your week is starting off fantastic. It's Tara here today sharing a mini album tutorial I made with July's GraceBox kit. I wanted to make a mini album that was a little book of God's truths. It's easy to get caught up with the everyday busyness, that we forget God's grace and mercies. This mini album is going to a friend to help encourage her in the happy and tough days.

I'm making the exact style of accordion album as I did here. Thanks to the original creator, Stephanie Bryan, I recreated it once more. This is one of my favourite stash busters - I used a lot of papers, embellishments, stamps, and washi tape I already owned.

The first step is to pick a 12x12 piece of patterned paper and cut it into 3 4 inch high strips. Next, score your 4x12 piece of paper every 3 inches. I'm using one of the older exclusive Citrus Twist Kits paper from a main kit.

I decided to only use 2 strips of paper for this mini album. Finally, attach the ends together! Then comes the fun part - decorate to your heart's desire.

Here is the finished cover:

Here are a few of the accordion pages.

Some up close shots of each page:
I wanted to make this mini album interactive. I tucked this bible verse into some layered papers.

Flip up the paper cluster to reveal two more verses.

I cut down one of the bible journaling cards down as a tip in.

I added a small little sentiment on the bottom.

Pull out the yellow piece of paper and find the "amen" sentiment from the Scripture Doodles stamp.

This was a cute die cut from a past GraceBox kit.

I added the small glassine bag from the kit layered on top of patterned paper. I'm going to add a special note inside.

Here is the back half of the accordion mini album.

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope this mini album inspires you to make one for documenting life, writing down bible verses, or other fun things you would like to remember.

Note to Self

Good morning! It's Tara here and today I'm sharing another way I like to use my Pocket Life kit - for faith journaling. I love how versatile our kits are; you can use them in so many ways and tailor them to fit your needs.

I love this journaling card that was in our "Beach Glass" Pocket Life kit this month. Our very own Diane, created this lovely brush lettering found here and in the stamps as well. The washi tape is from my stash. I love flip cards! You can add extra writing or hide it for only you to see.

I am using my traveler's notebook as a way to write down bible verses, take notes, and write out prayers daily. It's the perfect size and I love the paper! Here is a little spread I made:

Here is a closer peek:
I used some watercolor to make a few roses. They are far from perfect and a couple aren't my favorite but I'm embracing the imperfections. Then I did a wash of blue throughout the page. I also added in the GraceBox v2 stamp here and there. Again, loving the word "joy"! It actually was from the phrase "joyful heart" but I made it work. I really loved the Simple Stories white alphas that were included in April's PL kit, so I added them here too. I used a die cut tab from the "Currently" die cuts included in the May PL kit.

I'm reading a mini study called Unshakeable Moms. I took a few notes that really spoke to me behind the journaling card. These words are a reminder to help me focus on how I'm refueling myself and what I should be filled with.

Thank you for stopping by! We would love to see the different ways you use your kits. You can share it with us in our Gallery and Facebook Fan Page .

Have a lovely day! Xxo, Tara

Hello Baby!

Hi everyone! It's Tara sharing how I'm using the "Oh, Sweet Baby" Add-on kit from this month to start a few layouts. We are expecting our third child in January and this kit was perfect for starting a baby album! I paired the Add-on kit with the lovely Seven Clara album available in the shop.

I decided to cut down the last row of 2x2 boxes to have a more narrow title page. I also love having the next page have a peek-a-boo effect with different sized protectors.

Most of the items I used came from the add-on kit, plus some Crate Paper Wonder ephemera from the shop (sold out now), and a wood chip from our Happy Lane Nov PL kit (also sold out).
I added a little bit of the gold washi tape from the "Happy Lane" PL kit on the ephemera. It added just a little extra without going over the top.

I love adding the little bits and pieces to make this layout come together.

My next layout shares our dating ultrasound - I wasn't as far along as I thought but we were excited to welcome another addition to our family!
I really love all the stamps that come in the kits and use them often! The roller stamp in "Oh, Sweet Baby" is one of my new favorites too!

Here it is closer for you to see the details.
I am in love with all the bright colors that were included in both the PL and Add-on kits. They compliment each other very well!

It's so easy to customize ephemera or PL cards by adding some stamps, extra bits of patterned paper, or the included cut outs from the kit. The possibilities are endless!

I wanted to add more journaling but make the layout interactive as well as keep it well hidden for only us to share together. Using a tag from my stash helped me create it, along with some washi also in my stash.
Here is the hidden journaling written on the backside of the tag.

And one more shot of our baby's profile - just as perfect as can be!

Please share your creations that you have made with our November kits! I'll slowly be adding more to share as I build up this album a little at a time.

Thank you for stopping by and keep on creating!
