3-TO-INSPIRE WITH MARINA

Hi, crafty friends!

It's Marina with you today with a new 3-to-Inspire challenge.
I end September with a simply spread and our cool collection ALL ABOUT ME and here are three things that inspired me to create this beauty:

1. Stamps to create a composite title;
2. Some vellum;
3. Dots for bright accents.

So, here we are! :)

To create the title, I used our amazing stamps sets: Ginger Upper/Ginger Lower Alhpabet and Storytelling V2 - and I just adore it, because it's just countless options! (By the way, you can also find the ink that I used in the СTK shop: it's a Detail Black and Indian Summer by Pinkfresh Studio!)
I've also mixed in a few stamps from this year's releases here: Travelite, Cherish, Slow Days and All The Things - I just love mixing "live" stamps with digital products! :)
By the way, our glitter Silver and Golden Dots now on sale - check it right now, because they are just perfect for Christmas! However, here they fit perfectly into the palette of my September spread and it's another reason to take a closer look at them! ;)
A little vellum for volume and airiness - it always looks very delicate, don't you agree?.. :)

Ta-daaa! How do you like it? :)

I love our CTK digitals and use them very often when creating my pages, and you can find them right HERE in our shop! :)
We always look forward to seeing what you create with our 3-to-Inspire prompts, so be sure to tag Citrus Twist Kits in your posts!

Thank you all for your attention and have a great week!
XO

Sunday Sketch with Ettiene

Happy Sunday. Welcome back for this weeks take on Sunday sketch. I love using sketches as a starting point for my layouts. This weeks sketch is so fun. Let’s take a look at it.

I was originally drawn to the simplicity of this sketch with the large focal photo. When I look at a sketch I try to pick out what parts are standing out to me. For this sketch it’s that photo and the 2 strips of paper going vertically on each side of the photo. Usually I take these couple of quick notes as my starting point and then close down the sketch so I can make it my own.

Since this months kit is all about me I chose a selfie I took of myself after a haircut. I decided because I was documenting a current photo I would use the right now paper as my background paper. I then selected 2 additional papers for my strips. The sketch has some sewing that would be beautiful but I decided to not do it because only a little bit of edge sticks out on my page to sew down.

I added the florals on a diagonal surrounding my photo just like the sketch has. I felt like I needed a little more layering so I layered some ephemera on the left side of my photo. I typed my journaling up and added it to the page.

Hope you enjoyed my take on the Sunday sketch. If you use this sketch on a page I would love to see it.

3-to- INSPIRE with Marci

Hello Friends! It is Marci with you today. We are going to have fun with our challenge this Saturday.

Here are the three suggested items to incorporate into your project,

1. Use a pocket page.

2. Use a stamp set.

3. Document a topic that says a lot about you.

For my project, I used the ALL ABOUT ME kit to document my routine of making an espresso drink every morning. Drinking coffee is something I am known for with my friends and family. My scrapbook pages about myself would not be complete without including this topic.

I had fun layering several of the embellishment pieces from the kit on the full-page layout and the pocket cards. Pocket Cards and pocket pages are a great way to incorporate different colors and styles into your layout. Sliding cards into the pockets can take a lot of the guesswork out of designing a spread.

Including stamping in two different ink colors, adds some visual interest to my embellishment clusters.  The small circle and asterisk on the Storytelling v2 all-about-me stamp set were perfect for this.

If you like this CAFFEINE card as much as I do, check out this set of everyday moments double-sided journaling cards. It is great to have extra journaling cards in our stash that can mix and match with any kit.

I had so much fun putting this layout together. I hope you are inspired to give the challenge a try too.

SUNDAY SKETCH with Katarina

Hey CTK friends!

It's Sunday again and it's Katarina back with you bringing the newest Sunday Sketch Challenge inspiration. Let's have a look at the gorgeous sketch.

And here's my project.

I created a layout in my 6x8 Life Crafted Album using the beautiful All About Me Kit and Stamps.

I really love how this collection inspires me to document all about myself and this time I wanted to journal about how amazing it is to finally have an e-bike and be able to keep pace with my boys.

I love all the patterned papers in the All About Me Kit so I used a bunch of them, combined with the Journal Cards and layered them behind my photo. This really helps the photo stand out. Alternatively, you can combine patterned papers with vellum to make it a little less busy.

I used one of the All About Me Ephemera pieces for my title and later I realised I have a lot of empty space on my photo, which really inspired me to use the Storytelling V2 All About Me Stamp and add another little title or note to self, if you want.

I added the beautiful All About Me Floral Ephemera around two corners of my photo as the sketch suggested and added a few enamel dots for a little detail.

I used one of the Journaling Cards from the collection for my journaling and tucked it behind the main cluster.

