3-to-Inspire with Diane

Hi everyone, Diane here with another 3-to-inspire challenge for you! You can find this challenge here every Saturday for those who need a little extra creative push to get scrapbooking, to keep scrapbooking or for those who just like a challenge! Your take on this challenge can be a layout, Traveler's Notebook page or a pocket page spread and remember that you'll want to include all 3 prompts on your project.

Here’s my take on this challenge ...

I started with my photo, and instead of my go-to white background, I choose a pink card to match my photo. This card is actually grey I think, but has been bleached by the sun and now has a lovely pink shade to it! I choose a pink paper from the Pocket Life kit (who thought I'd be able to use a peacock paper?!) and toned it down a little with some white acrylic paint. While I was playing with some mixed media, I also used a couple of mists! Once I'd added my title, some stamping and a few embellishments, all I had left to do was add my hidden journalling behind my photo.

Pocket Life Challenge with Jennie and Candace

Hi everyone! This is Jennie with one of today's pocket life challenges. One thing I like to add to my albums is packaging and tags. In ten years, packaging and even products will change a lot. We all look fondly at photos of old toys and I want to give my daughters that same feeling.

Whenever I add tags to my spread, I use a removable adhesive or washi tape so I can look at the back too. 

On the Emoji Pillow tag I used washi at the top so I could flip it up.

On this little ticket, I used the word die cut to keep it closed. I only used adhesive at the bottom.

My title card is week is crazy busy but I love it!

This is the other side of the spread I shared a few days ago and this side of the shaker pocket looks pretty good too! I glued the circle die cut on the outside.

When you have too many photos like this week make a collage or two!

Tuesday Tutorial: How To Pair Washi With Kits

Hi Everyone! This is washi addict Jennie! I have sooo many rolls of washi tape! I'm always looking for ways to add them to my projects. Whenever I open my Pocket Life Kit I look for washi that complements the kit. I use different criteria to choose which ones get to join the kit during the month.

The most simple is color. Choose 3 colors from the most frequent colors of the kit. You can use solids or a simple pattern like stripes.

Polka dots are also simple but perfect! Don't look only at the papers, remember the die cuts and stickers. 

This kit has a few metallic papers. I often forget my metallic washi so this is a good opportunity to reach for that item you normally wouldn't choose.

Your criteria could be a special pattern like these flowers. 

I love the tickets on the top but I probably won't add them to this month's kit because the colors don't go that well with the kit.  

These tickets are perfect! They are simple and the colors are the same as the items on the kit.

 Make sure you always add at least one neutral washi tape to the collection.

I'm sharing a pocket life layout! Let's look at close ups to spot the washi! 

I use washi to layer EVERYTHING!! Photos, stickers, embellishments clusters, etc.

I have to be careful I don't add a shaker pocket every week! I love them too much! I put one of the circle die cuts on the outside of the shaker pocket.

I also use staples to add texture and layers to the embellishments clusters.

The yellow and pink ticket was my favorite washi on this spread! The die cuts work perfect with it! The alphas from this month are awesome! And they have numbers! It makes my pl heart happy to have numbers!

I used the stamp from this month to embellish this filler card a little bit more!

Let's Go Monochromatic with Kelly

Hello friends! Today I have a layout and process video to share using the Main kit, Embellishment Add-on, and Project Life kit. I was inspired to create this layout with several of the romantic themed elements that are in the kits, and my starting point was the gorgeous vellum swan die cut. I consider neutrals to include gold, so for my pop of color I chose to use pink.

This photo is of my husband and I when we were on a cruise. The background of the photo is a bit distracting, so I cropped it close. I could have easily turned the photo to black and white, but ended up liking the pop of color the photo brings off the neutral background.

The music sheet that is included in the main kit makes a great layering piece behind the photo and the vellum die cut. I trimmed down the music sheet by using a ruler as a straight edge and tearing down to size. Tearing the paper with the ruler edge gives a bit more control of how much is torn off and keeps it relatively straight.

Usually when working with metallics I stick with one color. The mix of rose gold and gold works beautifully with this page and the pink tones. The large floral was fussy cut from one of the 6x8 papers included in the PL kit and helps to bring balance to the right side of the page.

To finish off the layout I machine stitched in gold thread around the edges of the layout, and added gold mist. Misting led to a happy accident when a blob of gold mist fell onto the page. It bothered me so much that I decided to use the word phrases to cover the mist blob and then layer a few more down the page to balance out the phrases.