I really love this beautiful sketch and the new All About Me products. Hope you feel inspired by the sketch and my project and that you join our challenge!

See you soon!

3 To Inspire with Ali

Hello CTK fans! It's Ali today and I'm excited to bring you your weekly 3-to-Inspire featuring September's All About Me kit

Here are the three elements to inspire you:

  1. Tell a story without using photos
  2. Use real life ephemera
  3. Make a collage element
Before we get in to all the details, here's a quick process video to see how the project came together!

Now let's dive a little deeper into each element.

Telling a story sans photos won't come natural to many as they are, in large part, the main component of most of our scrapbook pages. But I would argue that many stories can be well told with other visual components such as:

  • art work (especially a child's)
  • a greeting card, a note or letter
  • an award
  • a meme
  • book covers or tv/movie posters
  • screenshots or text messages
  • or, as I did here, with real life ephemera

The real life ephemera I reference could consist of some of the following elements:

  • movie tickets
  • clothing tags
  • price tags
  • merchandise stickers
  • handwritten notes
  • shopping or to do lists
  • packaging
Most ephemera is high contrast, vibrant and bold enough to stand on its own in a layout, most especially when used, as I did here, in a grouping.  My main section of ephemera is housed in the full size pocket I made using paper from the kit. I made it deep enough to contain the components while still allowing color, pattern and branding to show. I chose to make a pocket outside of the page protector to allow for maximum interactivity with the contents, as one of the highlights of including ephemera is the ability to handle it.

And finally, the collage element, which can easily be a natural extension of the ephemera, as in my project, or it could be scraps of pattern paper, die cuts, stickers, stamps, washi tape, labels, etc. Whichever it is, the idea is to use other items to make an interesting pattern, background or pocket insert that is unique to your project.

Besides the three elements in the challenge, I used lots of components from the September "All About Me" kit. The stamp set, letter stickers, die cuts and papers all quietly set the tone for my ephemera and story to shine. Sometimes I like the products to take center stage, but today, I chose more subtle pieces that enhanced my project and this kit was the perfect choice!

I hope you have a chance to make a project using one, two or all three of the elements above. Please post your project and tag @CitrusTwistKits and myself, @PaperCutGoods, so we can see your genius at work!

3 To Inspire with Jennie

Hey Everyone! This is Jennie with today's inspiration!

Your first prompt is to include a photo of something you made! In this case, I added a photo of a drawing my little one made. This photo allows me to include it in a 3x4 pocket instead of having a lot of papers. My daughter draws a lot! If I kept everything she made I would need an extra house to store all her drawings. Other things that you can photograph are letters and grocery shopping lists. Think about having a tangible memory of  someone's handwriting or how different your grandma's grocery looked from yours!

The second prompt is to mix it up! Colors, embellishments, and elements! In my title card, I mixed 2 different kinds of alpha stickers. I used the Sadie Coral Alphabet Puffy Stickers and the Periwinkle Alphabet Puffy Stickers. I also mixed the colors blue and light pink!

The third prompt is to be a little playful with your photos! Cut your photos into shape! You can use metal dies or punches. I framed the circle with the All About Me Ephemera.
To recap, the three prompts are:
1. Include a photo of something you made.
2. Mix up your elements.
3. Cut your photos into a shape.

Don't forget to come back every Saturday to get your 3 to Inspire prompts!

SUNDAY SKETCH with Marsha

Hey, CTK friends! It's Marsha here today, and I'm excited to share a layout for Sunday Sketch! I enjoy creating with sketches and used this one as a jumping-off point for my page.

Here's a look at the sketch:

This sketch is in an 8.5x11 format, but it was easy to convert it to a Life Crafted spread by separating the design down the middle of the page.

Here's my layout:

This month's All About Me Mini Kit and digitals were perfect for this spread, documenting my current reading obsession. I began by printing digital papers from the kit to use for the page. I followed the sketch by trimming the book print paper and adding strips of it to the center of both pages. Next, I used a circle punch from my stash to cut out circles from the dot patterned paper, trimmed them in half, and stitched them to the page to create the scallop design featured in the sketch. I decided to flip the design and layered a few ephemera pieces from the digitals to replace the smaller photo in the sketch.

I layered a pocket card and a digital patterned paper to create layers behind my photo. The gorgeous florals from the kit were perfect for framing my picture. For the title, I stamped the word "FAVORITE" using the new Storytelling V2 All About Me Stamp and completed the title with Sadie Black Alphabet Puffy Stickers. I added a bit more stamping below the journaling with the Simple Words V5 All About Me Stamp. To complete the page, I added All About Me Word/Phrase stickers from the kit to both pages of the spread.

I hope you are inspired to make a layout based on this week's sketch! Happy creating!
